Bethesda Fallout 4

I haven't even gone after the baby, at all. I've just been doing side quests.

I always like to play in-character and try to do things I think the character would do. Fallout 4 is the first time I've played any of the Elder Scrolls, or Fallout games, where I haven't gone wandering off in a random direction. Usually I can concoct some reason or another why my character goes walkabout the moment they're able, but in the case of Fallout 4 I just couldn't see my guy prioritizing anything more than finding his kid.

It was only really later on in the story after certain events took place that I could slow down the pursuit and alternate between the main quest and various side jobs.

I'm the same way and it's a logical story to go through but the missions themselves seems like a drag or not so much fun.

You're happy having less freedom? I wasn't a huge fan of New Vegas either, it was fun but certainly not my favourite Fallout game -but being able to change the world and complete quests in almost any way I chose definitely wasn't the reason why.

I didn't get that at all from NV . Not a bit. I felt like I was in a straight Jacket.
Yes, I had some choices in their railroad which could switch the cars but most of it was pretty linear bland experience to me.

I'm not sure I understand. Do you feel Fallout 4 is less linear in it's approach to quests than New Vegas was?

Claiming New Vegas railroads you is one of those funny little arguments that can't even hide behind the shield of subjective experience. It is inarguably the more open and non-linear game.

You can go straight to the Tops if you want, all the way from Goodsprings, you just have to be careful and hide. In Fallout 4 if you go to Kellog's house early, not only is there no button, but even no cigars. You can't find Virgil early, you can't choose to let the Minutemen die, you can barely kill any named character, or finish quests in different ways or different checks, and all the time you can't prevent your character from talking Shaun, Shaun, Shaun.

This is why I'm trying to understand Steamtek's point a little better. I feel like he's saying New Vegas is the more linear game, but I can't imagine that's the case because, as you say, it's not even a little subjective.

Wait, there's a baby that needs saving? I've been too busy trying to get my plumbing working at the settlement!

Fallout NV is the least railroaded of all the main Fallout games:

Fallout: Get a water chip ASAP before your whole vault all die
Fallout 2: Get a GECK to save a village as soon as possible
Fallout 3: Find your father
Fallout 4: Save your infant son

Fallout NV: Deliver the mail, and get revenge for being shot.

Fallout 2 does not railroad you into finding a GECK, You can go straight to Navarro and then to the Enclave Oil rig and finish the game right out of Arroyo. It's just not the likely that most people are going to do that. Also there is no time limit on finding the GECK and multiple places to find one.

After the first game having a time limit I wasn't taking any chances when I played part 2.

Also I was talking more the story making it feel urgent that you do nothing but what was asked of you from the start.

Fair enough. Tim Cain has openly admitted to regretting the Water Chip time limit which is why that wasn't done in Fallout 2. The only thing that really effects that part of the main quest is where you get the GECK.

ok I have sightly off topic but related things here. bethesda opens anew studio on the east side of canada and fall out and shy rim figures for under 30 $ bucks

Have you guys found Kremvh's Tooth? It's a dagger/melee weapon, and I feel kinda bad using it, cause it's incredibly powerful. I can kill just about everything in one hit with it. Its insane.

My character has a pretty high melee damage, though. Not sure how powerful it is if you haven't been increasing your melee stats?

How do I find the damn railroad trail and go to analyze the courses ship? Locations doesn't show up on the map.

Oh yeah and in the Old Guns mission, What am I supposed to build and exactly how do I blow up the dirt to get into the old armory?

The Railroad:

In the city area surrounding Diamond City there is a place called Park Street Station (this was already marked on my map after overhearing a conversation). There is a Protectron Bot hanging around who offers a tour. If you talk to the robot he'll mention The Freedom Trail. On the ground there is like, a round metal plate with writing on it, this is a Freedom Trail Marker. Examine the marker by pushing the Action Button, and then follow the red brick line from this marker to the next one and so on. This will take you to the Railroad.

As to the Old Guns, use the crafting system to remove the rocks (as far as I know this doesn't work on any of the other rocks). The rest will take of itself.

Bit annoyed. Was doing the Silver Shroud mission, but it bugged out. Can't talk to Hancock and can't even use the only work around since I already refused to take him with me earlier. Even post patch it's not working. Shame as it was a fun mission.

Thanks but so what craft removes the rocks?

Eh, I think I'm going to put this away for a little while. I'm just not really feeling it right now, maybe when I come back later I'll feel a little differently, maybe just start over from scratch.

Even though we can find supplies anywhere, I kind hate having to build a bunch of things during missions.

I save up aluminum and stuff to constantly repair my armor suit but right now I need to build artillery at the minutemen's castle and I used up a lot of supplies to build two artillery guns and it's still not enough while I also have to build a damn teleporter for the main story

There should have been enough materials for the artillery guns in the Castle's armory.
