Exposed - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Oh and one more thing, the stripper getting hit by the car was awesome(not because she got hit) the effects reminded me of Meet Joe Black. Made me say daaaaaamn.

It actually didn't bother me that they made no mention of Martha, she does work at the Talon remember, but I thought it was good that they explained where Lana was.
Ironically, the only character I "missed" was Lionel. LOL If it wasn't for the fact that people lamented Lana not being there - or Martha for that matter - I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

The lack of Lana must have sent DTS into a tailspin. Are they okay over there? LOLOLOL!!! Course, I'll probably be pissing and moaning during the ep that TW directs. I doubt there will be too much of HIM on screen during that ep, and possibly even the one prior to it. :(

Is that the first time that Kristen's never been in an episode? I think so.
I think so too. Maybe she was sick or something?

I've watched the episode twice, and I thought his looks was brilliant. He was really thinking. :)
The stuff in the strip club was hilarious. I tend to put myself in the character's places though, and if I were clark, I would have raised an eyebrow if somebody started talking "super powers" around me.

Sometimes it's the writer's fault. Even in Hidden, Clark's response to Lionel (when Lionel was really Jor-El) was kind of strange. Not to go too far off topic here, but Clark has become adept at deniability - almost as good as Lex. Clark will ask Lex a question, and Lex will respond with a question in return: "What do you think, Clark?" Well, Clark does that too, but the responses (from both characters) are usually ambiguous. Clark's response to what was ostensively Lionel calling him Kal-El, was, "how do you know to call me that?" when it SHOULD have been, "WHY are you calling me that?"

Anyhoo, I digress. I just think Clark should have reacted differently instead of being expressionless in that scene. One of the posters here (I forget who) came down hard on the expression (or lack-there-of) from Clark in the hospital bed just before he dies in Hidden. I never gave that scene a second thought, but for some reason, a comment about super powers coming from Luke Duke stuck out like a sore thumb. LOL Dif'rent strokes, I guess. ;)

Now could someone explain to me about Lex's little King David speech, was he talking about him and Clark?
I just saw it as commentary about how every hero has a dark side. The reverse way of looking at it, especially since the story was being told by Lex, would be that even villain's have redeeming values.

Oh, and the helicopter scene, fantastic.
Agreed. 'Twas a MAJOR homage to S:TM. The effects were well done too.

Oh, and Hulk, when it comes to embarrassments to the legend, we'll have plenty to laugh at in about seven months. Hell, from the photos alone, we have it now! Roll with the punches, dude. I'm looking forward to next summer in more ways than one. LOL

I definitely liked it better after a second viewing, I think I was so wound up before it came on, mostly from the WB promo for it, that it took a bit to adjust to the ep's fairly low-key feel, and the being mainly in Metropolis was new too, so I spent the hour adjusting as well as following the story, so I missed quite a bit during the first time.

I still think they need to perfect the transitions from Metropolis to Smallville. Not sure why Clark and Lex and back together, but thats Clark, wanting to trust so much he'll give you as many chances as it takes.

I think that was something I felt as well, plus my husband was sitting next to me asking me 20 questions  When I went and watched it again on my own later, I got alot more out of it, plus I didnt have to keep rewinding to Lois's stripping scene. :)

I loved the Clark and Lois foreshadowing, and was it just me, or was some attraction hinted at, subtley but I thought it was there, in the end scene (which I loved) especially.

I definitely saw something too.
Get the feeling when things fall apart with Lana she might be the one to help him pick up the pieces.

And do I even need to mention how ridiculously gorgeous our superboy was? Good god, I thought my tv would melt.

No you dont, but its always great to hear it again and again and again .......;) :D and I totally agree.

Funny, I hardly ever miss Lionel.

I think she was completing the filming of her movie Partition (or whatever it is). They filmed Thirst before Aqua, so she could do that.

Yes, but he is supposed to be good at hiding his emotions.

I think it may have been Tripet, but she softened on that opinion after she'd watched it a couple of more times.

I thought it may have had double meaning, especially about taking the wife while the hero was out to battle. Lex/Lana/Clark.

Mmmm... more Lois love going on over at DTS nowadays, if you can believe it...

Serene knows more about that than I, however... I stick to the TW threads mostly and mostly just to the photo threads.

I think she was AWOL from episodes a couple of times last season, but I think KK is filming her movie "Partition" and not sick.

Which character do you think is going to die? Chloe or Lois?? I couldn't quite tell from this statement.

Chloe

The redeeming value to this episode I feel was in the subtext: Every hero has their flaws - and it's not easy being one. A nice metaphor was when Chloe put on the dancer's angel wings and said they're heavier than they look, and then promptly took them off.

Thought that might also serve a dual purpose. Sort of foreshadowing things to come if you will.

The more I think about it, I think that Chloe is gonna be the one to bite it in episode 100.

They've got to make way for Lois to come in and be the star reporter. As far as we know, Lois NEVER had a cousin who was a hotshot reporter like her. .

I don't think the producers would be so cruel as to crumble Chloe's hopes and dreams and have her go work for some dinky local paper while her cousin Lois who never had much interest in journalism rises to the top.

Not to mention that she knows about Clark, and girls in Clark's life who discover his secret either a.) forget or b.) die.

Yeah, true. That was me.

But the problem I had with that hospital scene wasn't so much the look on his face so much as the look of his face...

He was too damn healthy looking.

Clark shoulda been pale if nothing else...

Also, this may serve as further proof that Lex sees himself as the hero.

heh I thought that as well. I said to my wife that she might want to get used to wearing those....

Last nights episode was HORRIBLE! What a piece of utter dreck. First of all, the Duke Boy references were obvious and forced. LAME LAME LAME. Might as well of had Cooter show up while Jonathan blew up a barn with a diatomite arrow. Does Ol' Mill Creek Road connect Smallville and Hazard County? Sheesh.

Second, can you even begin to count the coincidences? Chloe and Lois just happen to be there at the exact moment when the hooker gets run over, a hooker who just happens to be a certain Luke Duke's girlfriend, a certain Luke Duke who is running for Senator against a certain Lex Luthor, the same Luke duke who just happens to be at the Kent farm at all the right times. Lois must dress up *to dress down* like a stripper to avoid us getting caught and Clark just so happens to show up using Lex's membership and Lois gives Clark the obligatory awkward pseudo lap dance while the cops just so happen to bust the joint at that exact moment while Lois gets kidnapped WTF? Are they recycling plots from Days Of Our Lives? Clark happens to be on the roof top just as the helicopter is taking off and the police arrive just in time to "lock 'em up boys" and give Clark and Lois a scolding. Every second of the broadcast contained another clunky plot device.

Been watching it since the pilot, but I think I am done with Smallville.

umm does your TV not have sound by any chance? because all of those events you call "coincidences" were explained pretty well in the episode...

I didn't think it was all that bad, but you might want to watch a couple more before you give up on it altogether... next week's and the episode the week after that look to be excellent.

James Marsters' Brainiac will be back for those so you should watch again if only for that.

Are you really that dense? It was POORLY written. My nine year old daughter was groaning and saying "yeah, right." And that's coming from a girl who's favorite show next to Smallville is That's So Raven.

Dense? LOL no, but apparently you must be since you couldnt find cohesion in the plot elements. It wasnt that complicated to follow.. Then again if your gauging the show by how your 9 year old reacts to it, I'm not sure why I'm even bothering discussing it with you...

Well, her taking the wings OFF could be indicative too.

As much as Chloe and Jonathan are the most logical "sacrifices," I still have my doubts they're gonna off either this year, but we'll see.

It seems like people go at each other at the drop of a hat here.

LOL! Have you been to the Superman film forums, by any chance? This place is TAME!!! :p

most of the people here are usually pretty on the level. then you get some people who come in once and while who wig out if you present an opposing opinion

Ok fair enough the fact that they didnt show her acctually putting them on could also be a clue as well. Who does that leave though? Johnathan, Fine, Martha, Lana, and Lionel, Did I miss anyone?

They had Superman's reflection in the Daily Planet Globe again. I thought it was a bit more obvious this time.

Well in order to move a story along they have to skip some things that explain scenes. I've just watched it for the third time, and honestly it was all very well explained. It was by no means as contrived as some of the cop stories on TV.

And as Triplet said, hang in there as the plot is going to get very thick in the next couple of episodes.

Killgore, have you really been watching this show since the pilot because these coincidences happen all the time in Smallville, not to mention just about every other TV show.

As for the Lex King David story, could that be foreshadowing of next week's episode? Clark does think Lex is trying to get with Lana during that episode.

Also liked the all heroes have flaws subplot, actually reminded me of Batman's line in Infinite Crisis, "The last time you inspired someone was when you died", I know it's not the same context, but that line just popped in my head during that part of the episode.

Finally, as a kid who loved the Duke boys back in the '80s loved all those references as chessy as they were. That's the Duke boys, not those @$$clowns on the big screen this summer!

I'm thinking something like this as well.

I know on the surface he was talking about Jennings, but there just seemed to be some hidden meanings in there as well.
