You don't know how good or how successful this movie will turn out. You only know how much not like the comic it will be, which is always the biggest complaint from the fanbase and a non-issue with the general audience

It's pointless to argue over the future because none of us are prophets. But I don't like what I see and I don't like what I hear about anything in this film and my gut says this film is DOA. But you could be right. By some fluke this could become some sleeper hit with the YA hipsters and this new version will become the definitive FF for years to come. And that makes me happy how?

You say fanbase doesn't matter and yet Marvel Studios has become the most successful producer of CBMs because they clearly care about the fans. Apparently the general audience and the fans can like the same things.

So if the costumes aren't fixed in post and no-one nails the personalities, the trailer is bad and the film has a terrible plot, are the apologists going to still see a bright ray of sunshine for this movie and say that it is still good?

Hell, I don't even like the FF honestly. I just know that I'd feel like **** if this was being done to one of my favorite properties.

That's what I said. I get it. It just doesn't matter. Its a movie, plenty of good ones. If its bad, oh well. If its good, great. I don't want to crap all over it before they even have a chance to prove themselves.

haha. Its just a movie. They are all JUST movies. A different creator comes in, think they know what's better. sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong. The comics continue on with their finger safely on the status quo button just in case anything drifts too far. Nothing changes. Ever! I'm sorry, but I'm not scared of a bad movie.

I've always been highly critical of this film's production but up till now I still felt that if it turned out to be what critics and a majority of fans considered a "great film", I would eventually give it a chance - just not in theaters.

That stand has changed. This design for Doom is horrid. Doom's look is iconic. How do you screw that up this badly? I just can't get behind this in any way.

After Chronicle, Trank probably could have made whatever film he wanted. No one's trying to stifle his "vision". But he should have done it with something else. Not take something I've loved my whole life and mangle it beyond recognition and call it "artsy" or "original". You want to do something truly original then create something yourself.

This is just fan fiction. I wanted the real Fantastic Four on the Big Screen. And not only is Fox not giving me that, as long as they hold on to these rights, they are preventing that dream from ever happening.

I like the fantastic four but everything this movie does from casting to the coustumes makes me hate it more and this doom costume was the straw that broke the camels back for me and I understand it will look different in post but that mask is horrid I only hope this movie bombs so marvel can get the rights back.

I honestly don't care if Doom looks better in post, because his design will still be the same. Also, they can't fix the cast in post. Miles Teller will still be Miles Teller, and MBJ will still be playing Johnny. Bell might be covered up, but when human he'll still be scrawny and not like Reed's protector.

The only way the cast might work is if they were all just voice actors and this was an animated movie.

But we're living in the Golden Age of CBMs, and the FF are forced to sit on the sidelines while bottom tier properties like Guardians of the Galaxy become box office smashes. It's just a bitter pill for me to swallow. Maybe I shouldn't care as much about it as I do but I can't help it.

What's wrong with Miles Teller? He's one of the most promising actors working today. He was excellent in Rabbit Hole and The Spectacular Now and his most recent movie won best picture at Sundance.

This is a place where people discuss things. In this case, the Fantastic Four movie that is being filmed.

Does Marvel have to wait that long though? Can't they just take an attitude of "here's how to do the FF properly - the Marvel way"?

If two people have to perform the same song and the first one messes it up badly and makes a pig's ear of it, the 2nd performer who might be much better doesn't need to shy away. In fact, they can go in confident that it will just show up the terrible rendition by the first even more.

Part of what makes this the Golden Age is that Marvel is making their own movies, and because Marvel is doing it by themselves, DC is trying to up their game. The people who deal in brand names who have been dealing with brand names since Blade are obviously gonna act this way. The only thing you can hope for is they entertain. They don't care about you or the books, they have no investment in synergy because it only works one way for them. It's a win-nothing for them, while its a win-win for Marvel. Sometimes it will be FF sometimes it will be Days of Future Past. Plus it doesn't help when you hire Mark Millar to be David Goyer. No matter how bad this film may be or how far from the source they get, hiring Millar was the dumbest thing Fox could have done.

Pretty much this. I thought the Thing bust was pretty lousy too but I could at least understand why some people might think it looked OK. But this? This is garbage. I'm done. Whatever unspoken residual shred of hope I may have nurtured in my heart that this film could still somehow be a decent take on the FF has been snuffed out of existence. I won't even watch this on TV for free.

Before this, I was hoping that the film would either be A) a surprisingly great film or B) a flop so the rights could go back home. For the first time I'm actively hoping it flops. I'm not interested in what Fox is selling. Marvel needs to get these rights back. This is such a joke.
