He talked all through the election about a trade war with China and they voted for him anyway.

Now we have to foot the bill to bail them out?

Basically yes. The party of personal responsibility wants socialism to save its voters.

How long are we gonna have to still listen to people saying Trump supports veterans when he freely casts aspersions on any of them who criticize him and when he can’t be bothered to visit the cemeteries on Veterans Day?

I see Trump couldn't even get the name correct for his visit to the disaster zone post fires. Seriously, the man is truly good for nothing.

Disgusting. Why should the American taxpayers pay farmers to compensate for Trump’s trade war?

Because the farmers now need it. I'm a farmer and I certainly didn't vote for Trump and his trade war is hurting us. Some farmers could literally lose their farms because of this. It's a year by year profession. You need the money from crop sales one year to pay for the seed for the next season. I can't explain to you why a large percent of the American farmer voted for Trump other than farmers generally lean Republican. My family didn't cast a single vote for Trump but a lot of my community did. And even though he is personally responsible for their crop prices being down, they would all vote for him again tomorrow. Unfortunately we need the bailout. Even though it doesn't scratch the surface of the money lost due to the trade war. There are certainly a lot of things the American tax dollar is wasted on but I don't think helping struggling farmers is one of them.

I do feel bad for the farmers, because end of the day, they are part of the economic ecosystem. But it's hard to feel sympathy for for farmers who vote for the cause of their own ills.

Unfortunately those farmers who voted for Trump are the reason they and those who did not are now in this situation. They elected Trump to run the country, which he is doing, straight into the ground.

Yes but when you say "it's their own fault let them fail." That's sounds eerily like some on the right wanting California to burn because they voted democrat. Look I HATE Trump, but I'm not going to root for anyone to lose their livelihood just because they were dumb enough to vote for him

Show me where I actually wrote "let them fail." I said they shouldn't have been bailed out. His whole campaign was about how China is ripping us off and how there is a huge trade deficit. What did they think he would do?

I also said it's hard to have sympathy for them. I'm not rooting for anyone to lose t heir livelihood. But votes have consequences. How is it fair to the people who actually voted against him but are still suffering? How come they don't get a bailout?

I'm not saying anything about fair or unfair. I'm saying people could lose their farms and if a bailout stops that from happening, then absolutely there should be a bailout. And I didn't say you in particular were rooting against farmers but when you say "votes have consequences" that sure seems like the attitude you're adopting. Look we are on the same side here, but as a farmer I am a lot closer to this situation. I live in a farming community as well. I see that a good portion of the people around me are Trump supporters. Personally I think that is an incredibly foolish thing to be but I just don't want anyone to have to suffer. That is the route Trump has chosen to take unfortunately and I hope too some of the folks in my area wake up and see that he does not have our best interests in mind. Unfortunately they all seem to be fully indoctrinated into the Trump cult, and that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon

Thanks for telling us the farmers POV. Unfortunately, I still read that people who voted for Trump and have suffered under his trade war continue to support him, and this bailout will likely make them forget about the consequences of voting for Trump.

Trump doesn’t know that Osama bin Laden was from Saudi Arabia?

I understand where you're coming from. Ultimately I understand what needs to be done, it's just unfortunate that people will continue to support a man who has no principles beyond his own narcissistic beliefs.

And who isn't a non-political figure these days? And even if you are, you're not allowed to criticize the opposing party on facts?

And here's the passage Cheetoh is saying he wrote in his book where he called out OBL. Hardly evidence he understood how dangerous OBL was.

Well I suppose not knowing where he was could count as having no fixed address. :p
