4 Shows Worth Fixing

Heroes:Whats Not Working
The roller-coaster pacing has grown sluggish, the crazy cool cliff-hangers have gone MIA, and wimpy rookies like Wonderless Twins Maya and Alejandro have stolen way too much screen time. Plus, the amnesia for Peter, so cliche. And Matt and Suresh as My Two Dads, seriously?! Worst of all, stranding Hiro in a truly unconvincing evocation of feudal Japan has been disastrous. How to Fix It: The Show needs a focused, big-picture story that gives all the characters a unifying, larger purpose. The Old Heroes murder mystery and super powered super-virus subplot are promising...ramp them up. Questing Hiro, scheming HRG and power-collecting Sylar are strong story generators; activate them. And Claire needs to get out of high school; grappling with mean-girl cheerleaders and a boring boyfriend is so been-there done-that.

I couldn't have said it better myself...i really think they nailed it. Hiro in the past was fun at first, but Ando reading his scrolls in the present is getting tiresome. I don't mind Peter's amnesia, he's still the most fun to watch. And Dania Ramirez and Shalim Ortiz are sooo boring. And I've read plenty of complaints in other threads and forums about Molly, Matt and Suresh. Lets hope she stays in that coma for the rest of the season.

Don't worry fellow fans...other shows that were mentioned which are also sliding a bit in ratings and getting hit by critics...Prison Break and Grey's Anatomy. Lets hope someone is listening...Tim Kring...NBC?

Personally I think people need to **** and quit their *****ing, this is leading somewhere good, and I am enjoying this season more than last.

I gotta admit I have been enjoying the pace I feel its made me think so what I haven't enjoyed it as much as last season it still stands head and shoulders above most programmes but last season it didn't really get good till episode 8: Homecoming IMO and anyways there is still more goods than bads

I think people just need to be patient. I think everything will soon come together and the answers we want will show up.

Except for the fact that Heroes is actually good this season. Fans just need to quit b****ing. No, it isnt last season, and thats a good thing. It should be different. And you know what? I honestly think that this season started off better than last season. Give it some time, and the story will grow.
Plus, EW just likes to suck Ugly Betty's b***s and shove everything else to the side.

Heroes fans are waaay too sensitive. You'd think EW went and slapped their mothers as opposed to just giving some constructive criticism about a TV show.

I think there is some justified criticism for the pace of this season. That's not to say this season has been boring, because it hasn't. But last year we saw all the hero's evolution, and were left wanting more. Instead of some continuity we have to wait a while for the Four Months Ago episode. Which is fine. But I didn't expect to have to of my fave hero's, Sylar and Peter, knocked back to square one. So in regards to their particular arcs, the pace has been frustrating. But I am content to wait as long as they keep building up the new talent, like Monica and Kensei.

i agree with what he's saying but i dont think the season is a total flop. its not dvd material like season 1 was but you know it could use a shot of some steroids. beef it up go crazy but i think its finally on the right direction after this.

yeah...last year we were all gung-ho and giving the show a chance to succeed and it did...new fans jumped on the attendance on this forum was up and now...everything is snobby, and anyone with an opinion about "I think whats gonna happen is..." gets shot the f*%# down. Unity, people.

Count me as one of the fans of Heroes who agrees with the sentiment of that article. Granted, the idea that Tim Kring doesn't have a direction in mind is ludicrous; after all, Suresh introduced the very first episode of the season with regards to the Shanti virus, so logically you know that that is going to be the major crisis that will rally all the heroes, and that all the storylines that are happening right now are somehow going to tie into that plot. However, I agree that it's been slow going getting to the point in comparison the last season. Chalk it up to a combination of viewer impatience (which is common place in our media saturated culture of immediate gratification), lackluster characters (yes I'm referring to the shady West and the Latino Wonder Twins in particular), and a sense of deja vu (a lot of elements are repeating themselves this season, such as Peter trying to gain control of his abilities, Issac's paintings, and the preventing a future from taking place).

Thankfully, "Volume 2" is only comprising half of this season, so I'm sure the idea that it's treading familiar "Season 1" ground is intentional until "Volume 3" happens later this season, which I hope will throw us a curve ball, especially if rumors are true that
The Shanti virus breaks out in Odessa, Texas and the town has to be quarantined and that Peter to prevent this from happening has failed. Then you'd have a situation in which all the diverse storylines involve trying to control the outbreak and finding a cure. (Hopefully, will get a storyline where maybe Peter and Hiro go back in time to India and meet Mohindir's father before Mohindir was born and Shanti was alive, since Mohinidir's dad was the one who found the cure for the Shanti virus in the first place. And in the process encounter younger versions of their fathers, younger versions of the group of twelve, and Kensei as Adam Monroe. That would be a time travel story that wouldn't suck if done right, IMO)

Indeed.

As crap has become more accessible people loose perspective and start acting like junkies in a need for a fix, wanting more and more and truly giving meaning to the word "consumer".

It's a sellers market. People want and take whatever they're given. Sure, they might grumble about it, but it won't stop them from gobbling up whatever the powers that be might shove into their general direction.

Something might taste good on the way down, but it's usually forgotten with the next bite of bitterness.

I'm not a cynic. I'm a part-time realist.

In response to your spoiler theory, I don't think they have to worry about the Shanti virus. Grant it, I could be wrong, but I think they have control over the Shanti virus now through Suresh and his blood. What they (Bob and the Company) are worried about is the Shanti virus evolving into a new strain that effects everyone, and not just "heros". That is why Bob is using those with powers as guinea pigs to see how the Shanti virus can change into a new strain. Who knows. I still think the Wonder Twins' abilities will play a role in the virus that effects everyone, but instead of them being the cause, maybe they hold the cure. All in all, the virus is flat out confusing.

Problem is, Mohindir only has so much blood that contain the anti-bodies, and it's implied that his "cure" is not a foolproof one. As you said, the fear is that the virus could mutate to effect normal humans, and if that's the case, then it would potentially be even more dangerous to those with abilities. I'm betting that Mohindir [blackout]will make the startling discovery that his anti-bodies are no longer working on the virus, which means they'll have to find out what his father's real cure was.[/blackout] Perhaps it will be established that [blackout]Claire's regenerative properties can heal others via blood transfusions and, believing she could hold the cure for the virus, she becomes a target for the Company.[/blackout] I'm also betting that [blackout]it was the Company themselves that have engineered this virus from samples taken from Shanti herself.[/blackout] And I agree that the Latino Wonder Twins are connected with it as well. I suspect will learn that they [blackout]were actually an experiment the Company did in combining the virus with people with abilities. Thus, Maya will potentially become a lab-rat (since Alejandro will be dead by that point, most likely by Sylar) in that somehow she has been able to control the virus within her own body, and Mohindir will try to create a vaccine derived from her own powers.[/blackout]
