Chapter 9: "CAUTIONARY TALES" Discussion 11/19/07

Hell Yes!!!

I knew - I KNEW they were gonna give him the blood. I started to babble about it to my mother on the commercial. I was like, 'wait, they can give him Claire's blood, and Elle can burn some rocks and make it look like it is his ashes from her frying him (noting the screencap of the urn), and they can kidnap him and give him the blood and and...' And she said I needed to let it go, that he was dead...

And I feel so vindicated.

Ha...i did the same thing with my GF. Only i told her that half way through when bob took claires blood that mohinder wil shoot him but then will save him with claire's blood. And she told me to stop reading comics...which I just replied start reading comics....

But i think that this whole thing might have been planned by HRG. Him and Mohinder in cahouts....

Why do so many people misinterpret that line? He wasn't telling her that her memory had been erased. He was telling her that Bob encouraged the use of her powers knowing it messes up her brain (as clearly shown by her psychological troubles).

No her psychoogical troubles have nothing to do with her powers frying her brain. Last episode when she gave Peter her little speech about her childhood it was pretty evident why she is so messed up.

I guess then again her powers can work like electro shock therapy which has memory loss as a side effect but at the same time treats schizophrenia and other such metal disorders which she still obviously suffers from.

What i want to know is, how are they gonna pull off Claire not aging? That is basically what they alluded to in this episode, right?
Oh and I know this is late but awesome Episode. HRG aka John Locke 2.0 ftw. And Peter vs. Hiro next week will be sweet, as well as Claire vs Elle. I'm stoked.

Angela did say "after awhile he didnt age anymore"....

So i guess she's still grow in to adulthood and then stop aging

Peter got his memories back, so maybe its just that he Haitian blocks them and doesn't really remove them, or the writers just F* up.

Maybe he can do both

no it's simpe
they were removed but since peter can heal, his brain healed to regan those memories.

But what happens in a couple seasons when they need a shock and bring back DL or Linderman? It opens the door for all kinds of lazy writing. There is really no real risk to any character anymore as Claire can just ressurect them.

In the world of comics, which at the end of the day, this show is a living comic, ppl have a tendency to never stay dead. As long as it can be explained properly i dont have an issue with ppl comming back

jpc4 raises an excellent point... he so should've had her in water or some how subdued... it was silly not to preempt that

Or has Elle turned?
She could of probably killed West instead she gave him a little zap, and HGR only shot her in the Arm and why would he explain the plan to WEST openly in front of Elle

No, he clearly told her that her memory had been erased. She knew she'd been kept in that facility her whole life, but she wasn't aware she was being basically tortured. She said that she didn't believe him because her dad wouldn't let that happen, which is when he told her that he was behind it.

Her crazyness probably has a lot of factors. Being kept from a normal life, being tortured, having her mind wiped, and being raised as a killer probably all contributed.

I said it last night, and your argument brings up the point again:

Elle is the Eddie Brock to Claire's Peter Parker.

If Brock had Aunt May and Uncle Ben, he would've turned out fine. Same for Elle. If Noah was her father, she would've turned out like Claire. It's the perfect villain - one who is a mirror of the hero, differing only in background and opportunities.

I don't know how many times this is to be said. Eddie Brock is not, nor has he even been the anti-Peter Parker

Yeah, physical maturation does not equal aging.

I wonder how important the Victoria Pratt? woman will play in the season.

Well the actress signed for a 3 story arc.

That thought had crossed my mind early too, that Noah would be brought back from the dead. I am just glad he's not gone for good. :)

I wonder if Victoria Pratt is the one responsible for the freak FL snowstorm they had refferenced a few episodes ago. They had to bring it up for a reason.

And was anybody else pissed that Angela didn't use her powers (whatever they are) on Matt to stop him from reading her mind?

Then again, I guess I'm more pissed Kaito didn't use his powers to stop Adam, but oh well.

Do we even know what Kaito's powers actually are?

Did you happen to watch Spider-Man 3 ?????

Did you? One of the reasons it sucked was because they tried that exact was same thing with Eddie. You people need to break out of the 90's mold.

Yeah. That was too obvious.

Is Monica anywhere in this episode? i want to see more of this interesting character.

Spider-man 3 kind of sucked. That wasn't Eddie Brock. Eddie Brock isn't Peter Parker minus Aunt May and Uncle Ben. He was a stressed down on his luck luck reporter who blamed Spider-man for all his misfortunes.

I didn't see her at all, that is true. I'd like to see more of her as well. I think she wil be featured in the next one. :)

Pretty sure she is in the last 2 episodes and we can expect to see St Joan in one of them :woot:

This epsiode had the worse delivered line in the history of televison.

"Claire, the jig is up!"

West ftw. :woot: He did have some ridiculous cheesy lines though. He makes Peter look like Batman in comparison. :csad:
