I found out something new today....if a movie is being made about characters you have read and loved 50 years, but everything you see and read about it's production says they will not make it look anything like the characters you have read and loved for 50 years....then some people on here think you must go see it and love it anyway or you are just an entitled fanboy.

pretty much

There is not a single celebrity alive who doesn't have a camp of people who talk crap about them online. There is nothing special about Miles Teller in that regard whatsoever.

"Oh but he's in the dreadful FF movie, it must just be the evil entitled fanboys picking on him. Miles is such a precious extra-special-snowflake no one but terrible brainwashed Marvel drones could possible dislike him. How unfair!"

Please.

"I'm passionate therefore I can say some seriously mean things about young actors performing a role they didn't even right"

Have you heard what people say about Teller? Yeesh.

nothing has been THAT harsh towards teller.. the worst i see is "looks like rachel maddow" and that's really not that bad... i mean... this isn't anywhere near the Shailene Woodly MJ level

Does get tiring seeing the same individuals crying troll yet derailing threads with their arguing.

and lets not pretend they're sitting at home reading these comments and crying in a corner.. they go on Jimmy Kimmel and read the "mean tweets" and laugh them off

Enjoy your orgy of hatred. I hope Teller makes an appearance.

Noone is saying you have to see it but if you have no intrest in seeing why be on board to bash it.I have no intrest In Ant-man yet you don't see me on it's
board.

I hated with passion the reimaging of battlestar galactica as fan of original but didn't spend every waking moment online bashing it like some do and it was far more in name only than this.

If marvel hadn't make the ultimate line then they wouldn't be using ultimate FF as source for this film.

And that's how you justify entitlement.
I guess I am entitled then....I am entitled to only pay to watch the movies I want to watch and to read the books I want to read.

I'm glad to know that you go to every single movie released and read every single book that is published even if you are not interested in the subject matter. But me....I only see the ones I am interested in and only read the books that I am interested in.

Enjoy your orgy of hatred. I hope Teller makes an appearance.

Your "orgy of hatred" is my "safe haven for commiserating with fellow long time FF fans disgusted by the shabby treatment of Marvel's beloved First Family in the golden age of comic book movies."

... again for the billionth time.. there's really not all that much "ultimate" in this... any fan of the ultimate universe can also see that... ages, the N zone, and a few minor influences doesn't make it "ultimate based"

people are part of this message board because they're upset.. and have every right to be here as those who are excited.

I think hating a movie before it comes out because it isn't being made by the studio you want or because it hasn't followed your personal recommendations qualifies the entitled part. Not specific to only this movie but this attitude is defining this board in ways not seen in other boards.
Yeah well generalizing people you don't know who won't support the same crap as you is irrelevant.

Fox-Marvel has taken a lot of my money over the years due to me following your logic. That stopped when Marvel Studios got on the same page as most Comic book fans and GA alike. Before the MCU we were only entitled to crap like Elektra, Story's FF films and X3. (Honorable mention to SM3, War Zone and Ghost Rider)

H3ll even after Ironman released Fox was still making crap like Origins which gave people pause in the first place. So if the demand for quality with CBM's is somehow wrong then you're "entitled" to your opinion. Just don't expect the pathetic name calling to govern my wallet this lifetime.

re-open the positive thread imo

Yeah, it is getting tiring to see the same arguments over and over again whenever the race issue comes up.

Anything related to the actors gets written here invites comments such as "he turned me off by calling out the trolls" or "He turned me off by disrespecting the fans". Good, it is your opinion and I respect it but I heard that a lot in this very thread. It is then followed by comments from people who think otherwise. This cycle repeats itself over and over again and doesn't leave room to argue about the actual subject matter that invited such comments.

No one's disliking him for defending himself. They're disliking him for lashing out at the wrong people and for simultaneously insulting them.

This is the point, though. He's not lashing out at the wrong people.

The wrong people are assuming he's lashng out at them, when in fact, he's not talking about them at all. He's addressing a specific portion of the internet community.

It's pretty simple. If you're not a troll, you don't need to take offense when someone addresses the trolls. Along the same lines, if you're not acting with an air of entitlement, you don't need to get offended when someone points out that entitlement exists in the fanboy world.

Quite a few people seem to feel the need to defend themselves against something they've not even personally been accused of. It's all very dramatic.

Honestly, if this film exposed anything, it's the basic comprehension and communicaton issues that are rampant online

(Someone from the production says "X")

FAN IN QUESTION: "Why, they must mean 'Y'! They certainly don't mean 'X'!"

^^^^ this, i'm so over the days of seeing any comic movie because it was the first time they're on film, and at the time we thought that may be all we get.. so we just sorta ignored it's flaws..

there's no excuse now to not make good superhero films... that both pay respect to source material and keep everyone up to date and entertained.

Come on. You can't tell me you've manage to miss the explanation that's been given each time this has been asked. It's been put very simply numerous times. They're fans of FF who wish to discuss the movie. Good or bad. Some even seem willing to be convinced the movie may be better than it seems. Do you honestly believe they shouldn't discuss the movie at all or that certain opinions should be checked before allowed to post here?

and yet it's the defenders always bringing it up.... be it hypsters or the cast and crew...

we've been off the race discussion for a while before it was brought up yet again...

... well considering you have no more proof of this than our opinion of how to interpret what he's saying.... It appears the pot is calling the kettle black me thinks.

we feel he's generalizing and have explained why it's logical.. you feel he's being specific with no proof... don't call people out if you're doing the same thing :)

please give me quotes and sources for all instances you can find, where any of the cast talks about wanting to give the comic fans what they want.. and do these characters justice. Thanks :)

I didn't say a word about "giving the comic fans what they want."

Teller's comments, in 2014, via Huffington Post:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/08/miles-teller-whiplash_n_5947824.html

"It’s tough because when you’re taking on a franchise that’s already been established, you do kind of owe something to the characters and to the creator. At the same time, you want to bring it to a fresh audience. My dad grew up with the "Fantastic Four" comic book and not a lot of kids did, so you also want to make a movie that they can enjoy."

Jordan on his love for the Torch:

"So to be able to play a character that I always fantasized about and always wanted to be -- to have powers and stuff like that -- and to be a part of Marvel's family, it's a huge deal for me," he added. "I geek out about it."

"I grew up watching Saturday morning "X-Men" [another Marvel franchise] all the time," he said. "To me this is living out a dream - playing a comic book character I grew up reading."

Jordan on the iconic nature of Johnny Storm and how he's incorporating classic original Johnny stuff.

http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/ne...ur-advice-from-former-human-torch-chris-evans

"It’s been a lot of fun,” Jordan revealed in an interview with The Source. “Johnny Storm is such an iconic character. There’s a lot of personality traits and things to him that people are really going to look forward to seeing. Got a lot of original Johnny stuff in there and then you have – not a NEW take but a fresh take. We have a different take on different things as well. I could go on and on about it but I think it’s something that people will enjoy.”

some of them have said they have no intention of seeing film or will buy ticket for another film to see FF.They have every right not to see film but others would like to.

That is why it would be best to bring back postive and hope threads. The hope one can be for those who hate film and the postive one can be for those who want to see film. There would be no arguements anymore on film.

Would be good if there was a thread for people anticipating to discuss the content of the movie and speculate freely

True but 90% of the time the discussion is kept to the production and the politics over the movie content. Only content ive really seen discussed here is lamenting Doom is a blogger but not speculation over what he blogs about, if it's his job or just a hobby, how much will it feature in the movie ect, as well as lamenting the adopted sibling relationship over the biological without discussion over how if at all it changes the dynamic. People have said it changes everything but not often is it said how it changes anything in the context of the movies story and plot.

People are angry over these things but haven't truly considered or discussed how they factor in the movie. Doom as a blogger may just be a passing line or could even just be a backstory the actor created for himself in the role. There's been nothing to suggest that Doom will spend the majority of the movie at a desk eating Cheetos writing about Cat fashion but it's presumed to be similiar just because the word blogger was mentioned once by the actor.

Speculation of story, how the characters will change throughout, the score, the acting, how the military fits in, what happens to the N-Zone tech, the ending, the sequel and foreshadowing and so forth don't get to be discussed much as the focus is always either on the production, marketing & business side of things or those two above issues that come up again and again but never delve into how they will be in the story.

Thanks! that's actually the most positive (and respectful) thing to come out of the cast and crew yet. +1 to teller
