Fright Fest: The Official Horror Thread

I just looked it up and no I haven't. I'm guessing it's good?

I just got done watching the special editions of Friday The 13th Parts 1 & 2 on DVD. I plan on watching the whole series, right up to FvJ. I also plan on watching the Halloween Trilogy (Parts 1, 2, and H20, all the others are crap). I have a bunch others I'll be watching too.
I'm doing this too, probably starting tonight. I got the Special Edition boxset with Jason's mask and I've never seen the uncut versions of of any of the films. Making plans like Kane to try to watch a horror movie every night this month (Oct 25th/ midnight the 26th will be Silent Hill: revelations, I cannot wait)

I liked it. Its like a Hit man version of The Wicker Man with some paranoia and family drama stuff thrown in.

The director Ben Wheatley's next film is called Freakshift. The film's high concept involves a world where creatures rise up at night and terrorise decent citizens. That leads to the creation of the Freakshift themselves, a government-organised band of thrill-seeking hunters who are happy to go out a-killing of a night "for duty, sport and money."

Huh, interesting. Is The Kill List on Netflix?

Cool, i'll add on my queue. I just need 6 more horror films and I'll be ready for October.

They'll be releasing some of the classic Universal Monster movies on blu ray. I plan to purchase that and try to see some films I haven't before.
Also there's a few my girlfriend hasn't seen but she's not a fan of horror and prefers we watch movies like Hocus Pocus.

Are the movies in the boxed set all uncut? I bought all of the special editions individually when they first came out, and the only one with any added footage was the first one (I think they added a couple of seconds to Annie's death scene, and most certainly at least an extra 5 to 10 seconds was added onto Kevin Bacon's death scene). I'm sure the others all had scenes that were cut by the MPAA, but none of them were added back in for parts 2 through 8. I know when Jason speared the two teens making love in Part 2, it was a much longer and more elaborate scene. Same with the girl getting stabbed through the rubber dingy in the lake in Part 4. In Part 7, Jason was supposed to crushed the black kid's skull into the size of a walnut. Are these scenes edited back in for your boxed set? Let me know, because if they are I'll certainly buy the boxed set too.

My copy of John Carpenter's Halloween is the extended cut, with like 15 extra minutes of footage which was shot for the TV broadcast. The original theatrical version was considered too raunchy for TV back in 1980. But after it was edited for TV, it was 15 minutes short of its 2 hour time slot. So John Carpenter, who was in the process of making the sequel at the time, wrote a couple of extra scenes, got the original cast back for a couple of days of shooting, and then filmed some extra scenes for the TV version. My copy is the original theatrical version, plus the additional scenes shot for TV. Very cool.

Just got done watching "Silent Night" (remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night). I liked it a lot. Loved the homages to the original films ("Garbage Day!" haha). I recommend it.

I saw this earlier. It wasn't great , but definitely worth watching if your a fan of slasher films. It's very different than the original. Also the town is filled with a bunch of a**holes that mostly deserved what they had coming.
