Of the 100 "Cast Standing Around Looking Serious" photos we've seen, I think this one works best (though the photoshop is still a little distracting). They should have used this one and thrown all the others away.

Ill agree with that. This is probably the most acceptable, and only decent poster thus far

(Though, they're desperately trying to make the black suits appear blue)

So people don't hate it on studio grounds. They hate it for treatment of the characters so the quality of the actual movie itself to those characters is of no consequences.

So if it's a good movie with bad marketing. They hate it.
If it's a bad movie with bad marketing. Good. Cause they hate it.

While I get it to one degree. Organic webbing Peter didn't seem off from the comic book Peter I read. Or at least not because of the organic webbing.
Isn't that what I just said?
What about Thing sauce?

It does lead ones thoughts along a non-breakfasterly path.
Whoever did the marketing for this "thing" needs to be fired.

"Thing Sauce"

The jokes are so easy its embarrassing.

Instead we get that Thing sauce covering a nice thick piece of meat between two buns.

Yep, that's much better.

I actually wasn't even talking about in relation to the movie. I was genuinely curious since I don't go to Dennys.

I know a lot of people go to Coral. That's why it's bottom barrel.

Do you understand what "Bottom barrel" means? Bottom of the barrel refers to the crumbs, the dregs, the last pieces that people don't want. So if you don't go to Denny's but know "a lot of people" go to Golden Corral....which one do you think is considered by most people to be a "bottom of the barrel" place.

Seriously, do they only have like two pictures of Kate Mara for promo?

I know exactly what it means. You won't see Chipotle in all the same places you see Taco Bells.

Everyone goes there is why it's bottom barrel. They are everywhere. The clientele you see there depends largely on where you are.

I don't go to Denny's and they aren't everywhere which is why I asked the question. Do you understand now?

If you don't understand why "Invisible Woman Slam" or "Thing Sauce" is funny, there's probably no explaining it.

He understands, of course he does. He's just being deliberately obtuse because he's a fan of what he's seen of this movie so far.

Seriously, do they only have like two pictures of Kate Mara for promo?

Yep. And then they cycle between the same three or so shots of Teller and Jordan.

Such ****e, ****e marketing and promo material.

Isn't that what I just said?

Yeah I was saying it back to show I understood and that its silly to me.

I don't see any reason Hank Pym needs to be an old man and Janet MIA instead of Avengers and Giant man. Still let Lang be Antman and get his help to steal the suit. Don't need some made up Hope character.

I can wait and see how the story unfolds on its own merits.

It seems like you're looking at actual quality of the establishment, but I think in a case like this, Taco Bell would be preferable to Chipotle. Taco Bell would be a bigger contract with more exposure.

In the case of Denny's (since you're not familiar with them), they've got generally lousy food but at reasonable prices. But the food is so bad that they're losing a lot of restaurants and there are very few left. So it's a low quality and also low volume establishment. I can't speak for others, but that's what makes this particular choice "bottom barrel" to me.

Oh, and on a somewhat related note, once again, I went shopping this morning, picked up two 12 packs of Cherry Crush but there was no sign of FF on any of the Crush 12 packs or 2 liter bottles.:cmad: There was some sort of sell-by date of Feb 2016, so I'm guessing these might have been packaged in Feb 2015. I have a feeling that by the time they're in the stores the film will have come and gone. I actually thought I had a good chance of scoring free tickets since I buy a good amount of Cherry Crush.

Because it is once again, a choice of a second tier, some would even say third tier choice for a tie in.

It is ridiculous that FOX, could not find better tie ins for a movie that SHOULD BE the BIGGEST MOVIE OF THE SUMMER FOR THEM.

It certainly is not being treated as if it is...

HOPEFULLY, MBJ's episode of http://www.nbc.com/running-wild-with-bear-grylls will be BEFORE the movie comes out, and can be some really positive advertising for the movie.

Preach!

I dont like the photo but at least Reed is stretching in this promotional picture....

I don't think that's a picture of him stretching. I mean yes the picture looks STRETCHED in a very bad amateur photoshop-artist way. But if that's meant to be a power showdown, wow.

Slamtfourstick? o_____o

Honestly though, ridiculing bad tie-ins is one thing, but indicating they somehow show the movies quality is just dumb. When that terrible Quicksilver hamburger add came out, some people were saying that DOFP would officially suck and all that sort of stuff. Yikes.

Purely anecdotal, but my local theater actually removed their Fant4stic poster. They had stuff for over half a dozen upcoming releases, including Fox films releasing after Fant4stic. They'll probably still get it, but who knows? If small town theaters pass on the film (nearest theater besides small local ones can be over an hour away for rural Americans) it will hurt the film. That happened to Pacific Rim. It didn't get quite as wide a release as a big budget film typically gets (my local place didn't pick it up), and it wasn't really a big hit.

I guess. The reason asked was Shoneys used to be the go to movie tie-in resturant but that was 20 years ago when McD was still doing tie-ins. That why I didn't know if there was any difference between Dennys or any other. The whole business model seems to have shrunk.

Nah. Taco Bell is trying to re-brand to compete with Chipotle so it would be the better option.

it's like those who hated on film form begining.
That's because we didn't like what has been revealed from the beginning. Why are people still using this logic as if it'll change anything? Guilt???

Yeah well if Fox doesn't have any guilt about how things are going then why should those who don't support it?

Fox is very limited how they can promate film. First off they complain fox isn't doing anything then when fox tries to promate film with their arm tied they still complain.
LIES!

Pre-MCU and Disney aquisition Fox's Marvel films has a golden ticket to do just about whatever they wanted. Yet they still weren't doing Spiderman numbers. Why? because most of the Fox-marvel films from 2000 - 2009 sucked!

Fastforward to 2014 and Fox didn't seem to be struggling with DOFP's marketing so why resort to making excuses for Fox now?

Its funny how people flip things around to make it sound like people are simply giving Fox a raw deal. But if that's the role you wanna play then I guess Fox should've read the fine print as well. LOL!

I hate it for both reasons. There's no shame in expressing that I want Doom vs the Avengers, Hulk vs Thing and Annihilus vs GOTG/Silver Surfer/Nova Corps on the big screen. There's nothing this mockery of Marvel film can do to compete if the MCU encountered that type of potential.

"But what if it's a good film?"

By whose decree? And how does this somehow govern over my time and money?

People expecting a comic book Fantastic Four will hate the film no matter what. It is being called as "a contemporary re-imagining" so it won't be loyal to the comics.

So there's that.
