Yeah, that lack of faith seems pretty much across the board. If this thing is a hit, I think the people who will be most surprised are the ones who made it. :funny:

Most likely IF this movie is a hit, some people will claim critics don't know what they're talking about. And despite the high (possible) critic rating, they got it wrong.

I kind of dread what this forum will look like once the films released. It's going to be just a bunch of "I told you so" from both sides.

Pretty nice.

Like minded FF fans saw a cheap rights-grab bearing no resemblance to the classic source material being put into production and called out those responsible. It's really not that fascinating.

C'mon there have been plenty of creative freedoms in every comic book movie when it comes to origins or even the core of the character and that happened in the two other superhero movies that came this year. Where's Fantastic Four's director Josh Trank always cited Ultimate Marvel as his source material, just recently again in Fatman on Batman podcast part 2. :b

I feel this whole "classic source material" is just more brand marketing than anything. You could nitpick any cape movie to death about the changes they make. :csad:

Anyone remember Kinbergs cryptic leaked email to Amy Pascal hinting that he told various studio executives "the truth about Josh Trank"? Yeah, context clues people. The picture becomes very clear when you look at it knowing what all has come before.

i do indeed....

I'm still baffled people are even arguing about the production of this film and lack of enthusiasm from the cast... I get people want the film to be good and are excited by it... but to completely defend relentlessly cold hard facts.. and ignore so much when signs completely point to it.. is just baffling to me.

you can want a film to be good, and still be excited for it and still admit the studio doesn't have faith in it.. and accept the fact that the production was troubled. The film could still be enjoyable for said person regardless...

So I just came in here to post that FF Empire poster..

I don't dread it, I'm kind of looking forward to it.:woot:

How far will people go? If it gets a 40RT score, will people be arguing that's not so bad? If it gets a 75, will people be calling it a failure? Chances are we'll fall between those extremes and then everybody will be claiming victory, but it will be interesting if we fall on one extreme or the other.

C'mon - we're closing in on opening weekend. Are we still clinging to the belief that FFINO is no different than every other comic book movie? Even though none of the other DC or Marvel adaptations label themselves a "contemporary reimagining".

Kinberg and Trank have told us time and again they knew longtime fans would be upset with the many, many changes to the FF. But they figured we'd go see it anyway.

FFINO has been rife with lies and half truths emanating from those responsible for this cheap rights grab. But this time, I believe Kinberg and Trank.

Ah ... I've been waiting for the inevitable "They'll fix it in the sequel" statement. When will people acknowledge Fox doesn't know what they're doing with this property? How many failures are needed? Just curious.

Um......4, yeah definitely 4 LMAO!

Considering the movie seems to have a big action scene climax, it does at least end like any other comic book movie. :oldrazz:

Marvel and DC haven't restarted any of their franchises, hence they don't need to say that when they make Guardians of the Galaxy or Wonder Woman, but maybe one day when we get our 3rd Iron Man actor or 28th Batman actor? Who knows. I don't see the harm in the term, they want people to forget about the previous ones.

Batman and Superman both say Hi! and spidey is about to

Yeah, what the heck? We are on our third different iteration of Batman, second or third of Superman, and about to get our third Spider-Man. DC is also about to start over with the Green Lantern franchise. :funny:

But wasn't the context of that conversation pretty much that he and the studio supported Josh Trank all the way and stood behind him?

Riiiiight.... The same way Don King stood behind Mike Tyson during that rape case. Great point!

Wow, what blatantly inaccurate nonsense I've come home to. First we get doubters not believing a direct quote from Kinberg, than I see that Marvel and DC haven't restarted their franchises. There's a giant Batman shaped gorilla in the room on that particular one...

Hell, Supes, Hulk (TIH was a co-production that involved Uni, who did Hulk), so many gorillas we're ignoring...

So I guess Batman and Superman don't exist.

Even the Nolan Batfilms, with all their deviations to fit a realistic and grounded world, stayed accurate to the comics. And when they couldn't, they incorporated as much from the source as they could in their original work.

I'm continually astonished at how willing people are to pay good honest money for substandard product. :huh:Why settle for 2nd rate entertainment? It's like they just don't care.

Man of Steel is an entry point to Superman and we aren't getting a new Batman standalone movie until 2018-19 I believe? Granted yes, they are marketing Ben Affleck's Batman as angrier and older, more pissed, but we did get an older Batman already with TDK Rises.

I believe this holds the same with this Fantastic Four. I've seen very clear references to Ultimate Marvel constantly from trailer shots to them talking about the characters.

I don't know about you, but I don't spend money to see films that don't look good.

If the reviews are very good, I'll give it a try, but the trailers and everything else I've seen and read haven't sold me. I decide to go to a movie or not based primarily on the trailers and reviews. If the trailers look bad (as these do), I generally don't go unless the reviews convince me there's something to the film that I missed in the trailer. I'm treating this film like any film. The trailers didn't do it for me, so now it has to get not just good but great reviews.

Why should I buy a product that doesn't look like something I want?

Good points. If a 2 minute and 30 second trailer doesn't capture my attention I won't be spending my hard earned money on a film I almost certainly will not like.

It's all subjective. I wish I would have known that some of the movies I've seen this summer were 2nd rate. I won't know how good this movie is until I see it.

I think its rooted in impatience.

Those who would complain and refuse to settle lackluster attempts adapting the comics have a level of patience that those who would gladly accept it don't.

They want it now. Those of us who refuse to accept it are content with waiting.

You realize both Batman and Superman had been restarted by the studio previously right?
