Films that make you go "Meh..."

I'd say pretty much all the(not already horrible) Star Wars & Star Trek movies are to me as well. Even the best of them never rang my bell. Maybe I just find outer-space films uninteresting.

I love star wars and half of the star trek films but I can see where some people would say "meh". If you dont like space movies then you will definitely have a hard time jumping into these films. I feel like the lord of the rings movies are a 3 movie epic "meh". Just never saw the big deal about them and god was I bored in the two towers.

You see to me the LOTR films actually have a hook for me to get interested. That being that I have always loved mythology and folklore. It's also why I like Conan the Barbarian(not the recent crap but the original). We each bring our own interests into whatever we watch and it also influences what we choose to watch and how well something we've seen will take hold in our memories.

Rise of the planet of the apes was a big 'meh' for me... especially that ending...

No...

I just didn't feel it...

I mean, I'm in no way saying it wasn't an okay film. I was totally rooting for the monkey, and the last half hour of action was amazing... but then it kind of ended on such an underwhelming point...

I mean, all that destruction just so they could go to the woods and climb trees?

And I didn't think anything of the acting, or even the characters themselves.

Well , thank goodness you like the monkey. I think they went to the woods to be free and it sets up a sequel. Which may even be better depending on who they cast as the lead. Also I thought John Lithgow was good. You caught me off guard with this, lol.


My 'meh' movie of the year, Conan the Barbarian. I liked some of the action , scenery , and overall look of the film. However, The blood splats were comical and it felt like watching an Asylum movie on a big budget.

haha thats cool I just don't feel it. I have tried so hard to get into the trilogy, Ive watched the theatrical cuts and even the extended cuts and even try to watch them on TNT from time to time but it just never made me think that was awesome.

John Lithgow and andy serkis carried that movie on there shoulders with ease.

Well the original is a classic for a reason, it was the first of its kind. The series was all about breakthroughs in FX. The original was the makeup on the actors, the remake was how much more real they could push it and the newest one was the SFX in computer performance tracking.

That's the thing, I hate it when a film's SFX is the main reason for them trying it in the first place(Jurrasic park & Avatar also fall into this category). By the time I first saw the original Apes movie it had been out for at least 15-20 years and the FX were dated by then. But it didn't matter because I was there for the story & characters....which were really good and unique and interesting.

I always found Quentin Tarantino's films to be pretty meh.

"The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly" was one of those films I really wanted to like -and I do love the score - but couldn't get into no matter how hard I tried.

Paranormal Activity 1 & 2 "omfg! A door just opened! I'm scared!"

I really want to see them watch a series like 'A Haunting' just to see what the reactions on their faces would be lol. They wouldn't sleep - ever again -

Not to mention the 'logic' in those films is all screwy for those who have lived through a haunting or have spent a lot of time researching into it. Most part - it's been done before and better, just the camera hides this.

- Avatar. The first time I saw it I was dazzled by the visuals. The second time and on it was meh.
- Inglourious Basterds. Strange, because I love almost all of Tarantino's other movies.
- Captain America.
- Every Judd Apatow movie.
- Sherlock Holmes. I'll stick with the BBC series.
- POTC 2. Loved the first one, hated the third one, never saw the fourth one, but the second one was just meh.
- Tron: Legacy. Zzzzzzzz.

Just saw Black Swan on HBO and now I'm going, uuuuhhhhh that's it? after so many accolades and praises and Natalie Portman winning the Oscar I thought it was going to be about some serious heavy subject but it basically is about a person losing touch with reality, well at least that's what I got away from it.

And I only saw it because there was nothing else on.

That's what I love about his movies. To each their own I guess. I wish he made movies that had more heart. My favorite, the first Amazing Stories episode with Kevin Costner set in a bomber during WWII, great stuff!
