I have been playing Final Fantasy 6 or 3 regularly since it came out in 1994. For the SNES I completed it many times and then when it was re-released for PS I grabbed it right away and Have completed it again many times. (I am actually just beggining a fresh campaign)

I thought that this would be a great place to clear up some rumors or just ask some questions if anyone has any. OR just opinions of the game. I will start with a few questions I would like to know.

1 - What is the deal with the whole Ziegfired/Siegfried thing?

2 - Is there any way to save General Leo?

3 - Are there any more 'secret' characters after Gogo and Umaro?

4 - I have heard a rumor about a time piece that you can get and travel betwwen the world of light and the world of ruin. Is there any truth to this?

5 - I have also heard a rumor that Maudin and Pheonix can be unlocked as characters. I doubt this but is it true?

Now I am sure that there will be nothing new to anyone here but if there is something that you guys don't know or were wondering about just ask. I'm sure that someone here knows the answer.

I would also like you're opinions on Ragnarok. Do you think it is better to get the esper and learn Ultima or take the sword and gamlble it at the Collesium?

I prefer the esper because Ultima is a great spell.

Actually, it's a good idea to turn Ragnarok into a sword and then get Ultima from the Cursed Shield. Wear the shield (with a ribbon) through 255 battles and it will turn into the Paladin shield. This shield will teach you Ultima.

The only characters you can "save" are Mog, Cid, and Shadow.

You have a choice between a Golden Hairpin and Moogle in the World of Balance. Go to the summit where Tritoch sat, and you will have a choice. Save the Mog and take him through the serpent current to leanr "Water Rondo", which you can never learn in the World of Ruin. With so few options to conduct water magic, it's a much better thing to have than a Golden Hairpin, IMO.

If you jump off the Floating Continent without him, Shadow will die trying to put the statues back in balance.

When you wake up in the World of Ruin as Celes, feed Cid only the fastest moving fish. Look in your rare inventory to see if you've caught a good one. Eventually he will recover.

....And, I'm pretty surprised that this isn't a more popular topic

    So am I.

Besides you can get the Gold Hairpin a few more times throughout the game.

I did know about the Cursed shield But I was unaware that you could learn Ultima from it. Maybe next time I will forgo the Ragnarok Esper. On a side note equip the ribbon with the Cursed shield and to kill two birds with one stone equip the Curded Ring as well.

As for saving Cid. if he lives does he don anything other that say hello.

I thank you Honey Vibe. All I learned was that you could learn Ultima from the Paladin Sield, but I am sure tht others learned much more. Do you have any insight as to the Ziegfires/Siegfried thing. That has been bothering me for years.

    Anyone Anyone?

I don't think Cid every says anything besides "Thanks Celes!" for the rest of the game.

I myself have never cracked the Cursed Ring, and I don't know if it's possible. Someone let me know.

Siegfried? I just have no idea. I've always gotten the feeling that he was a character designed for FFIII, but he didn't make the cut so was given a silly secondary role here and there in the main storyline.
It may be a bad joke that the real Siegfried is a wimp (The Ghost Train incident), who is being impersonated (talk to Sieg in the Colosseum) by someone who can wipe the floor with you (The Seigfried Fighter in the Colosseum). Who knows.

One is Siegfired the other is Ziegfried. Aslo when you are in the cave breaking into Fargo Castle in the world of ruin, you can follow one of them up into a secret passeage where there is only a chest. I cannot remember what is in it. Anyway it is a sub plot that has no proper ending. I WANT CLOSURE.

All online sources say he's just a supporting character goof, something like Ultros. Funny that Ultros and Siegfried both wound up janitors in the Colosseum...

For me, the biggest open question was Bannon. What happened to him? It's a plothole that's way too big.

He got old and turned into Duncan. I know that is not true. It is just one of the downfalls to haveing limited technology. Bannon King of Blew. Although that Heal would have been handy later in the game.

Ahem named after a mythical swordsman for you to gain more insight into this fellow. Try searching in older Squaresoft RPG's.

I spent a long time on this one. No.

News to me too. As for Gogo. He appeared in FFV, he was a guy that you could fight and learn the mimic job from him.

Back then gamfaqs did not exist. Also you could do some awesome crap with game genie. I remember hacking FF4/2 to get a bunch of items that were removed from the American version. My personal favorite was the porno mag. Oh yes Honey Vibe it is so nice to see you posting. ^_^

Game Genie had a certain flair to it. It was special. Hey, you have a 4 line signature on my 1280 by 1024 resolution screen. :(

Game Genies should be used for fun only. If you couldn'r finish a game without it you are not worhty of using it.
