Plus a little bit of this

Don't forget this:

With the cucumbers removed.

Doom's eye holes shouldn't look so circular.

Unfair comparison as the original doom from first F4 movie pic looks to be an official pic and the one we have now of the new doom is merely a pic someone took with their phone on the set.

So an official pic of this Doom will change the shape of his hood and the design of this costume? Right. :whatever:

Wow. Miss a little miss a lot.

Yeesh. Not loving it.

Fox needs to release some official pics.

Agreed with others that it looks like Johnny burned his costume.

The fact is that Johnny shouldn't even be able to burn Doom's costume unless he's just wrapped up in wet tobacco leaves or something. If he were wearing armour, then he should be protected. Otherwise Johnny could always have pulled that trick many times in the comic and Doom's armour would have been melted or he would've been defeated that way.

And why is his hood unaffected by Johnny's fire if his costume is burnt? Unless maybe it is affected in that it just puffed up his hood and made it look like a trash bag. Because fire has that effect. :whatever:

It would be funny if the hot air trapped in Doom's hood made him start to float away because...you know...science. :D

So it may be quite comic accurate then.

I'm not a stickler for 'comic accuracy'. A 100% comic accurate version of a Lee/Kirby issue would be a bad film.

Film-makers need to pick and choose elements that work from elements that don't work.

UFF Doom is an element that doesn't work in my opinion and the opinion of most FF and Doom fans. And there are far more Doom fans out there than FF fans. I think that's a key point that Fox seems to be missing.

It isn't just the Doom "costume" that makes those pics depressing. The fact that the whole set is just a greenscreen stage just screams soulless to me.

^ Yeah, I'm more bothered by the indication that there's very little practical sets or location filming. This explains the complete secrecy of the film so far, but it is disappointing.

Unlike others, I don't think it's an unmitigated disaster (although I'm not a fan of Doom's costume), but I will point out that, while lighting might get touched up in post-production, the design almost certainly would not. It makes zero sense to take a practical costume but render it entirely in post-production. The cost of that would be substantially higher (the only exception is Green Lantern, where they wanted the costume to look "projected" by the ring). For those criticizing the design, I think what you see is what you'll get. I don't think there's any logical reason to respond with "oh don't worry, they'll just completely change it in post-production).

Meh... It's not the most offensive thing in the world. He does look suitably creepy.

Perhaps his costume has been burned at this point?

I like the mask. The whole costume though oh dear. That can't possibly be the finished actual suit. Like c'mon no amount of photoshop will make that look any better. It made me laugh though.

Now the response for Green Riding Doom should be the encouragement for Fox to release something official.

Well, let's look at it this way...

At least no one will ever confuse this metallic atrocity with the epic, comic-accurate Dr. Doom that Marvel will create when they inevitably get the rights back after this thing bombs hard at the box office.

James Gunn - "The exterior of the Kyln prison walkway, which leads prisoners into the Kyln itself (a much bigger structure four levels high I was standing on to take this picture). The Kyln set was composed of 350,000 pounds of steel. The only way we could afford to do it was to buy the steel, build the set, and then melt the steel down and sell it back. Amazingly, the Kyln was only our third or fourth biggest set. "

Josh Trank - "We'll fix it in post!"

Right, cause they will have to use this costume only throughout this movie and it's sequels..

I feel SOOO bad for the people that still have hope for this. First it was, "Well, let's at least wait until we see some pics." Now it's, "There's no need to worry. They'll fix everything in post." I REALLY do hope this turns out well for FF fans, but from what I'm seeing, I just can't help but feel terrible for y'all. My fingers are really crossed for the fans. Who knows...maybe they'll nail the personalities/story, and it will make the design choices seem insignificant.

Someone already said it but I agree. It's looking more and more like Trank is the next M. Night Shyamalan.

Well, everyone is reacting to how close it is to the comics. In this case, it isn't, so people just assume it will be bad or bomb. Obviously, they have already taken liberties as far as how good of an adaptation it will be. That doesn't necessarily mean it will be a bad movie.

I've been saying for a while now the more different and/or UFF they make this the better for those of us hoping Marvel get the movie rights back some day. Would Leave the path a lot clearer for them to go more 616 should that day ever come.

So on that note...I love the cheapo 70's Doctor Who disfigured Master crossed with a Harry Potter Death Eater and Thor Dark Elve new Doctor Doom... Lol :cwink:

Yes the downward slide has only just begun. Just wait till Trank screws up Star Wars. At least Shyamalan started with a Best Picture nom.

You don't know how good or how successful this movie will turn out. You only know how much not like the comic it will be, which is always the biggest complaint from the fanbase and a non-issue with the general audience. Even if it does turn out a complete waste of film, he still wouldn't equate with M. Night. Richard Kelly maybe

I'm dreaming of the day after this turd flops colossally, maybe 10 years from now or more, when Marvel finally releases the film titled "Marvel's The Fantastic Four" directed by Brad Bird. I can't wait to buy the accompanying book "The Art of Marvel's Fantastic Four" detailing the process by which they finally brought the likes of Doctor Doom, The Thing and Galactus to life in all their iconic glory.

It MIGHT not be a bad movie, but people are reacting based on previous experiences which is completely understood. Generally when things are THIS different from the source material, the movie is almost always bad as well. It isn't like these reactions are totally unfounded.

That's what I said. I get it. It just doesn't matter. Its a movie, plenty of good ones. If its bad, oh well. If its good, great. I don't want to crap all over it before they even have a chance to prove themselves.

So if the costumes aren't fixed in post and no-one nails the personalities, the trailer is bad and the film has a terrible plot, are the apologists going to still see a bright ray of sunshine for this movie and say that it is still good?

 If the movie is bad, I'll say its bad. That has never been a problem.
