Fant4stic Fantastic Four Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 5

Agreed but I remember people saying that Fox was making this with a budget of $120M max and factor in marketing to make it around $150M. That extra $25M is huge!

I'd say the property is only worth about 40-50 million right now.

F4 might but Silver Surfer is a whole nother franchise in itself. I don't understand why Marvel would allow it to be included in the F4 package but yet BP isn't.

Personally I think the marketing cost has been under projected. I think 75 million worldwide at least.

FOX must have specified the inclusion of SS/Galactus and Marvel just Ok'ed it. They didn't put much thought in those deals with their back against the wall.

Freakin Avi Arad!! :argh: Dude just didn't give a darn did he? He almost took Sony belly up as well.

So it made $94 PER SCREEN on Thursday!
If they show it four times a day that's $24 per showing !!!
I should walk into a theater and say, "Sir, I'd like to buy out your 7:30 Pm showing and here is a crisp $50 bill."
Manager---"Are you crazy?"
Me----"The 7:30 Fantastic Four showing."
Manager--"Yes sir! and what size popcorn & soda would you like?"

If Marvel signs off on the X-Men tie in show, FOX should earn close to $40 million in first year streaming fees alone. I would say a deal is a sure thing, but the people on one side of the negotiating table gave the green light to FFINO.

I've been saying that since the news broke about Fox wanting to do an X-Men show. It's not just about ratings and ad revenue. If you get a show that performs decently in the ratings but is well received by critics and fans alike, the streaming rights will bring in big money. If I were Marvel, the only way I would give up the X-Men TV rights is to ask Fox to trade the Fantastic Four (which comes with the core characters plus all the supporting characters) even though I don't think Marvel would do anything with the IP for at least 3 years.

The only question I have is this: Which Fox will be at the negotiating table? Will it be the studio that wants to expand their very successful X-Men film franchise further or the studio that hates Marvel, and Disney, over the loss of Star Wars that they'll refuse to make any deal?

Perhaps the studio that's put out more terribly reviewed films this year than positively reviewed films and had multiple flops should consider unloading Fantastic Four for some easy streaming revenue on the X-franchise...

Exactly.

According to Boxofficemojo, down -906 to 1,675 (35.1%) theaters this weekend.

Ant-Man? Down to 1,690 (16.2%) theaters this weekend.

As of Thursday, it only had a little over 2100 screens. Some of these numbers aren't adding up. I suppose they just figure it from week to week and include the lost screens during the week??

Like I was saying, if Fox wanted to give me the blu ray, I could fit everybody comfortably in my Home Theater and, if I get the $50, bring them beer and pizza.

Next showing at 1:30 :cwink:

Boom.

Haven't posted here in a minute but just happen to look at proboxoffice.com and the the production budget is said to be $175M! :wow: Maybe it's old news to you guys but man and am I shocked because it looks so cheap.

Eh, I wouldn't believe it. BoxOffice.com basically invents numbers, based on a bunch of assumption that, IMO, are deceptive and inaccurate. I think they once said the budget for the first Avengers movie approached 400M, which is laughable.

When fans of the F4 who did not like the direction Fant4stic was going, they were often dismissed as simply a small fraction of the viewing audience and not a real concern. A goofball on IMDB referee to said group as simply "In the end, they are the mouse that roared".

The end results of how Fant4stic bombed so undisbutedly can't help but taste so sweet to those fans who felt dismissed so casually.

As a fan of the F4, I myself can't help but feel justified this tanked.

Yeah, for a little while certain people kept claiming we (the actual Fantastic Four fans) were all Disney employees over on the X-boards (shocker, I know). I used a smartalec sig about being Walt's frozen head for awhile after that. Worst of all? One of those people (won't name them, figure it out yourself, it's super easy) said at one point that they wish they worked for Fox, this person constantly hyped up Fox films that weren't even Marvel related, and said Fox should plant people in their Comic-Con audience.

The "positive" crew that blindly supports this film has been insufferable. It's been wonderful watching this whole thing explode in the faces of Fox, Trank, and the blind loyalists.

Im sure I know who you mean. That same person months ago apparently said even if it was bad, they hoped it made enough profit for a sequel.

It's a shame they will be disappointed. ;)

So nearly the entire Hype is made up of Disney employees? And even more people have been employed by Disney since the movie came out who were working somewhere else before? :funny:

Weekend projection from boxoffice.com:

15 Fantastic Four (2015) $1,475,000 -60% 1,675 -906 $881 $52,438,098 4 Fox

It fell out of the top 12 at Box Office Mojo and is too low to be shown on the friday list ! How can we mock it if it's too low to be counted?
Oh wait.....
Maybe if we look hard enough "we'll see it anyway."

The "positive" crew that blindly supports this film has been insufferable.

I've never seen any other film draw as much blind loyalty. One poster in particular, after the picture of trash bag Doom leaked, made the claim that what we saw in that first glimpse was only his "first costume" and that he'd have more looks by the end of the movie. He also told people to not make any judgements until we actually see the film, but in the same breathe he claimed that Domashev would be better than every other MCU villain.
Foxholm syndrome is a real thing.
