The Dark Knight "Five dead, two of them cops"

Lets get the obvious out of the way
Maroni
Weurtz

We can assume the driver and the other bodyguard of Maroni (terrible body guard)

I think we can also assume Rameriez not that she is dead but as she is possibly knocked out they can assume that she is dead by her dead radio silence and since they knew Dent has a vendetta for Rameriez.

I think the statement was much more general then you all make it out to be. I think Gordon was talking about the whole night, maybe not just Harvey.

i agree.. well maybe not the whole night.. but maybe all together? just guestimating since im a bit tired n shweepy but doesnt Joker say to Bats in the interogation room "i wanted to see what youd do.. and you didnt let me down... You let 5 people die"....

The two cops in the hospital (no one really knows except the Joker how Dent got out), Wuertz, Maroni's bodyguard, presumably Maroni. Other possibilities: Ramirez might be missing, and Gordon, learning from his wife that she called to tell her to leave, would assume Dent killed her. The bartender might have witnessed something of Wuertz's death, and if spotted by Dent, might have provoked another coin toss.

anyone got Nolans cell #? why dont we just ask him???

Watching TDK Harvey says to Ramirez "You are the second cop to say that" who is the 2nd person he is talking about?

this seems to be the biggest riddle of the whole movie and no one has solved it yet...

I know it's pretty amazing. I don't even think Trebek would have an answer.

I don't think people should look this far into it, I mean we will never solve it untill we speak to Nolan. :) I think it was just a statement to demonstrate the situation, to show what has happened to Harvey and to give reason for Batman to become "The Dark Knight" But thats just MO.

i agree.. but with so many things well thought out and explained in the movie this seems out of the ordinary and unlike Nolan that these 5 dead 2 of em cops unaccounted for... its such a specific statement.... ahhh how the human inquisitive mind works lol

Here is my take on this highly disturbing mystery of American cinema, a theory I just posted on the Dark Lands of the DC Comics boards.

A thesis on Two Face murders.
:oldrazz:

The five dead would be

The two cops at the hospital the Joker killed, but Harvey is blamed.
The bodyguard pulled offscreen as Maroni gets in the car. The driver.
The bent cop Wuertz. I think he was actually a detective, so he wouldn't technically count as a cop.
Two Face DID NOT kill Maroni. He flipped the coin and Maroni was spared wasn't he? If he died at all, as was suggested in the movie, it was caused by the car crash injuries. A technicality that makes Dent responsible, but he did not directly killed Maroni. The coin decided.

Come to think of it, Gordon would know that Wuertz was killed in the bar, but he wouldn't know who did it unless someone told him on his way to save his family from Dent. So then Gordon assumes Dent killed him 'cause Wuertz picked him up to kidnap him, and Gordon assumes Dent puts some bullets in Maroni's two guys, and assumes Dent killed the two cops at the hospital.

Or, we can think of it this way. The five dead are Maroni, bodyguard, driver, Wuertz, Ramirez (assuming she goes missing to escape for what she did, but how the hell would Gordon know at that point?). Then the two dead cops at the hospital would not be attributed to Dent, but the detectives would.

Whatever works for you.

ummmmmmmmm... this doesnt help a bit....... but THANKS!!

Personally I would have said it was :-

1) The cop that the Joker actually killed in the hospital (the one that was guarding Two-Face);
2) Maroni's Bodyguard;
3) Maroni's Driver;
4) Maroni; and
5) Wurtz.

!?!?! Mister Sinister !?!?!

How about he killed someone off screen getting from place to place?

Hasn't anyone considered that when Gordon says "5 dead, two of em cops" he doesn't actually mean Harvey himself has killed? Maybe he means 5 people have died from this whole Dent debacle, including Harvey himself of course.

Wouldn't the 5 be?:

Brian (fake Batman)
Judge Surillo
Comissioner Loeb
2 cops (last names of Dent & Harvey)

All were killed by the Joker due to Batman not taking off his mask publicly. Batman says to blame him possibly for that reason. And when he says to Gordon at the end "They can never know what he did.", couldn't the "he" be Joker?

'Cause if the public knew about Joker killing the people trying to help bring down the mob, they might still live in fear of the criminal underground.

Batman being known for their deaths would mean that criminals would still fear him thinking that he is capable of killing.

Plus the public might not care about the deaths of Wuertz & 2 of Maroni's henchmen (and Maroni if he died in the crash).

I dunno.....that's all I got.

Nah, dude. The statement is undoutably the kills that Dent committed (or believe to have committed). The Joker killed far more ppl than that, Remember he (the Joker) also shot a cop square in the face before the big chase sequence after Dents arrest.
