As for Jonathan being sorry later for having been on a pulpit (no, Lex, not a "pull-pit," a pulpit. Why didn't someone teach MR to pronounce the word properly? ), that was perfectly in character. One reason I'm so fond of Jonathan is that he does realize his mistakes and learns from them -- he's done that in any number of episodes.

That's a good point, Gina. It is kind of nice that they brought that around again.

And props for whoever thought of putting JS in a blue shirt and a baby-blue car -- really brought out those gorgeous eyes of his. :D
He did look really good last night. This episode gets a 5/5 on the SV Eye-Candy scale. :D

Nice caps, Sage.

The line I didn't like was where Jonathan said he'd never liked Lex much. That wasn't just harsh, but also it didn't quite fit continuity. ("Exodus" and the wedding gift, anyone?)

Well a lot has happened since then, for one Lex shot him in the knee in "Onyx"

You're right about that. But it was the word "never" that I was thinking of.

Great caps, Sage! :)

Also with the way they Lois was touting Chloe's feelings for Clark early on she's so dead in 100.
Which character do you think is going to die? Chloe or Lois?? I couldn't quite tell from this statement.

I completely agree that this was just a 'meh' episode. It just *felt* weird to me. I'm going to rewatch it, however, to see if I just needed to get used to the Metropolis feel of it.

This episode was... so so. Kind of middle of the road, though the chopper scene at the end *was* exciting. There were a couple of things that bugged me. The train trestle location is overused at this point. They should find another location to shoot, but I suppose they have good reason now. Apparently, they chose not to use the original footage with all the explosions due to the stunt man being injured by the fall. Ah vell. But the woman getting hit by a car was pretty visceral, so it still worked.

Acting from the principals was top notch, though I think Welling could have chosen better reactions in a few scenes. Clark still has that SOS look on his face sometimes ("Stuck On Stupid" LOL). For example, when Jennings tells Clark that sooner or later you can't hide your super powers any more (or something along those lines - I only saw the episode once and need to rewatch it for proper quotes), I EXPECTED at *least* a raised eyebrow from Clark. But he just stared back, expressionless. Meh. C'mon Welling. I KNOW you can do better than that.

Acting from the guest bad guy (Mr. "Diplomatic Immunity" - nice homage to Donner's Lethal Weapon 2, BTW) was good. All the other guests were poor, ESPECIALLY the dancers. Were *any* of them "real" actresses, I wonder? And honestly, I think Wopat has lost his spark. He seemed to be phoning in a few scenes, though I loved the introduction of his character in the iconic Charger. That was well done and put a smile on my face. "That the best ya got?" Hee!

The redeeming value to this episode I feel was in the subtext: Every hero has their flaws - and it's not easy being one. A nice metaphor was when Chloe put on the dancer's angel wings and said they're heavier than they look, and then promptly took them off. Jennings points out that heroes are envied, but people are constantly looking for them to fail. It's wincing commentary on how people relate better to heroes with flaws. When a hero makes a mistake it knocks them off their pedestal (pulpit?) and makes them more like everybody else.

In that context the most interesting revelation by far was Lex's point about David. Clark says they conveniently leave off the non hero parts of David's tale, something that SV as a show about Superman - the greatest hero of all time - never does. In fact, they revel in it. ;)

PS: I can't WAIT till next week's episode, Splinter. Now THAT is gonna be phenomenal, I'm sure.

Of course they revel in it; it's th' formula that made Marvel #1 so Mr. Supes needed to be corrected to take advantage of it. At least this show didn't happen pre-Crisis, otherwise nothin' woulda ever hurt him an' he'd be Mr. Perfect Puss.

I thought the episode was good, its good to see them mix things up with a real crime story. No being a Dukes of Hazzard fan, I didnt get alot of the references, but understood some and thought they were funny.

It actually didnt bother me that they made no mention of Martha, she does work at the Talon remember, but I thought it was good that they explained where Lana was. Is that the first time that Kristen's never been in an episode? I think so.

Lois, Clark, Chloe were all great and I really liked how they showed Lois to be the one with the smarts and a real compassion for what was going on.

I've watched the episode twice, and I thought his looks was brilliant. He was really thinking. :)

Now could someone explain to me about Lex's little King David speech, was he talking about him and Clark?

Oh, and the helicopter scene, fantastic.

Last night's episode was an embarrassment to the Superman legend........

Not as much of an embarrassment as something like say...Lois having a kid :o Go away troll....

The obvious forced Dukes of Hazzard references, the too convenient plot devices, the bad acting, the "OC" type feel, and writing that is clearly motivated by ratings only, not a quality product.........

Troll? I happen to show up here every once and a while. I'm a troll for you not liking my opinion? What a little cry baby.............

No Clark was saying how he can't believe he looked up to Jennings.

Lex was saying that everyone makes their mistakes, and used King David as an example, showing that even great people also make mistakes.

That is what I got from it.

yeah you show up every once in a while to type your same lame response (bad acting? check, ratings ploy? check, OC or Dawsons Creek reference? check), which I'm guessing you probably have some kind of macro that does it for you?

I'm a troll for you not liking my opinion? What a little cry baby.............

No you damn well why your a troll. Your the same person who lambastes people in the SR forums for posting crap like "this is an embrassment to the legend, etc." Grow up, and stop being a hypocrite. It's hilarious how you consider an episode like that an embarrassment to Superman, yet when Singer is basically going to be sticking things up the legends ass come June, you'll line up for it with a smile...

No, I have some positive responses every once and a while, but truthfully, there's not much positive going on with the show though............

Grow up? Calling me a troll for not liking my opinion is immature, so it's you that needs to grow up. I stated my reasons after I was asked the question.......If you don't like my opinion, fine, but no need to throw in insults........As far as Singer messing it up, we don't know that yet. If he does, I'll be the first to admit it..............

This was a great episode. I love the episode from The Begining to the end. Much better than Thirst.

The good.
(1) Lois Lane
(2) Clark Kent in Metropolis , in a nice suit & not in flannel.
(3) The Daily Planet
(4) Lois & Clark Undercover (Lois as a stripper, Clark undercover.)
(5) Lois kicking this diplomat villain ass
(6) NO Lana Lang (I hope this happens more often.)
(7)Chloe, Lois & Clark
\8/More Lois & Clark Forshadowing
(9)Bo & Luke Duke
(10)The Car (The Charger)
(11)Maggie Sawyer
(12)Lex Luthor (forshadowing : President Lex Luthor)
(13)Clark saves Lois The helicopter scene rocked.
(14) No Kryptonite Freaks.

I thought that too but I also thought there was underlying stuff there as well. Like stealing his wife while he was out to battle. Sounds like something just around the corner.

Milkman, if you dont like something, then you dont like it that's fair enough but the reasons you give are just so not justified. I think that's the problem we might have with your comments.

Why aren't they justified? It's opinion-based of course, not fact, so if that's the case, I can see where you're coming from........

I guess I could adhere to the famous saying, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all"...........

I definitely liked it better after a second viewing, I think I was so wound up before it came on, mostly from the WB promo for it, that it took a bit to adjust to the ep's fairly low-key feel, and the being mainly in Metropolis was new too, so I spent the hour adjusting as well as following the story, so I missed quite a bit during the first time.

I still think they need to perfect the transitions from Metropolis to Smallville. Not sure why Clark and Lex and back together, but thats Clark, wanting to trust so much he'll give you as many chances as it takes.

I know Lex didn't do what he accused him of, and it was damn rude of Clark to come barging in making accusations, but it doesn't erase everything else Lex did do. I was happy Lex told Jonathan off, though I think Jonathan has every right not to trust Lex, and never should, but to assume guilt with no proof is wrong, no matter who you;re dealing with, but thats Jonathan.

I loved the Clark and Lois foreshadowing, and was it just me, or was some attraction hinted at, subtley but I thought it was there, in the end scene (which I loved) especially.

And do I even need to mention how ridiculously gorgeous our superboy was? Good god, I thought my tv would melt.

Overall, its been a pretty good season thus far, and even though this isn't my favorite ep, I enjoyed it, and there was lots good about it. And Lana, didn't even miss her really...would have liked to see Martha, but its not the first time she's not been there. She does provide a nice balance to Jonathan though, which would have been cool to see.

And can we please stop editing the hell out of promos for next week's show, I dont know what I seeing, I think it looked pretty cool, but whos to say? lol. Anyone know who's directing Splinter?

Good episode, just left me wanting a little more, Lois is smoking, but her dancing did nothing for her. I know she was supposed to feel awkward up there, but guys were looking at her like she was the most fantastic thing to ever take a stage. Love when Lex and Jonathan are in the kitchen and Lex calls Jennings a good ole boy. All in all I enjoyed it. Next week looks to be a great one.
