This is one spot and it's called a new generation of heroes. The main focus is the four. Not Doom. Not that hard to understand. If every spot released is the same and they use the same exact footage then by all means complain. I'll stand corrected.

Agreed. Many movies try to keep the antagonist in the dark. This is not bad thing if it works in the end.

Doom is a huge fan favorite. They need to sell audiences that they've actually gotten him right this time. Everything we've seen so far indicates that they HAVE NOT. And even if they have somehow nailed the Four, ruining Doom for a third time makes this an automatic fail.

That's because they barely showed Doom. All I remember is him standing, turning around and not doing any real stuff. Need to wait for the next trailer. Also, honestly, I don't think the audience will be able to tell whether the filmmakers got a character right until they watch the movies and not from the trailers. So this is a slippery slope.

With the possible exception of Wolverine, Dr. Doom is the most well-known and iconic character Fox has. If they were smart, they would do him right and they would feature him heavily in their marketing.

He's a techno-hobo that (at least before reshoots) blogs.

They didn't do him right and he won't be a focus in marketing. Teller mentioned in an interview some time ago that Kebbell wasn't supposed to say what he said and that Kebbell doesn't like the whole media attention part of acting.

So far, the characters that haven't had on screen speaking moments are the Thing and Doom after their transformations. I really think that if these 2 primarily digital characters don't work on the screen, then no matter how entertaining Jordan is as the Torch, he won't be able to save movie any more than Chris Evans performance 'saved' the 2 Story films.

I also agree with that. I honestly want to see more Doom before I watch the movie.

A little off-topic question. How many of you liked the Silver Surfer from the second movie? He is only thing I remember from the last two movies. And I thought he was badass even though he wasn't given a lot to do. But he did single handedly take out Galactus INO when the four didn't do much ****. LOL

If I had to name a single best character in the first two films, I'd probably have to go with Surfer.

I think he worked well. It's a shame they couldn't have built a better movie around him.

Didn't like the fact that Norrin was completely dependent upon his board, but the character looked and sounded great in ROTSS. If only the four didn't sit out the final battle -and the movie didn't revolve around a wedding - Story may have had something.

The film definitely needed to fast-forward from the prior installment. Skip over the wedding, Sue's pregnancy and Franklin's birth. Have Sue and Reed tickled that their child is developing normally. Then after watching the Surfer get trounced by Galactus, the Big Guy beats a hasty retreat. And while the Four and Radd are wondering what happened, we see Sue and Reed's little boy staring up into the heavens.

Then by that logic Toby Kebbell shouldn't have opened his mouth about Domeshev to begin with.... Correct?

My point exactly and yet some here thought it hard to understand......

supposedly doom will have some action in the final trailer which should be coming out soon

Yes, but you took my word too literally. If they really kept him in the dark, we wouldn't know that he exists in the movie. Makes sense? Hope so. I just meant they are not ready to reveal him just yet, for whatever reason.

The more I see the less I like, the Thing looks horrible. I think I should have just watched that first trailer and left it cause now I'm a little off seeing this.

Wasn't Kebbell speaking off the record? "Like we're cool so I'll tell you" and then the dude leaked it.

Surfer sucked cause he kept referring to people we never met. His master and his love. How are we supposed to be sympathetic to that.

Yeah, the fact that we have yet to hear Grimm speak a lot more in the spots is kinda bugging me.

I wanna see more Doom. A slight head turn isn't enough. I know they wanna save some stuff for the movie which is fine, but I just wish I had some more Doom.

As I recall (and my memory could be faulty) it was a regular interview but as Kebbel was answering he was saying things like: 'I probably shouldn't be saying this.'

And they turned out in droves to see a talking raccoon and tree wise crack it up in space.

The GA will see whatever the hell is presented to them as long as it looks interesting and new and shiny.

Their opinion on the source material and how faithful a movie adaptation to it is means less than dick.

So why not throw the long time fans a bone and actually put in effort to make your thing look like the thing they love as much as possible outside of bare minimum?

Unless their ego is far too big to do that.
I don't think it's an ego thing. I agree that it could have been executed better but it's just their interpretation. Marvel itself rebooted the original Fantastic Four and changed up the characters stories and what not. Fox are doing the same to give it a fresh spin. Whether it works or not is yet to be seen. I understand being a fan and feeling like they are screwing it up, but I think also that Fox don't owe any fan an explanation. They have the rights and can do what they want (even if it's a cheap rights grab as people say, they still have the rights that they paid for). If this proves unsuccessful then let's hope they learn their lesson.

It didn't the first time.

Those movies were fairly faithful but bad.

Now they're going in the opposite direction, and it still might be bad. Maybe less bad, but bad.

Fox has no idea what to do with comic book properties without guys like Bryan Singer and Matthew Vaughn(to a lesser extent) to steer them in the right direction.

They're trying to make Kinberg that guy for these movies, but then they ALSO wanted to cheap out and try and put as little investment as possible as well as a highly egotistical and destructive inexperienced director at the helm.

They don't get rewarded for bad decisions because they've had good decisions made FOR them by other people.

EDIT: And it's absolutely an ego thing. Trank and Kinberg made that clear with the last interview. "[The Fantastic Four] weren't mine" from Trank and "We thought it would be more interesting[regarding their **** up of Ben Grimm's character] from Kinberg. They think their ideas are better than what's worked for more or less the past 54 years. That's ego.

Totally agree. Hopefully we see something in the next trailer.

Honestly, I like what they are doing with Ben Grimm here. I understand Kinberg's reason behind it and personally I know it will work better in my head.

I don't understand things like: Making the containment suits black/brown. Why not just make them blue?

That seems like an attempt to intentionally distance themselves from the comic books.

I think a simple thing like making the containment suits blue would have made a big difference regarding how the film is being perceived.

Because black containment suits are totes edgy and cool. For kids dealing with these terrible disabilities.

I know the designer died so I doubt we will get a definitive answer. Maybe he didn't want to invoke their costumes cause these aren't costumes? Like this isn't supposed to feel like one step away from their real stuff. X-men made fun of the comic costumes cause the black suits were meant to replace them. These containment suits are supposed to be disposed of.

Did you just reference a linkin park song or its just me who recognized those lyrics?lol

Oh I definitely did.

Mopey 20 somethings burdened with the curse of amazing powers disabilities.

Fits the theme well.
