Even if F4 doesn't do that well, it won't be because of closeness (or not) to the comic books.
Obviously, I never said otherwise. If the movie doesn't do that well, it'll probably be because of how tumultuous the production has been and an inability to overcome the overwhelmingly negative WOM on the project that has been building for the better part of the year. And with a significant portion of the fanbase not on board with the movie it could probably use all the help it could get.
The idea that the criticism directed towards FFINO is because of posters picking on poor widdle FOX is totally and laughably wrong. So why is it that FOX's recent X-Men films have been widely lauded by many of these same posters? And virtually everything that we've been seeing from Deadpool has been praised?
If Marvel Studios tried to pass off the joke known as FFINO as a proper interpretation of Marvel's First Family they would receive a similar amount of criticism from long time fans of the FF. But you know that already
Quote for truth. I've said more than enough great things about both DOFP and Deadpool, but it's funny how quickly that gets forgotten the second you criticize Fox for another completely unrelated production.
Strangely, I can handle an impenetrable wall of negativity over the random timeline/continuity discussions or OT actor whining.
Look, there is at least one poster in the FF forums that is just pure MCU fanboy. But, he also has his mirror counterpart. The vast majority have legitimate criticisms. You just have to not take it personally. I mean, I'm interested in the movie, but I have to acknowledge the Doom as a blogger jokes just write themselves.
No one here should take it personally, yet unfortunately we have folks around here who can't handle any criticisms or differing view points without getting petty:
I started reading your post and began seeing a genuinely unbiased opinion - until I arrived at the above statement.
You're exactly the type of poster that makes those FF forums unbearable and hopefully the film's success can disarm you and the rest of the rabid Disney fandom that's so prevalent here in SHH.
Originally I wanted Trank's FF to succeed because I'm a UFF fan and I like everyone involved with the project, starting with Trank. Now I want it to succeed for both the above and to vanquish the internet monstrosity that is the Disney fan's vendetta against Fox's UFF adaptation.
