Usually superhero costumes going from their first films to their sequels receive at least some minor modifications that either enhance the look or take more advantage of their materials.

Good examples are the X-movies and the Spider-Man movies where the detail in the piping (X-Men) and designs of the spider emblems/lens are changed for the better. Anybody notice any changes in the costumes in this movie (for the better or worse) from what we've seen?

So to use a good clear picture, I'll use Human Torch as an example:

A few slight differences so far.

- The collar looks to be made of more rubbery material and the "V" arc of the collar has two smaller ridges.

- Gloves have a different form of stitching and is somewhat different in design.

- The "4" emblem also pops up more in the blue parts and is more flat on the surface than the overall roundness in the first.

I was hoping for a little more changes like perhaps the belt or a strip of blue across like the comics.

Any other changes? Comments about the suits this time around?

I'd have preferred they put a waistline belt on the suits: pretty much every comic version worth noting has worn a belt and separating the suits into two pieces would make them more practical anyway (one-piece jumpsuits are extremely impractical when you think about it).

Other than that though the movie outfits are fine by me.

Hmmmmmm.....belts tend to cut you off as in height with outfits like this...

I'm happy with them as is.....

I really think they need belts,I think they costumes look awkward without them.

IMO, in order to put a belt that looks close to good on them, you would have to do something with the V pattern on the front. The 2 together would look very awkward.....if I had to choose between something that cuts off people's height and makes their waist look bigger, or something that gives you a longer and more slender look, I would go with the 2nd. That's what the V does...the belt would look like too much and IMO cut them off in height, especially the guys. As far as Sue it wouldn't really matter.

Given a choice between that 'V' or a belt I'd go with the belt.

Also, I'm not convinced by this height argument... Do you have any examples of this having a big effect as I don't see how a belt is gonna have any really noticeable effect on how tall any of them might look. Maybe a subtle one, but not big enough to merit basing a costumes design on.

Thats just a style generalization used by women for decades. Vertical lines slim and lengthen...where as horizontal lines tend to cut off and give the illusion of being wider. When it is drawn, that can be taken care of by drawing a bigger bust and bigger thighs, but in a normal person, stylists know how to use vertical lines, as opposed to horizontal lines when dressing people. Now, as far as Ben, there wouldn't be much of a problem with that because you have the illusion of a smaller waist because the torso and legs are so large. It would also depend on where the belt fell....as far as Sue is concerned if it were more toward the hip, it probably would not make that big of a difference as slim as Jessica is.....

If the guys were along the lines of 6.2 or more, then I wouldn't have a problem...simply give them larger shoulder pads and thigh pads and that way they wouldn't have such a straight line from head to tow, but would show a bit of waist.

The only difference I thought I saw was that the new uniforms seem to darken almost toblack down the legs which I don't think the early ones did. Or maybe I was seeing things...

I like the old "4" on the old suit, this one looks like it's gonna fall off for some reason

The only change I really wished for was that they'd wear belts or have a 'V' design around their waist, instead of on their chest.

I like the new collar design, and Johnny's longer hair :D

Yeah, they initially seemed to want to implement them, the first pics of the costumes had it on Johnny and it looked pretty good since it breaks up the suit at least a little bit:

I'd definitely be down with a V-Line belt as well if the regular belt looks too clunky.

Anyway, back to the comparisons. Thing's belt has also changed along with the obvious bigger brow:

The change here is mostly in the belt where it receives the same treatment as the collars. It's more rubbery looking and the "4" emblem is centered instead of to the side. It's hard to make out if the boots and the pants are really all that different (especially the stitching) but it's a subtle yet smooth change.

i think he looks so much better hair wise in the second. Alba doesnt, but he does.
I thought the same too. While Chris looks as close to the comics as you can possibly get, Jessica's hair got unneccesarily blonder and kind of weird. I liked her hair in the first alot more since it looks less bleached and natural.

No, I do not like the belt...that picture only makes me more glad that they went without the belt....

I think it's because of the angle, it doesn't do the belt any favors since it almost looks too low. A good idea would be to integrate it into the suit similar to the way they did with the new collar. Plus it actually looks kind of tight, almost choking to a point so maybe thats why they removed it.

do I see an unstable molecule thread hanging from Johnnys crotch in the old uniform pic? You'd think the FF would have better tailers. All you need is a pair of unstable scissors to nip that off lol

I don't like the uniforms. I don't care for the skin tight look. I think they should be little more loose fitting. Like the comics from the Lee/ Kirby period or even Byrne.

Note the slight wrinkles...

And I agree with some others that there should be a waist belt that makes it two pieces.

Now before you go nuts, just hear me out. I know this a photo of a kid. But it's the only uniform I could find that's close to what I talking about.
With some slight changes it could be made a little tighter. But it could keep that "Challengers of the Unknown" look that the FF copied. Add the taller black boots and the black gloves.....slap a 4 on his chest....reduce the collar, color it blue and you got a Kirby / Byrne FF jumpsuit.

Can someone manip this photo?

I would call myself a FF purist and yes belts and more of a kirby look would be cool but I think to pull it off everybody would have to have perfect bodies and the only two in the movie who do are the torch and Sue. I think the new suits work well and give the team a sexy, sleek and slim look and pay homage to the newer FF comics. Of course I wouldn't call the Thing slim ha ha and I like the old Kirby just in trunks look but I'm not sure that would have worked well in the movie (the thing running around in blue undies lol)

I think I know the look your talking about find some pics from the 60's tv show "Lost in Space" that uniform might be more of the look your talking about

IMO, the reason why that works and looks ok, is because the uniform is not Skintight fitting....also, as I've said before, drawing it and wearing it are two different things...
