this is my second thread and i have another question. as always i prefer the response to be well thought out. i hate quick answers with no depth....here it goes:

do you think that comic heros should keep evolving and becoming more powerful?
i will use superman and the xmen as examples.

Superman is on earth and is considered to be stronger than the hulk (which i know he is not) and 2nd in speed to the flash. he also rejuvinates with the sun, freeze breath and heat rays and blah blah blah. with that power, why is he kept fighting and living on eath, where he technically shouldn't lose a fight. he should be friggin unstoppable which brings up another point: why whould anyone read about a charector like that? i read a few of his books and i HATE Clark Kent segments as well.

Now the XMEN. instead of charector developments, they have:
1 omega mutants,
2 mutants that can alter reality,
3 they create a twin sister for Xavier who just popped out of no-where with insane power level
4 they have an extremely powerful and new Summers brother,
5 psylocke popped out of death
6 Wolverine remembers everything from his dumb over-played past(which cant get any worse than weapon X)

*****!!! cant they create new story's without over doing it? what do you think?

7 oh yeah, that blood of Apocalypse storyline made no f....ng sense, yet apparently, if that ******ed version of apocalypse could wipe out the world, so can 13 year old boy with matches.

It's frustrating. I stopped reading those types of stories. It's no longer about 'saving the day'.

Unstoppable hero? Meet unstoppable villain. But that's not what bugs you. You just hate Superman.

They use those plot elements for character development. Really, not that hard to understand.

i guess you all missed the point of what i had tried to say. its that these powerful beings simply take away the vulnerable human side of the charectors and putting them on the road to more incredible and ridiculous stories that can not take a step back to the real world because they simply are too powerful. instead they can go in only one direction:even more ridiculous stories and adventures that would require more and more power.

We have plenty of human characters to relate to and read about.
I occaisionally want to read about a super powerful character with stories far removed from the real world because it inspires my imagination and creativity.

You don't?
Don't read it and don't dare ask for such uniformity of superheroes just because you happen not to like a particular approach. Your idea of what constitutes a superhero tale is not the only valid one.

But you just stated you hate the Clark Kent segments. You want relatability, you get it but you whine.

It's all about what a writer does with that. How well written the characters are. If it weren't for good writers guys like Superman and Hulk would not have comic books today. Have you ever tried reading GOOD Superman stories like Red Son or Superman: For all Seasons or hell, the Superman/Batman books? You can read the hardcovers of Justice For All. There are plenty of examples out there. Powers do not make the character, no matter how big. if that was the case then go ahead and remove superheroes in general.

As for Wolverine's past, I love the twist. They have been doing this whole amnesia thing for decades and it was beginning to get old. It's about time we got some answers and with this guy's history (over 200 years worth) we won't have a problem with that.

How do you know that Superman isn't stronger than the Hulk?
Maybe I missed a crossover issue somewhere but I don't recall there ever being a truly decided stronger foe. It's more up to which character you like better and you seem to dislike Superman very much, but that's no reason to say that he isn't stronger than the Hulk without fact.

And you should try reading the latest Superman arc, Up, Up, and Away. I disliked Superman for many years because his stories were bland and boring but this arc has gotten me back into Supes.

But you probably won't try. You don't seem like the type who will try things. :O

Actually,.. u need to take a break from comics.

We take them as seriously as fantasy should be taken,.. and most of us get upset when characters / Powers / Abilities depart from what was established before - but we usually don't make a definative statement, (superman is uber powerfull but not as strong as the hulk and has no character development-and clark kent doesn't count.) And then complain about powerlevels.

All I personally req on power levels is that they remain consistant with the character.
If there is a power boost,.... explain it. If they get strong enough to flip a tractor trailer over with a pinky,... don't have them too weak to pickup a volkswagon bug w/o an explanation the next day.

take a moment and chill,.. everyone understands what u are saying,.........

Just because you don't like Superman doesn’t mean he's a bad character, that's just your opinion. Fact is, Superman is the most popular superhero ever created. In fact he is one of the most popular fictional characters ever created. He existed long before you were born and will exist long after your gone so he must have something going for him.

As for the X-Men points, it's simple , if you have such a problem with the stories then don't read them.
