Evil Dead 4?

I'm ecstatic it's getting a theatrical release.

‘Evil Dead Rise' Trailer Has Its World Premiere At BruceFest2022

  • Speaking of motherhood, a character that we presume to be Ellie opened the trailer with this eloquent bit of motherly love: “It was the most beautiful day. It was a perfect day. And all I could think about was how much I wanted to cut you all open and climb inside your bodies.”

  • The trailer didn’t reveal who was who in the film, but it did showcase a young girl answering the door to an apartment, looking through the peephole, and telling the visitor, “You don’t look so good, mom.”
In response, the visitor said something like, “Your mom is with the maggots now.” Lovely.
    • The trailer showcases somebody reading that god-forsaken incantation from the Necronomicon. You know the one – it’s the thing that turns all of your loved ones into flesh-eating demons. Unfortunately for Beth and company, it doesn’t matter if the book is read in a cabin or an apartment, in the woods or a big city – when those words are read, your friends are dead. (We just came up with that tagline. It should be on the poster). The trailer featured multiple ‘Deadites,’ one of whom even chomped on a piece of glass. And yes, he swallowed it. And the audience saw the glass go in, and out, of his throat.
    • The trailer revealed that this film will very much be in the vein of the Fede Alvarez Evil Dead‘remake.’ Ash vs Evil Dead, this is not. It’s scary, it’s violent, and it does not let up.

They are not "demons". And they don't eat flesh.

It's ONE demon: The Kandarian Demon aka Kandar aka Rotten Apple Head. It's ONE demon possessing one or two living beings at a time.

Cheryl, Shelly, Linda, Scott, Henrietta, Ed --- they were all part of the same entity.

Evil Dead Rise Makes a Small but Significant Deadite Change

Writer/director Lee Cronin has revealed that Evil Dead Rise will feature some chatty Deadites.

Speaking with Empire Magazine, Cronin recalled the advice Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi -- who is involved as an executive producer on Rise -- gave him regarding the franchise's parasitic demons, the Deadites: "[Make sure there are good Deadites." Cronin apparently took Raimi's advice to heart, with Evil Dead Rise set to feature plenty of the "heinous, horrible, entertaining bastards." The writer/director continued to tease the Deadites in the film, saying, "What I love about the Evil Dead is that these aren’t just mindless zombies. They talk [and] taunt. There’s more Deadite dialogue than ever before."

Evil Dead Rise Balances Horror and Comedy
Although Evil Dead Rise will be a standalone entry in the horror franchise, Cronin has revealed that he is hoping his film will emulate both the horror and comedy of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead 2 (1987) and Fede Álvarez's Evil Dead (2013). "I think this is a balls-to-the-wall, roller coaster of terror, but I was determined that even in the darkest situations there can be levity," he said. "Evil Dead Rise is not as bawdy as Evil Dead 2 and it’s not as dark as Evil Dead 2013. But there is levity, and I think some of the levity comes through the outlandishness of the horror that unfolds on screen."

Yeah that's definitely Lee Cronin's aesthetic from Hole in the Ground.
