It's the Kavanaugh hearing all over again.

Indeed.

Also, Whitaker looks like Wilson Fisk’s slightly more corrupt twin.

Only the best. Seriously, what a gong show.

I don't particularly appreciate the comparisons to Fisk. Fisk wouldn't need to resort to this level of running out the clock. He would have calculated responses that would land Dems in hot water.

This guy looks like he missed the point of Vic Mackey.

LOL true.

When I see these types of tweets, I don't feel completely disgusted and ashamed of American leadership anymore.

I just feel "meh sure he'd say that".

It's like normal now...

Keep in mind it is only half the leadership. The other half (under Pelosi) isn't so accomodating to dictators and willing to dehumanize people they don't like.

Average Tax Refunds Down 8.4 Percent As Angry Taxpayers Vent On Twitter | HuffPost

Looks like people’s tax refunds this year are coming in lower than last year. Basically the government withheld less during the year so it looked like their paychecks went up due to the .01% tax cut and it wasn’t just a tax cut for the rich. But now people are starting to realize how screwed over they are.

For a lot of people who live paycheck to paycheck, that refund is the biggest check they get all year and they use that money to buy big ticket items. This could have a potential negative impact to the economy if the first week of returns are a trend.

Not looking forward to doing mine this year. Normally we net out even but due to no longer being able to deduct certain expenses, we will probably owe a few grand. Thanks Cheetoh.

My refund is usually $1200 and was $660 this year.

Chickens coming home to roost for a lot of trumpers.... will be interesting to see what happens next

I wish I could say something positive, but nothing. Trump, just like with every other not of bad economic news will simply not mention it. Republicans will twist it that democrats didn't let them do enough to taxes. Trump supporters will likely go with that narrative.

It's funny. When they first pushed this tax plan, I thought the impact was coming, but it wouldn't be felt until after the next election. A democrat gets in, then the impact is felt, and he/she receives the blame. Seems I was wrong, the impact is felt year one, and looking to get worse.

Side note, but I was thinking about how unsustainable our current path is. The wealth gap, compounded by the tariff problem, wealth tax break, but higher middle class and poor burden, cutting social safety nets, ect.

I'm 35. When I was in high school I worked at a Burger King. Minimum wage at the time was $5.25 an hour, and co workers were working multiple jobs to stay afloat. It's been close to 20 years, and minimum wage has only increased by $2.25. Meanwhile the cost of living has raised on every level. Gas, rent, even canned goods went from about $.50 to $1.

Luckily I'm no longer on minimum wage, but plenty still are. We can't even get a bill to the table to increase it to $10-13 an hour. Which it should already have been, and by now we should be talking about another increase to $16 or so. Instead our focus is on luxury jet tax breaks.

I guess the bright side is that you still got a refund and didn’t owe. I’m scared if we owe because we already have a lot of expenses this year more than normal.

I’m sure Cheetoh will say it’s time people pay their fair share even though we won’t know for sure if he’s paying his (spoiler: he isn’t).

My average is $800-$1,200... and this year I owe $400.

What the ****. While racists with hand me down company *******s are making money on their 3rd jet and 5th mansion.

Oof. I’m sorry. I really think this is going to hurt the economy.

Only us unwashed masses, not the 1%.

Lower taxes (for the rich). Sucks to be you (or me, or anyone else not in the 1%).

North Korea trying to keep its nuclear missiles safe from US strikes, says UN report

North Korea trying to keep its nuclear missiles safe from US strikes, says UN report

In the confidential report, recently submitted to UN security council members, sanctions monitors said they had “found evidence of a consistent trend on the part of [North Korea] to disperse its assembly, storage and testing locations”.

It said the North was “using civilian facilities, including airports, for ballistic missile assembly and testing with the goal of effectively preventing ‘decapitation’ strikes’ on a smaller number of identified nuclear and missile assembly and manufacturing sites”.

But, they're besties! How can Kim Jong Un lie to his BFF Trump like that?

I mean, I guess it could be that Trump knows NK isn't going to denuclearize, and is purposefully lying to us, again. Also ignoring his own intelligence agencies, again. While simultaneously having the US praise, and legitimize a murderous dictator. All to save face after months of bluster about fire, fury, and rocket men.

Nah, couldn't be that. Trump wouldn't sell us all out for personal gain....

Yup, the Treasury did some ****ery with withholdings.

I'm sure I'll also get **** in my tax return, but I cant help but feel schadenfreude. Trumpeteers thought they were getting extra money and a tax cut. Nope, it was just money that they would have normally gotten in their tax return. They gained nothing from the tax cut. As usual Trump and his "plans" are nothing but con jobs.
