Four WW III One Shots, Suicide Squad Announced

I find it funny that it says "wanted for crime" on Plastiques poster.

Way to be specific there FBI.

Interpol actually, not FBI.

And god, I love that byline: They get a chance to die for their country.

It's a crying shame that it's not collected in trades actually. I've never had a chance to read the run but would love too.

A lot of real-world wars are fought in less than two weeks. They're not the big wars or the publicized wars, but they go on every single day.

Not to mention that, apparently, you people have no problem with Morrison's JLA World War III happening in less than a day and everything going back to normal the day after...but this one takes two weeks and all of a sudden it's "LOLZ TEH RITERS ARE STOOPID"?

Plus, unless you've been skipping the last thirty weeks of 52, it's easy to see how it's building up. It's not like they're all of a sudden fighting for a few hours and then it's over.

Then thats a battle not a war. Semantics yes. Yet true.

They have all the issues there. I've been ordering a couple at a time. Love it.

I'm so onboard for all these one shots($2.50? heck yeah) and can't wait for Suicide Squad. Ostrander on Star Wars: Legacy is really great too. He actually makes you care about a Star Wars comic. Which should be considered a miracle.

Download them. I don't normally advocate piracy, but in this case I do. I downloaded the run, and have been picking up issues wherever I can.

nerds figthing about the number of a war WOW!!!!!!1!! u guys suck! anyways this si something MArvel is being copied by because of Civil War and Thunderbolts.

Firstly, a regular war and a civil war are different.

Secondly, I'm fairly certain that Suicide Squad came first.

I could be wrong about that one though.

can a world war be confined to 1-3 weeks ?
To quote Winston Churchill....
Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.

I'm so there.
That's horrible:cmad:
But I love it:woot:

WTF is WWIII?
Does this take place right after 52?

What a brilliant question. I sure wish whoever made this thread had posted an article explaining that.

Oh wait, he f***ing did.

I may just do that.

I decided to send an email to DC requesting/asking about a trade for the run. I know DC said before that if they get a good amount of interest for something they will put it into print so I thought I might as well try.

I'm a bit conflicted about Ostrander's writing. He came in to some comics I read and a couple of issues later the comic folded, so to me he was almost always a harbinger of death. Still, his Suicide Squad run was, for the great majority of it, great. The book dealt with a lot of psychological issues on all the characters that I doubt that Morrison would do as well as other writers; his penchant to bring in the weirdness would muddle it, IMO. I hope that he can bring back an awesome SS and doesn't disappoint me like Fabian Nicieza did when he revived X-Force.

I'm not stressing about the WWIII thing, we've also seen how "resilient" the DC population is and how they go back to business as if nothing had happened in a couple of days.

Anyone a fan of Ostrander's Suicide Squad should read his run on the Spectre. Best work with the Spectre in his 60 years of existence.

is he the guy writing batman? that arc sucked balls.

Of I read of it, I have to say, Lapham's work is destroying Ostrander's.

Specifically for Harlekin, because he was *****ing:

NRAMA: Finally – again, it’s a little ways off, but big picture - what will this miniseries encompass?

JO: So – how did Rick Flag survive being at ground zero when that nuke went off in Jotunheim? I’ll tell you a little secret – I knew when I wrote it. How’s that for a tease? [laughs]

We also want to redefine certain characters and aspects of the Squad. The stories were originally written in the ‘80s so the history can use a little re-tooling. I want the Squad to be as vital a part of the DCU today as it was in its heyday. If the Squad is ever going to get its own series again, this needs to be its launching pad. If I do my part, I know the fans will do theirs.

Wow, thanks 'Phere.

And Leag, are you referring to the Tales of the Unexpected series? That's like 3 issues compared to Ostrander's 62, in which Ostrander completely revitalized the character and made a landmark defining run that can be counted among the best runs in the history of the mainstream DC Comics history.

Why do I keep thinking Rick Flag is spelled with two g's?

I had the same problem. Somehow, it feels logical for the character to be called Flagg instead of Flag, but it's apparently always been that way. I called him Flagg for ages until finally someone pointed it out to me.
