WOW!! The Takara piece is so beautiful! It looks more realistic compared to Hottoys, which is cartoon like but cuter, but still I prefer the Takara version for the cool head swap and dead on look:up:

As much as I love the Batman headsculpt of the Takara (again, far, FAR superior to the others), I think I'll mostly keep it in "Bruce" mode, partly because I'll already have other Batmen and partly to avoid the horrible neck-joint.

And it really does just look very cool in that mode.

For what it's worth, here's how I would grade the 1/6th scale Batman Begins figures:

A – Takara… the most authentic (even the belly fold LOL); only the neck keeps this one from an A+, but the clear favorite nonetheless
B – Hot Toys… some very nice qualities, but a bit too doll-like and stiff compared to the Takara
C – Mattel Action Cape... a bit of a surprise here, but dollar-for-dollar this is a very good value (if only Takara had used a similar head/neck joint)
D – Medicom... would rate a C if priced under $50, but no more than that under any circumstance
F – DC Direct... no redeeming qualities at any price (I wouldn't even take it for free)

Grading based on design, execution, and cost comparison (i.e., the more it costs, the more I expect, and thus a higher standard to which it is held).

well if anyone ever offers it to you for free, pass it to me then.
LOL, I got close to free once... I could have gotten one for $20, but that DC version offends me so I passed even though I could have probably sold it on eBay for $40 or more.

^^^^^ if you can get forbidden planet to ship it to you, then you can order it on there website (forbidden planet home shopping) it's around the £119.00 mark, none have appered on E-bay as far as i can find.

hope this helps:) :)

there is definately something about the head sculpt on the takara that captures the look better than the others but the cut neck ruins whatever advantage it had. the finishing on the takara looks cheap compared with either the hot toys or the medicom. i've seen more shots of the hot toys figure over at one sixth warrior and it blows the others away imo. the armor looks better, the cape looks better, the belt puts the others to shame, the cowl fits the body the best (even if the ears are a tad bit too long for begins) and best of all it comes with the blade runner inspired grapple gun! and its the cheapest! the takara looks like a glorified mattel figure compared with the detail on the hot toys. ive heard the hot toys body isnt as flexible as takara or medicom but the proprtions are better and flexibility isnt much of an issue with that armor anyway. i think the hot toys figure wins hands down.

im going to quote myself and take back what i said.
that takara figure rocks. definately the better of the two. i dont even mind that neck anymore. i actually think its ball jointed so its worth it. and the first night out suit is the best thing ever.
the articulation is also a huge factor. if i spend $200 on an action figure it better be posable.
that hot toys figure looks pretty stiff. just a bit too bulky. it looks very good but too static. that armor looks pretty crippling versus the takara which can do the ****ing splits.
and the cowl looks goofy. still the hot toys looks better than the medicom. i wish the takara had a better cape material. the velvet and finished seams on the medicom and hot toys capes look way nicer. and the hot toys belt is amazing too.
but that takara figure looks so lifelike.
it will be mine.

I think Takara owes me a sales bonus ;)

Here are some more pictures of the Takara, as if we needed any more pictures to convince us to buy it:

Lurvely.

Man, the other companies really cheaped out on the accessories, didn't they? Takara are actually giving us the cool stuff you'd actually want.

What's the Takara's release date again? The site I ordered it from says June, which means it should be out within days - but it could have changed and not been updated.

i read june, but i've pre-ordered mine and in told september?

anyone know an actual release date?

WOW!
I thought the Medicom and Hot Toys Batman figures looked great but this Takara Batman and the Catwoman figures both look more awesome!
I like the fact that you can switch them to their alter egos - Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle!
I wonder if Takara will make a Superman Returns/Clark Kent figure as well?
