Yup. Bomer for Batman. Majik knows exactly which argument. The only reasons people seem to give against it is "people will bring up batman and robin." Etc. I have yet to see a valid argument against it. Mainly because there isn't one! Lol

I think he's a horrible choice for Bruce..... But not because he's gay. He's just too pretty. He's more of a nightwing than a Bruce Wayne any day.

Its stupid people jump on him being gay as an excuse but he's a bad choice for Bruce none the less... He'd make a better Clark Kent than a Bruce to be honest. Not to mention.... He already looks too much like Jim anyway

It's the Bomer as Batman homophobia bs again over in the JL boards.

I'm not trying to be DC vs Marvel, but I tend to find the DC forums a lout more on the homophobic and racist undertone than I ever did with the Marvel boards.

Ive noticed that too many batman fans (mostly nolantites) fall under that cookie cutter *****ey guy type that would have sex with their xbox if they could while downing four loco and gatorade and dreaming about beer pong

Hey. :csad:

i did not say or imply "all" being a fan of the nolan films also doesn't make you a nolanite (praising him as god does) ;)

No, I know... I love the Nolan films (except some parts of TDKR) but I'm a Batman-ite, not a Nolan-ite.

Boys are those guys going to kick up a storm when the reboot gets going.

This is kind of relevant and it's a disheartening story.

When I was with Warner Bros., the casting offices for MOS were right across the way and there was one actor who everyone loved for the role. And they kept on talking about how he gave an excellent audition. Then they started to back and in the end they said that no one would be able to accept an openly gay actor playing Superman.

It was just a really devastating thing to hear, that in this day and age the only thing that kept them from considering was the fact that he was gay. It just, it shouldn't be or work that way at all. It should be equal opportunity. But, just thought I'd share since it's a story that really relates here.

Also unsure who that actor was. Some say Bomer was possibly up for the role of Superman? So it might have been him. But, I wasn't able to hear any names so I'm unsure who they were talking about.

Going by what some mods/posters on here who supposedly had "sources", odds are that convo was about Cavill.

I'd strangely got that vibe myself... but then he's not openly out, if the convo was infact about him.

It's possible that people 'around town' know if he is and just didn't tell people. There's a really huge action star right now in a film this summer who is gay, I won't say who it is, but evidently everyone in Hollywood "knows" (according to a VP) but word never gets out on him. So it's possible that they were able to keep it from getting out (which is still disheartening this day and age). And I didn't know there were those rumors about Cavill...

ADDING: Looking online, yeah it is actually possible that they could have been talking about him.

Odd... I don't know whom of which you speak, and after living in LA for such awhile, i'm usually good at being in the know of this type of stuff

I think we should all be very cautious with generalizing an entire group of fans.

When it comes to Matthew Bomer specifically, I think he would be a horrible choice for Batman. Not because he's gay, but because he just doesn't seem to fit that role at all. He'd be more appropriate for Nightwing.

I think more modding needs to happen at the JL boards regarding sexuality of actors.

"Horrible" is a huge stretch. Bomer is an awesome actor. Horrible would be like, Jim Parsons or something. Plus, Bruce is a pretty boy. It's probably because no one has really seen him in a "dark" role, but he's an actor, I'm sure he could play the dark part well. BUT, this isn't about that anyway.

I need to know what these gay talks about Cavill are, please and thank you :o

This is really the fullest extent I was able to find.

Out of everything there, this is the thing that caught my attention that it's possible --

"Henry Cavill was on with Graham Norton and chatting away, and Norton asked if he preferred men or women and Cavill laughed and said he wasn't going to say if men were better in the sack than women."

It is a rather interesting way to answer the question.

I think you need to stop throwing "homophobic" around when people are obviously discussing the studio mindsets and not even saying anything homophobic.

Someone saying they don't think the studio would go with Bomer because he's gay isn't being "homophobic".

...the thing I don't get is that some people suggest said actor in another role. Is it just because they don't want Batman to be played by a gay character? I am confused :p

I personally would never be able to buy Bomer in such a dark role. His smile, his baby blues, he just looks like a flat out nice guy. He doesn't give off a dark brooding vibe what so ever. Superman, Flash, aquaman, maybe even hawkman, hank pym , doctor strange, and even green lantern i could see him in. I just don't buy him as batman

Excuse me, I don't go around throwing the word homophobic lightly, especially considering lately is the only time I've publicly called it out instead of keeping it quiet.
And I've experienced plenty of homophobia on this forum, publicly and privately, to feel entitled to point it out when the discussion of the possible mindset of the studios is annoying to even those who aren't homosexual.

And for lots of warnings and temporary/permanent bans on small, trivial things, I wasn't aware that finding underlying homophobic posts offensive means I'm throwing the term around like nothing. :whatever:

...anyone who knows me knows of my love for Matt Bomer, but I just cannot see him in that role. He is beyond gorgeous and a very talented actor, but I just cannot see him as Batman.

Hey gang, long time no talk. So... after the swell of emotion yesterday, I finally decided to tell my dad that I am a bisexual man. It was a long and emotional conversation with alot of questions but in the end... much success. I told him that I wasnt hiding this out of shame or fear but I felt that it was my life, and now its important to be open with the people you care about. He told me that nothing changes, he still loved me, and to be careful. I'm going to tell my mom eventually but I rather wait until I see her in person. I feel like I won the lotto!

That's awesome man. The best feeling in the world is finding people who love you for every ounce of you . Very happy for ya

I can't see Bomer as Batman either. Or Superman for that matter.

Thanks Spidey. Ive been debating about having that conversation since I was 18, for almost 7 years. It been discussed many times in therapy and in my head. When it happened, there was a pit in my stomach, and my heart was racing, hoping that it wasnt the last time that I saw or spoke to him. In the end... words cant describe the feeling I had.

And when I say thank you, I mean it. The people that post and show pieces of their lives on this thread helped me out alot, even if you didnt realize it, and even when I didnt post, I was always keeping up with things here. I always knew that there was nothing wrong with being apart of the GLBT, but now I realized that public knowledge is power and its a beautiful thing.
