Cartoon and movie rights are completely seperate. And just pray tell how he'd ever have a film? Was it to be animated?

It was set to be a TV movie pilot (like Doctor Strange), which is why it affected a cartoon on television.

First ive heard of that... which is odd. I have no clue how they planned on pulling his effects off back then

I didnt just mention blade in this context... i mentioned punisher. Dd can also be family oriented... just like batman can.

Blade kills vampires... punisher kills people. Family films also tend to be void of guns...
I find this getting pointless because you keep coming up with supposed rules, I imagine based off some source material and then you beholden the concept to that alone.

For example: blade kills humans as well, Period. I've seen his movies.
For example: punisher doesn't have to kill anyone, which is why he appeared on STAS as he did and it went fine.
For example: Wolverine is one of the most prolific killers in comics yet he also appears in these children's programming and even in mostly family aimed movies, it's different from some of his source material but still very much viable, maybe even to the majority of his 'fans', for they come in all shapes at this point.

This is what happens when I don't pretend there are are rigid rules as to how these things are or can be presented. It's very much the mechanism for our ongoing discussion, for you no doubt are applying this thinking to what FF can and cannot do. Whereas I'm being 'open'. So yes by my logic, a punisher film can be "..." sure.

As for guns in family movies. Again, this is some rule you've conjured up. First debunked by my pointing to all the guns in disney animated, then their live action(from pirates/ranger/avengers even), then stuff like Indy or Jurassic Pa....I digress. If you are going to generalize, at least be more specific.

It was part of the same deal for the Hulk show and Cap/Doc Strange TV movies. but I don't think they had any clue how don the effects..
By the way, I don't think it's just the internet. this movie will probably be a Family Guy punchline for years over the Thing peeing.

That is an urban legend. A popular one, but a myth nevertheless. That dumb robot was used because Johnny had a film in development separate from the team.

The weirdest part of that matter is Im wondering whether Universal wanted Johnny just to amalgam him and Jim Hammond together or just Jim on his own.

The reason I bring up Hammond is that's the more than likely reason why they just wanted to development thefilm. It just doesn't seem right to just use Johnny given the fact he's apart of F4 than Hammond never was save for the guest spot or two

The Story films are on AMC tonight. Just watched about 15 minutes in the middle of the first one. I kind of forgot how all around bad it is.

Hard to believe in the first Story movie, Doom actually gets worse AFTER he puts on the mask. And he can't do math. After curing Ben of being the Thing and hitting him hard enough to kill him (despite not leaving a mark on him), then putting Reed on ice, and firing a heat-seeking missile at Johnny, he says "2 down, 2 to go". Uh, Doom, there's just one person left, ya dumbass! 4 minus 3 is ONE!

Over the years Johnny and Ben have typically been far bigger than Reed or Sue. Both had successful solo and team up books separate from the group. Johnny having a separate license at one time isn't really that odd. Marvel wrote up some truly bizarre television contracts back in the day. Daredevil and Black Widow nearly had a show, Moon Knight was shopped to Japan (few seem to know about that one, though it never got off the ground), and technically the crazy Japanese Spider-Man show received a movie over two decades before the Raimi film (which nobody ever credits as the first Spidey film, for some reason). Marvel film and television contracts were always weird, basically.

Again... its COMPLETELY different rules for different characters... its a case by case situation..

Im talking about comics and how to adapt them.. you can make a blade cartoon with him simply just killing vampires which is formidable for children to watch... you cant do the same with punisher...

This convo is pointless because you clearly haven't understood a thng.

Im out of it, and over it

This convo definitely is pointless, but not for the reasons you might think.
You said my logic could argue for a family friendly punisher movie working, a pg punisher movie you will. I stand by that, you clearly are knee deep in what his source material is 'supposed' to be that you can't see anything of the sort. I mention blade, you say 'oh but vampires'. I mention punisher in the cartoons or wolverine...not sure what you said that but, this is where we part ways I suppose.

You also put your foot in your mouth with that bit about guns in family movies. I mean seriously. I did mention pirates and guardians right? Well if I didn't, make sure to add it to my long list. You're better off if you don't makes those kinda generalizations is my point.

... by family movies... i was actually thinking PG and G rated... i dont really think of PG-13 ... you can get away with much more in PG 13

As for pirates, yes those are pg. But the lasers comment was actually a joke on cartoons, that famously do not allow for guns and opt for lasers instead

Regardless... you cant make a punisher film where he doesnt kill anyone. Itd be stupid and pointless... like making this film dark and gritty is

The whole discussion isnt "if you can or cant" but about "if you should" ir "can you without changing nearly everything about the character"

And thats all a major no

Just jumping in

I dont think making a dark/gritty Fantastic Four is equal to make a Punisher movie where he doesnt kill.

I think Punisher is way more defined by his willingness to kill then Fantastic Four is to not being dark/gritty

Any way, the trailer showed again in a movie I saw. Still no reaction from the crowd.

It's a funny thing....you come to a thread to read about THE FANTASTIC FOUR.....and all you see is THE PUNISHER and BLADE talk.....what a wacky world we live in.

To be fair.. it was very valid comparison. Which is what the topic was discussing. We werent really talking about specific franchises but how this film is grounded and gritty and what is compared to that.

The blade and punisher concept came from the flip side comparison "making the fantastic four grounded and gritty is like making the punisher light and family friendly"

I thought it was very on topic...

I get where you're coming from, but i mean.. people are going to compare things to better understand things. Sorry for confusion

Apologizing for what you were doing in comparing movies, marvel comic book movies no less, and how far they can bend before broken and such...
What has the world come to indeed.

Why can't I scroll on here anymore? I have to hit CTRL + F and then type Quote just to scroll down. Is this a type of ban?
