X-MEN/RUNAWAYS (FEB060020)
Written by BRIAN K. VAUGHAN
Penciled by SCOTTIE YOUNG
Cover by JO CHEN
32 PGS./Rated A...Free
FOC - 3/23, On Sale - 5/6/2006

Free Comic Book Day is May 6, 2006 and Marvel is offering X-Men/Runaways, featuring an all-new 11 page story showcasing the X-Men's first run-in with the left-coast teen heroes the Runaways.

Written by Runaways scribe Brian K. Vaughan with art by Scottie Young, the all-new story entitled "We Don't Need No Education" finds the former teen superheroes the X-Men looking to drop a little knowledge on the Runaways. But it just might be the rebellious Runaways who do some teaching of their own.

"I'm really excited about showcasing some of the Marvel Universe's coolest characters, classic and contemporary, in a brand new story that will be completely accessible to all Free Comic Book Day readers, young and old," says Vaughan.

Also included in this Free Comic Book Day Special is Ultimate Spider-Man Saga, a look at the highlights of the 90-plus issue history of Ultimate Spider-Man. And if that wasn't enough, there is also a preview of Marvel Adventures: The Avengers and a Franklin Richards short story because, well, everybody loves Franklin.

Mark May 6th on your calendar and pick up X-Men/Runaways at your local comic shop because as Brian K. Vaughan said, "If nothing else, we guarantee you'll get your money's worth!"

Joe Quesada echoes everybody's sentiments here at Marvel hen he says, "We're excited to present new material this year and pleased to be a part of Free Comic Book Day for the fifth year in a row."

Can't say I'm the biggest fan of the art, but it's free, so no big need to complain.

Yeah, not digging the artwork, but I can't ***** and moan, because seriously my two favorite Marvel teams in one FREE comic?

Heaven. :D

Wow. Umm.... the first drawing's pretty darn cool... but the second and third?

Colossus should go on a diet.

So should the purple-haired girl.

Yeah, the cover is by Jo Chen, who has done most of the covers for the Runaways series, and is seriously probably my most favorite cover artist ever.

And I actually like that Gert, the purple haired girl, is plus sized, which is normal for her in the comics. Gives more variety to the females in the comic verse rather than having most of them look like they could go on to be supermodels after they get out of their costumes.

Oh, okay. So she's supposed to be a bit overweight. That's pretty cool by me, actually.

But Colossus should not be so fat.

seriously, Colossus looks like a metallic Blob.

And Beast had transformed from a man to an ape to a cat to a horse, apparently. Or maybe a rabbit.

Even though the art is crap I'll be picking it up because it'd free. Too bad Alphona's not doing the art, though. Actually, I think the art in this fits the Runaways fairly well. It does not fit the X-Men well.

I think Kitty and Scott are having a very bored dry-humping session.

And Danny Devito stold Logan's outfit and mocked up some claws apparently.

I can't wait to see how Beast's new camel-like mutation will go over with the regular crowd.

Scott and Kitty are practically on each other, and Emma's a clear 5 feet away from him.

There wasn't enough room to separate them with Colossoblob taking up the whole freakin cover.

I totally already said that, but in a much better way. ;)

Hahaha! You guys kill me!

And I also agree it's great that Gert is a bit chubby, she's also totally one of the coolest teen characters in the entire Marvel U!

So how do you go about getting the comic? Living in the UK and having monthly deliveries from an online comic shop is gonna make it pretty hard for me...

I seriously thought that we made it clear to Marvel during the awful "Human Torch" solo series that we (and by "we" I mean the majority of fans) cannot STAND Skottie Young's style.

it is a weird style, but i think it suited New Warriors and i think it does suit Runaways, but NOT the X-Men.

Those aren't pecs on Colossus there ****!!!

Hmm, I don't know about deliveries. I know that it will be on a Saturday, so maybe if you go to your comic site that Saturday and order it then.

Beast and Colossus seem to be gettin' a tad... close, eh?

Please. Anybody who's got above average agility in the X-Men is REQUIRED to hang out on Colossus's shoulders. It's a given.

The art at first I hated it, but its just very VERY different.

Runaways and X-men...FOR FREE!?!?!

Yes please!

True, but what about the fact that Lockheed is about to suckle on Kitty's teet?

It's a very bored three-way dry-humping session.
