So the official Avengers page on Facebook goes and announces the cities that win the contest for advance screenings on Saturday. Everyone that follows this link finds out all the shows are already sold out.

Next we learn this announcement and link was posted on another site three hours prior.

So they hold a contest for Facebook users and tell them all where to go to reserve tickets after the fact.

They were there this morning at noon, like they said they would be...

Yeah, but you gotta consider in the Internet age, this stuff is going to happen. Yeah it sucks, but in all honesty, I kinda want to wait until May to see it anyway. I mean April just doesn't seem like the beginning to the summer blockbuster season.

Ummmm .... hate to break it to you, but I got mine RSVP'd off Facebook bud.
He means they only actually announced it on their Facebook wall a few minutes ago. But the RSVPs were up on the screening page at noon EST like they said they would be

They did their part. They told everyone about it last week. Also, I have an update on my news feed from 52 minutes ago.

That was a screw-up by Marvel's Facebook team, and it's understandable that some fans are furious. They should have posted the announcement on their main Facebook page as soon as tickets were available, rather than waiting several hours.

But to be fair to Marvel, they announced when the second round of cities would be posted last Monday. They even announced the time it would go live, though unfortunately they opened it up about five minutes early. People who visit the FB page regularly should have bookmarked the announcement page and come online early to see which cities have screenings.

Actually it was sold out for 3 hours before the Facebook announcement. So if youre relying on your newsfeed then you're kind of screwed.

I got mine by refreshing before the advertised time at the screening page. If you're not dedicated enough to actively look for the right page after all the announcements, end of the day it's still your own fault as other fans got theirs fair and square.

Edit: This isn't targeted to OP btw, just the fans who missed out.

I think it's a time zone mix-up, the RSVPs went live at noon EST while the announcement went live at noon PST.

Bro ... they told you the freakin' time it was gonna be unveiled last week. That's your own fault waiting on a stupid FB update to act. When I went to it earlier this morning it said right on the FB page "Congrats to the 5 cities" so no, it wasn't sold out before a Facebook announcement.

Actually I'm just posting the incident, I'm not upset since I just learned of this now. I'm also not your "bro" so stop with that.

Apparently the marketing screw up was bad enough that Marvel/Disney took down every indication of the additional screenings on their FB and Twitter pages lol!

You got to be quicker than quick to get on this with high speed internet. Sucks but them's the breaks.

It's still all over their facebook

I was able to get my RSVP through for myself and a guest on Facebook. So I mean, it wasn't it impossible. Sometimes it might only be two minutes well man it's rough but that's what you have to do. Sometimes ticket sales sellout fast and these were FREE.

My mistake, the new FB timeline format confused me a bit. They definitely took that tweet off their Twitter though.

I can still see the tweet. I replied that the tix were already gone.

Ok I definitely need to cut down on the crack...

Wait I still don't see the Avengers tweet anymore, you can still see it? I replied to it but I went back and it was gone.

Meh doesn't matter, it's old news anyway. Even older when Avengers tweeted about it well past noon PST.

Got my tickets for Saturday in Orlando!
