If this was called something like Covert Ops or Special Missions Force. Stripped away all of the nostalgia. Try and view this as a normal movie. Its a bad movie just on the acting alone.

Dennis Quaid dialed in his performance. I've seen him act FAR better in other movies (The Rookie anyone?).

Christopher Eccleston is a fine actor, but when he performs as a villain. His makes them seem wimpy or what's the word .... whiny.

Channing Tatum, I don't mind him usually in a film, but this one was lackluster and all of his faults as an actor shown through in this performance.
Duke: Rex, you son of a b^%$$.
The delivery was so deadpanned that myself and almost the entire theater ... a) broke out in laughter. B) I could hear some people say it back verbatim, yet add a bit more emotion than Tatum did.

Sienna Miller, Rachal Nicols, Byunh-hun Lee, and Ray Park were fine. Especially Ray Park.

Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje, seriously he was in the movie? He had like what 10 lines total? I never really got into his character. Same goes for Breaker (Said Taghmaoui), I never really felt for his character. If he died? He died.

The best was Karolina Kurkova as Covergirl. I mean really. She never freaking spoke. The only thing she did was stand behind Hawk at the NATO meeting with MARS, hand Hawk a stat sheet for Duke and Ripcords evaluation, and then say sign these; then proceeds to get stabbed in the back via Zartan.

What I'm trying to say is there was no character development. None. No explanation about where and how GI Joe was founded. No reason as to why they exist, but to presumably stop COBRA, even though at this time they have no idea who they are.

Call it movie snob, or what have you. I tried to give this film the benefit and go into this movie with an open mind. I was like Okay this will be a new take on GI Joe; separate the comic, toyline, and cartoon from this. Its a whole new franchise. I left more depressed, because of that decision.

and yes I already reviewed this film, but I felt inclined to say something after reading BlackLantern's expulsion on Hype's typical reviews.

Here's my quick review...

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra - 5/10

Wow, this film was so bad...it was actually kind of fun and brought the inner child out of me, in some ways. The visual effects, from the CGI to the explosions, are so ridiculously bad and lame that you can laugh at that them with the person next to you and actually have a good time. The acting in this film is...I'll just say that Ray Park, who plays Snake Eyes, gives the best performance, but Joseph Gordon Levitt is fun, too, even if he's cheesy...but it's G.I. Joe -- that's pretty much what we expect. The plot isn't anything new, of course, but keeps the action going and actually has a somewhat decent cliffhanger ending, sadly though, the rest of the film is a bore. In the end, the film feels cheap, from the awful CGI to the poor set-pieces held the action and other scenes back from ultimately bringing the inner child out of me. It's fun, but in a so-bad-it's-good way.

This I agree with 100%. Cept its a 6 for me. Oh and....

...coming from the guy who liked Wolverine

Hell yes. Win.

Yeah its bad. Laughably bad really.

I loved the whole Star Wars feel near the end of the movie. Great. Pulse Cannon = Death Star like someone else said. Duke and Baron-Ness flying out of a ice cave = Millenium Falcon flying out of the Death Star.

Storm Shadow and Snakes Eyes fight = Luke Skywalker vs Darth Vader from Empire Strikes back.

So, Cobra knows where the Joe lair is now ... kinda defeats the purpose of having the Pit underground ... eh?

^Thanks, CelticPredator. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought that xWolverine2 was out of line. Seriously, how can anybody like Wolverine!?!:oldrazz:

how is completely ignoring my comment about the film in discussion by attempting to insult my credibility considered "win" :whatever:

Maybe because you trash a film and act like the movie critic yet you like the piece of **** that was Wolverine. :yay:

Or maybe we should accept that people have different opinions when it comes to films and both shut up. I don't know...

Yeah Wolverine was pretty bad. The first act was great. Second ... it started to fall apart. The third act ... I think they just gave up and it went to utter crap.

^Thanks, CelticPredator. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought that xWolverine2 was out of line. Seriously, how can anybody like Wolverine!?!:oldrazz:

woops i was outta line by giving valid reasons as to why this movie sucks

fanboys are just scared of harsh reviews, however true they may be.

'Marvel Presents a 20th Century Fox Production: Xmen Origins: Wolverine AKA X4 seeing as how the first 3 X-Men films were about Wolverine anyway' is a movie that really no one should like...my 15 yo cousin, who has been an Xmen fan since he was 6 hated it, he actually got angry at how bad the movie was

So, what everyone is saying is ... If you like a bad movie. Hate a good movie. Your opinion is invalid?

What if you hate a bad movie, but like a bad movie? Shouldn't that also make your opinion invalid?

I'm a fanboy?

Dude, I gave the film a 5/10. You're acting like a film snob so now I'm acting like a film snob. Also, the only reason I've seen is "plain and simple".

its mostly relative...I have a list of films that I hate in my head, and if I meet anyone that makes mention of liking those films, I probably wont take their opinion of what a good movie is seriously...

^ That. But some people love a bad movie, and know its a bad movie.....so I dont know where that stands.

I'm a fanboy?

i wasnt acting like anything..
i gave my reasons as to why the movie was awful only to be replied by pointless arguments like "wolverine sucked"...

im sure you like some bad movies too.. that doesnt change anything.

how bout giving some reasons as to why im wrong and not some half-witted childish attempts to insult my credibility.

You arent wrong. Just the way you're presenting yourself is a bit over the top.

Wolverine, Terminator Salvation, now GI Joe. Talk about disappointments.

See, if this makes some bank, you know a sequel will be in the wings. This was about Cobra's formation, basically. I want it to do well so we get to see JGL chew it up as CC. He's in the same league as Ledger was, so if anything sucks, it's due to the script.

i wasnt acting like anything..

Actually, in you ridiculously quick review, you came off as a stereotyped Twilight fan(Twitard?). "OMG this was terriibbbbllllllleee"

Also, I agree with CelticPredator. A bit too extreme.

"This movie sucks, plain and simple."

Not acting like anything, my ass

i gave my reasons as to why the movie was awful only to be replied by pointless arguments like "wolverine sucked"...

"I joke, I Joke; I keed, I keed!"

im sure you like some bad movies too.. that doesnt change anything.

Of course, I do, but not something like Wolver -- woops, there I go again.

how bout giving some reasons as to why im wrong and not some half-witted childish attempts to insult my credibility.

Is this a bad film? Sure, but for me and a good amount of others, in the end, we had a good time. It's a cheesy film based off of a cheesy comic and cartoon.

Wolverine, Terminator Salvation, now GI Joe. Talk about disappointments.

but there were still
Drag Me To Hell
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Star Trek (although i didnt like it everyone did)
Up

and coming up is District 9(currently at 100%), and inglourous basterds if your into tarantino flicks.

Not a harry potter fan whatsoever.

Star Trek and Drag Me I have yet to see.

District 9 is probably what ill go see next. Hopefully that doesnt disappoint.
