From THE CHAMPIONS to THE ORDER

So, did you get his run with Waid on Legion of Superheroes there PJ?

Look, fact is, I wasn't too sold on this to begin with. And It was either this or Thor, and that's no contest in my opinion.

Frankly, this moves along faster than THOR has been. :o

You could just get both.

Oh, well, Happy Trade Waiting.

I do, actually. I've got that run and Abnett and Lanning's run with Coipel.

I know, yo broke ass aint tellin' me to spend more on comics, mister "I don't have enough money to get into Invincible three or four years ago even after everybody told me it was awesome." :o :p

I got a solid 49 books on my pull list. If I add anymore books my wallet is gonna explode. I got hookers and bookies to pay...and of course bills, food, and shelter.

Hmm...that's a tough spot to be in. I'd say just eliminate the food. You can live on the rest just fine.

Or I could assemble a crude shelter out of some of my long boxes. That's an extra $750 in my wallet a month. But then again, winters coming up. I'd hate to die like my uncle. Balls froze to the side walk, huddled over for warmth.

You pay $750 a month to sleep somewhere?

That's actually pretty good in the city for a two bedroom.

Chicago, and I sleep in the nude. Eat Breakfast in the nude too. I do pretty much everything naked. That doesn't go over too well with people you aren't sleeping with. And even then.....

Wow, $750 for a 2 bedroom is pretty good. What part of Chicago, if you don't mind me asking?

Nice. I'm looking to move to Chicago in the next few years. I like the Wicker Park and Irving Park areas.

You're never letting that go with INVINCIBLE, are you? Sheesh, and here photojones2 thinks I am paranoid about jumping on CAPTAIN AMERICA after only about 2.5 years. :p I'd have read it sooner if someone had sent me the first HC as a gift sooner, and no one offered it any sooner.

And even in an outer borough of NY like Brooklyn, you couldn't get rent for even a one bedroom apartment for under $800-$850, and THAT would probably get you a dive.

But, yeah, trade-wait it is. The fear is, there may only be two trades (or one HC) to wait on. :(

Oh, there are about a billion reasons why NYC sucks, mates. Rats and rents are merely the tips of the iceberg.

Barry Kitson's can do no wrong.

CBR posted a nice interview with Fraction about what's coming up in The Order.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=12169

Thanks for the link, it was a cool interview. Fraction & Kitson are aware of how tough a sell this book is, trying to get a hostile market that is very resistant to change, especially in the form of new franchises (and yes, before photojones2 engages in his mission in life to try to change my tastes, I am probably an example of stubborn, one-genre-pony fans (said in jest  because I am not in the mood for a debate)) and so on. I just hope sales projections weren't terribly high.

Issue #3 sold at #66 of the Top 100. That is near where Fraction's IMMORTAL IRON FIST sells (and it outsold the Annual), but IIF has been holding steady for the past 3-5 issues at some 33-34k a pop, while THE ORDER is slipping from a very solid debut. It debuted with 57k sales but the second issue dropped 30% from that to 40k.

I for one, though, hope THE ORDER gets AT LEAST "an entire year's worth of stories". But I have seen the episodic influence and it seems to be working, at least for the first 6 issues needed to introduce everyone.

Still, the realist in me says it may take a miracle for this book to live past #12. But I'll enjoy the ride nevertheless. Hopefully it can manage to get steady sales and hang tough in the Top 95-100, which seems to be the litmus scale for ongoing launches.

My mission in life is to enjoy it. Pointing out your lack of variety when I'm supposed to be working is one of those things that brings enjoyment to me.

On topic, The Order will at least get a year. Marvel will give Kitson the benefit of the doubt, for sure.

Fair enough.

Most titles granted ongoing status seem to get 12 issues by obligation; even BLADE lasted 12 issues. I'd like to hold onto the pipe dream that it can last longer, at least until we see how issue #4 sells.

How often do you see brand new characters at Marvel, drawn so well, with a compelling story that still sticks to superhero fundamentals? Hop on it, people, otherwise you'll answer the question of why Wolverine and Spider-Man guest so much. :p

I would say the same thing about The Umbrella Academy. It's probable the best superhero book that I'm currently reading. Beautifully drawn, with a fresh story and intriguing characters. Hop on it.

I've heard good stuff about that. The 31st is a quiet week, I may look for the back issues.

I wouldn't recommend it to you. I said it was a superhero book, but that's a loose desription. It's more along the lines of a Victorian Gothic, psuedo-superhero, comedy, adventure book. So, it's probably not your cup of tea.
