Flashpoint - DC Animated.

Phenomenal movie, the animation was lacking.

But my favourite part was seeing Aqualad, oh young justice how I miss you sooooooo incredibly much.

Did you slip and watch it online BH?

I'm really trying not to.. How good is Kevin Conroy in it?

I may have :cwink: but its all good have pre-ordered it still. So if you're gonna buy it anyway I don't see any harm at all.

He's not in it much at all tbh its definitely a cameo. His costume design(s) are good.

The voices were pretty spot on, Sam Daly didn't work very well as Superman IMO but he was OK as the Flashpoint version who barely had any lines.

The guy who played the Flash was fantastic and so is the guy who played Flashpoint Batman.

As some others have said too some of the designs weren't the best especially Superman (pre-flashpoint) and Aquaman. Ugh! Would be the best way to describe them.

Good movie. Wasn't too happy with the animation though. Reminded me a bit of Marvel's Anime attempts. Where everyone just looks super butch. Aquaman was basically Arnold Schwarzenegger. And some of the women, looked too petite. Wonder Woman looked just all wrong to me. And completely hated the obvious Flash CGI models. But other than that, really enjoyable. I haven't read the comics, but I was really happy to see characters like Grifter and Aqualad in there.

Good movie. Hated the animation and Thomas Wayne Batman's voice, but still enjoyed it overall.

I thought it was ok.

I pretty much lost interest in it before the halfway point, but entertaining enough overall. Unintentionally funny at times. Pretty violent. Never read the comic and don't really know all that much of what went down, so I can't make any comparisons there. Based on the film, I think I would've laughed at it.

Liked the animation, but didn't like some of the designs. Don't know what was up with the CGI Flash.

I haven't watched it as I'm waiting for the Blu-Ray as I did with Unbound.

So many pirates...

But what does it matter if you buy it anyway? You just get to see it early and WBs still gets their money when it's out.

I'd say its bad those that watch t but not but it but not the other way around.

Well i trust you BH/HHH, but i doubt majority here ever bother to buy even a dvd out here.

I aways buy them even if I don't like them cause I'm a sucker for extras :oldrazz:

Yeah it's a shame people download instead of buying, it's like the anime market it's small so it needs all the money it can get.

Pretty much just like the comics then?

I always buy them. heheh. :D

Definitely buying this. Maybe two. Question, BH, what does the animation for the next JL project look like? Is it done in Flashpoint style or does it look different? And are they all wearing their NU52 suits?

Wow...another voice of reason.....Rehashing a book is just lazy. And you can never get all the things in the movie from the book.

I don't mind if they do a book but I want them to follow it closely or not hype it up as a "direct adaptation" of it, if it's just loosely based off of or they borrow some ideas from it and use them as the plot then I don't mind that at all either, I just don't want to go into it thinking it's a beat for beat animated (or live action) adapted of the book. "False advertising" and it pisses me off. :argh:

Kevin....I posted early on this thread about making DVDs that tie up loose ends from those animated series......

1. What happened to the evil JL from "A Better World"? Do they escape and get revenge on their Batman?

2. I keep going back to Luthor and the Anti-Life equation....(epic)
What do you think?

I love anything DCAU and from that universe. I'd love to see ANYTHING done or revisited or added in that universe, I'd be fine if those were the only series they ever did (even though my favorites Barry Allen and Hal Jordan don't technically exist in it and are instead amalgamated into their subsequent comic counterparts in the series, everything worked really well for what it was), I'd welcome ANY features set in the DCAU.

HOWEVER - I don't need EVERY single question answered with the series, and am okay with not every "i" being dotted, I don't mind some of the "loose ends" you mentioned remaining just that - loose ends. I'd much rather that than them beat the show to death like the Simpsons and quit while the universe is still rich and full instead of dried up (although who's to say that could EVER happen with the DCAU ;) (MORE BATMAN & SUPERMAN TAS!!). Luthor having the Ant-Life equation is a pretty amazing way to go out, they didn't pull any punches with the show's ending and I was really okay with how it ended. Both times, truthfully, with the Epilogue episode and then later on when they decided to do another season. Both were great ways to potentially end the show, (although Epilogue resonates a little more emotionally for me - but I liked that they went back and did an ending that was more JLA centric). But if they ever did more DCAU anything, I'd be the first in line to check it out, but I don't think they need to tie up eeeevery "loose end" with everything, I prefer they leave some wonder to it, you know?

I didn't see any animation for it they just kept showing images from the comic but judging by the end of this film I'd say they'll have their New 52 costumes :cwink:

I really hope they try to get close to Jim Lee's style, best they've done matching a style for me was in All Star Superman where I think they matched Frank Quitelys Artwork very well.

Aah, okay. And yeah, I agree. And I'm very anxious to see what they come up with. I did like how they did Cooke's artwork in JL: New Frontier too for the most.

Would you be opposed to a "cgi" Jim Lee style? I think it'd be interesting, but I still enjoy 2D a lot.

So, how many Wildstorm characters made it into the New 52? Do the WildC.A.T.S. exist, or did only Grifter make the transition?

I really liked the movie, lots of great action in it. A bit more gritty/dark than the other DC animated movies, which I'm fine with. I'm not a big fan of anime and the animation style reminded me of that.

I never read Flashpoint so I went in completely blind and I hated how Superman was handled. Didn't Geoff write Flashpoint? No surprise that he completely tossed Supes aside as a tertiary character (i really hate how Geoff treats Superman in the New 52, it's awful).

Other than how Supes was treated, I thought the movie was very good.

Don't read comics, so I didn't know much about Flashpoint. Usually I hate time travel and those kind of comic booky stuff, but this movie was phenomenal. Easily my favorite DC animated movie.

Pros:
The action was very brutal and intense
Good story
Some very emotional scenes that gave me the feels
Voice actors were good

Cons:
Some character designs were..... interesting to say the least.

Yea Supes was written this way in the comic too. I wasn't too fond of it but it is what it is. Thomas Wayne being Batman is more than enough to make up for it. I'm only 35 minutes in so I dunno who all shows up but I really hope they could find a way to work Martha as The Joker into the movie just solely because I wanna see that animated. But yea, I don't like the Supes hate either at all but you gotta admit, it ****ing rocks seeing Barry take center stage like this

I actually like the Superman arc I just wish there was more of it. People need to remember this as a world where everything is ****ed!

Exactly. Poor Supes was kept all his life being used for experiments and tortured, and still was heroic.

i don't know if they exist as a team, but voodoo had a series for a bit, i think spartan made the jump, and hellspont is now a superman enemy. they tried to push them hard at the launch but i don't think any of them really stuck, except MAYBE grifter, i think he still shows up on a regular basis

I enjoyed it. Solid good stuff, entertaining all the way. I even quite liked the, so spat on, animation and art. Very nice background art and the fighting was neatly animated. Some character design was questionable though.

The alternate DC world was cool, but the story itself wasn't that interesting. I liked Allen's arc though regarding his mother and her prayer.

7/10

i liked the animation, it was better than superman unbound. that was more cartoony, if you know what i mean. this animation is more detailed. it is more of an anime style, minus the eyes, but not as good a style as young justice. it is still better animation than the old batman, superman and jl shows.

the action is very fluid. i am curious what style of all the animations in the dc animated shows, which do most of you prefer?

some of the dc showcases were good animation. by my favorite is the superman shazam one and young justice animation.

also there is a like 2sec clip after the credits of this so check it out.
