When the film does well in Uzbekistan or something they'll claim victory.

Having to officially annouce ( via a dishonest statement) that FFINO has become the first movie to cancel 3D, has to be as Sting once sang--" a humiliating kick in the crotch." for all involved.
But hey, for Ben Grimm, well, he's already been humiliated and a kick in the crotch wouldn't affect him since his privates are missing.

El-P scored the end credits for Fantastic Four, which was first broke by Joshua Trank himself on twitter. In their little twitter conversation El-P goes on to say and I quote "also: I saw the new fan 4 like 5 months ago and it's ****ing good. funny watching people be freaked out about it knowing this". He continued "put it to you this way: the new fan 4 makes the last fan 4 look like the fan 4 your little sister imagined when she was 4.". I don't know his music personally but maybe someone can enlighten to the merit of his work. Here is a link so you can see the exchange yourself. http://pitchfork.com/news/60338-el-p-scored-the-end-credits-for-the-new-fantastic-four-movie/

He said the movie he worked on was good?

I'm shocked.

Also, who is El-P?

EDIT: I now know who El-P is, and I wish I didn't.

So wait...he says he saw the movie 5 months ago, around February, or enough of it to call it "****ing good." So...what was FOX waiting for in releasing more stuff, if they were showing it to 40 year old white rappers in February?

First trailer was released late January. And after that it was a drought of anything at all.

Huh.

Wow.

Just because we're on a superhero message board doesn't mean there aren't people out there who know nothing about these characters outside of what they see on a theatre screen, and don't even play attention to logos

I've said this before here, but when I saw Kingsman: The Secret Service and the Fantastic Four trailer aired... someone was surprised that Fantastic Four is Marvel... And I thought that was already a given especially with the past two films. So yes clearly, not all people are aware if a superhero based from Marvel or DC or Vertigo or Image.

The most memerizing thing about this thread is the capacity of the boosters to crawl back to their feet from any blow!
No matter what the news, the scandal, the evidence--they manage, like a cliched boxer from a movie, to get back on their feet, answer the bell and start throwing some wild haymakers!
This 3D cancellation and the obvious nonsense spouted by Kinberg back in thr day and Trank just now---will be be spun as positive.
So much effort has been put into defending this thing, well, surrender is unthinkable.

Sometimes I think a couple of people gets checks from Fox.

Just a little bit of context with this whole 3D cancellation thing:

http://moviepilot.com/posts/2014/05/09/simon-kinberg-talks-fantastic-4-sequels-3d-conversion-1412267?lt_source=external,manual

Kinberg is so full of crap! :funny:

And so is Trank!

Somebody's clearly talking out their you-know-what here.

Maybe Fox will have these web sites with these earlier interviews pulled from the web like they had the Tim Story abominations pulled off of iTunes and Amazon. Maybe they can send Hugh Jackman back in time to stop Kinberg from ever giving this interview. Or they could just send their signature strongly worded legal notices asking these articles to be taken down. I'm sure whatever they wasted on the attempted 3D conversion pales in comparison to their attorney fees. That's where the budget went!

Seriously though, they must think we have the memory of goldfish.

"Prepare for the Fantastic!" Again!

You're "just gonna see it anyway"!

LOL

The funny thing is that idea that Trank has the power to stop Fox from doing a 3D conversion to protect his 'Vision'. Directors with the clout to do that are guys like Spielberg, Nolan and Cameron, Trank is nowhere near being on that list of Directors. If the 3D conversion was cancelled it was because Fox wanted it cancelled, what Trank wanted really didn't matter to them.

Um, I could be mistaken but er uh...did I just see some marketing for this upcoming film using the tag line "Prepare For The Fantastic?"

Haven't we already been prepped?

Way to break the mold.

Wow.... those movies didn't age well at all.

So Star Wars brought down the house yesterday with no trailer, and BvsS and FF have their turns tonight.

The capacity for people involved with this project to flat out lie is really annoying.:cmad:

Even if an amazing film somehow comes out of this mess, I'm still not going to have any respect for them.

“We’re definitely imagining the story in 3D as we’re making it, and it has powers that are well-suited to telling the story in 3D—not just Reed, but you have somebody that is on fire, and that’s something that can be immersive and scary. The reason to use 3D in this Fantastic Four, I think, is to make the experience feel as immersive as possible, where you feel like you’re with the characters looking at themselves and looking at each other with these bizarre powers and feeling like they’re really interacting with you.”

It's just a further illustration of their contempt for us that they think we're dumb enough not to see through their blatant lies.

There were just a coupe days of reshoots. Everything went really smoothly on set. Trank left Star Wars voluntarily and they cancelled 3D because that was Trank's artistic preference.

Just keep repeating the above and maybe it will become true.:whatever:

Yeah revisionist statements and pretending that things are the way they were always intended to be (and trending that any contradictory evidence doesn't exist) are what really put me off George Lucas. If people just came out and said "Sometimes plans change" I would have a lot more respect for them.

Exactly. You don't have to say: "Wow, this was the worst nightmare imaginable." But at least something close enough to the truth to not insult our intelligence wouldn't be so offensive.

"When we put the rough cut together, we saw a lot of things that didn't really work so we're rebuilding sets and bringing people back in to do everything we can to make this film as good as it can be."

"Josh never really worked on a film of this scale before, so he ran into some difficulties managing everything that had to happen on a film like this so we re-structured responsibilities and had some people fill in to help."

"Because I learned on Fantastic Four that my talents didn't really fit a big film based on an established property, Disney and I both decided it would be best if I didn't continue on an even bigger even more established property."

"Because we incurred a lot of unexpected costs and schedule over-runs associated with the reshoots, we didn't have the time or money left to do the 3D conversion we had initially intended."

How hard is that?

I'd rather have something close to the truth (even if it may indicate some problems) than lies that are SO obvious it makes you wonder how bad things really were that their only option was outrageous, inplausible lying.

I mentioned this a couple of days ago (in the box office thread, I think), but Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is probably the most recent film to release that would have had a comparable licensing deal to Fantastic Four (X-Men is known to have been a terrible negotiation from Avi Arad, giving Fox a sweetheart deal, and the Spider-Man rights were renegotiated a few years back). As you (should) all know, the last Ghost Rider was considered a massive flop. What you may not realize, though, is that it made more than twice its budget at the box office. It made a bit less than its production budget domestically, and performed better internationally. I don't put much faith in tracking, but current numbers have Fantastic Four making a bit less than its budget domestically, just like Spirit of Vengeance. This film probably needs exceptional performance overseas to make a profit, and may well need to hit triple its budget to break even.

Sony is in a different financial position than Fox. Also, movie budgets are complicated. The true story is what they do afterwards. Amazing Spider-man 2 and Spirit of Vengeance heavily implies they did not make money, or barely made a profit. I also highly doubt Fox ever had high hopes for this movie.

Probably because I care more about the final product than the behind the scenes drama.

Hate to bring up Ant-Man on the FF message boards, but let's compare Marvel's handling of THEIR troubled production to FOX's work on FFINO. Everyone at Marvel - Feige, Reed, Rudd, Lilly, Douglas - have been completely honest about the impact Wright's departure had on their production. At times, brutally so.

Compare that to Kinberg, Trank and the cast, who have taken the "Nothing to See Here!" approach. They've denied, deflected and flat out lied rather than treat their potential customers like adults. A sprinkle of honesty could have helped dig FFINO out of the hole they dug for it. We'll see tonight if the dishonesty continues.

So Star Wars brought down the house yesterday with no trailer, and BvsS and FF have their turns tonight.

So this film has to go against Apocalypse, the sequel of what is considered the best X-Men film, Deadpool, a highly anticipated movie, and BvS, plus potentially the first on screen Justice League?

Well, well, well, I'd hate to be the crew on this film right now.

Im a big fan of Run the Jewels so I'm interested to hear that he had any involvement with the scoring of the movie, much less that it was "f-ing good" in his eyes. Doesn't surprise me really.

The only thing they've said was that "there were some bumps in the road", and that was after the news broke about Trank losing his Star Wars gig and they had their backs against the wall.
Like you said, some honesty would have gone a long way early on. Anyone else remember Kinberg lying about the "3-4" days of reshoots?

This is absolute gold, thanks for posting.

Been saying this for months, I'm amazed at how hard some people are insisting that the detractors are wrong and everything is peaches n' cream.

Thats because they know that it is all really just a massive conspiracy by Disney to make the film look bad. :para:

If it is a conspiracy, then it's an undeniably successful one.
Funny thing is that Fox went ahead and took care of that for Disney, they've made it sound pretty awful without help from anyone.

Time for the official GIF of the Fantastic Four thread. Can we make this a sticky? :funny:

Yeah me too. Sometimes I think a couple of you get cheques from Disney.

Jeez, pathetic to see some here bashing the supporters just because they have hope the final product could be entertaining.

Why, because we like our superhero movies to look and feel like the characters we grew up loving? Disney doesn't cut me a check, but they do fulfill that criteria. So it seems self-evident why people are against this low-budget rights grab.
If you are looking forward to it, great. I am sincerely jealous of you, I wish there was a FF movie on the horizon that I was excited about. But let's not pretend that what we are saying does not have merit.
