Trank's team are trying to spin this like he was an innocent victim, if he were an innocent victim then why on earth would Disney fire him from the Star Wars gig?

And I'm not going to dignify that "we don't have any proof that he was fired" silliness with a response. Dude was fired obviously, nobody quit Star Wars.
The defenses of him are already getting ridiculous.

I don't think he has an ego per say. I didn't like the "They'll see it anyway" thing but I haven't seen or heard anything about his other behavior. I just think he didn't respect the Fantastic Four.

And his career ill be fine. He's "the new black" Hollywood is pushing him a good amount. Kinda wish Anthony Mackie got this kind of push.

He could be in trouble if Creed bombs too.

I feel like making a Twiiter account and tweet him that gif. If this film underperforms this weekend.

If? It's already a bomb right out of the gate.

You know we're talking about a completely unrelated movie that is months away from release right?

Oh MBJ :oldrazz:

It's a Rocky movie, Stallone makes those for dirt cheap.

Even if Creed flops I still think MBJ will be fine. I do think he should've done another indie or drama before moving into franchise fare like Fantastic Four or Creed.

So, we should just side on Fox's side and lay all the blame on Trank?

It's cool to say where there's smoke, there's fire, so if you're going to take all that has been said about Trank on good faith, then let's do the same with everything we've been hearing the past few days about how Fox f**** Trank.

Everyone is responsible to a certain degree. I know that some people here don't seem to like reading but 20th Century Fox has done this crap before, HELLO? Anyone remember Alien 3, The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Kingdom Of Heaven, The Last Stand, X-Men Origins? (with a similar situation with a young, inexperienced director), First Class also had troubles but Vaughn had experience, game with several movies under his belt.

A guy like Tom Rothman has the reputation he has had at Fox for years for a reason (even though he's not involved here directly).

@I SEE SPIDEY: Who the hell is Trank's "team?" exactly? Who? What I see here is a lot of people on this forum putting their blinders on with only one narrative in mind, ie "Trank is wrong, he fuc*** up, he's an evil dude, bring out the pitch forks PEOPLEEEEEE" when it's very clear, even if you choose to ignore it, that Fox screwed it up and Trank just happens to be the recipient and as a (supposedly) unstable, young, green, blissfully ignorant director, he melted down.

For Star Wars, who's to say that Fox didn't simply play the blame game and burned him? Who's to say that Kinberg doesn't also have a big hand in this and made sure he wouldn't get the SW gig, because Kinberg or Fox HAS to be right and Trank HAS to be wrong?

Seriously, if you find fault with any of this, you need to take a look at the situation OBJECTIVELY and not just choose one side or the other. EVERYONE is responsible here, and those who blame it all on Trank sure as hell read like fanboys and not people who know what it actually IS to make movies.

Also, about Creed, it will never bomb, Rocky movies do very well at the box office, they were smart enough to bring him into the trailer, and that alone guarantees asses in seats, that + the budget will probably be low, this ain't a 60 million movie or whatever.

I don't expect it to, but you never know. Maybe it ends up being another Rocky V.

It helps that 1) MBJ can really act 2) his character isn't on AARP

The trailer so far has received a great reception and I don't see it making less than Southpaw (and that had mediocre reviews) unless the film is an actual disaster.

So many people are worrying about the cast. They'll be more than fine. This wasn't a make or break film for any of them

One of the things that hurts me the most about this movie is that I would have loved to have seen Michael B. Jordan play Johnny Storm in the MCU, and now that will never happen.

Who's to say MCU won't find a way to get FF back and keep the same actors, unless it goes in the TASM direction where no one wants anything to do with it and start anew.

I don't think Marvel wants this garbage to be associated with the MCU, and even a reboot with this cast would make the GA think this is now MCU continuity.

Let's leave alone the bit about how many people feel these actors were miscast, do you really think Marvel would want their film connected to this panned bomb in anyway?

There is absolutely no reason for them to keep the same actors, especially considering the negative reaction to this. The whole point of a reboot is to make it as less associated with previous incarnations as possible to give you the freedom to do what you want and to hopefully not have any previous connotations affect the new project.

The reviews and box office say they won't. Marvel will need to distance themselves from this atrocity, and that includes the actors (even if they themselves aren't the problem with the film).

Disney isn't exactly friends with Fox. Why would they simply "believe" them?

Fox is no good in my book, but they had a reason here. The Trank information didn't come out to cover their backside. It is old info that continually leaked over time. Trank himself has been acting erratic online. You think Fox wanted to spend an extra $40m to try and save this?

And the big kicker, Trank didn't say this wasn't his vision at Comic-Con or anywhere else. It wasn't until the reviews hit and his career was damaged horribly that he started covering his ass.

There's a whole unknown period of MCU goodness from Agent Carter to the Ant-Man flashback that hasn't been explored yet. IF Marvel Studios gets to play with the Fantastic Four, they should set them in the 60's, make it from that period to distance themselves from all the previous movies, and it doesn't collide with what has been established. And if they want to use them in the current timeline, they can always introduce some kind of time travel, and with Reed Richards that can easily happen.

It is exactly what they did with TASM.

About to watch the film. Wish me luck.
