BvS Gal Gadot IS Wonder Woman! - - - Part 12

Cavill did what he was supposed to do. He made the most out of what he was given. He was able to convey emotions through facial expressions. I expect the same this time around from him and the rest. If the writing gives them more to "make the most out of," we'll have some fantastic performances. Of course, if Gal only has a small role, I'll judge it differently than I would Affleck and Cavill.

^ I do indeed have my own standards and I see no reason for them not to strive to be better than what is "the norm." The norm is safe and boring.

Also, Heath was nominated. While he was nominated for acting, it certainly helped that the Joker was very well written. That's the kind of stuff I want more of. Bring it, BvsS!

As much as I think Nolan tends to build a plot and characters around a theme (which I personally believe isn't the best approach), Joker benefited from that treatment as being a walking embodiment of fear and chaos. This sense of focus allowed him to get the best lines and have the most impact, though Heath's acting made it even better.

I think we could have a great screenplay if the writer thought deeply about who the characters are and how they think and interact, and came up with events that demonstrated a sense of character, with Clark/Superman being the uniting thread.

If Terrio allows himself to be acquainted with the source, I think he can create a witty realization of the classic banter between heroes.

The more I watch MOS, the more I think that Batman Begins would be the bomb if Snyder took over the second half (where Batman is fighting against a conspiracy against Gotham).

Not that Batman Begins isn't really good :)

Olga is another model turned actress and has about the same physical frame as Gal. I like her, but let's all remember she also tested for this role, and Gal won over her. There is no point in bringing up different actresses.

You know, there is an actress on Game of Thrones who was once a porn star. Turns out, she's not too bad at acting. Is she awards-worthy it? Maybe not. But she's believable.

Moral of the story, don't be quick to condemn someone outright based on their prior profession.

Besides, acting talent is just half the battle. It falls upon the director to get the best out of his cast. Snyder chose to pick an actress with an admittedly limited filmography. If Wonder Woman disappoints, I would hardly be quick to put all the blame at Gadot's feet (unlike the sexist pigs over at IMDb).

She's been signed on for a few other films coming up, including one from John Hillcoat. Snyder and the F&F directors aren't the only ones who think she has some talent.

Kurylenko is 1 or 2 inches shorter and 5-10 lbs heavier.

Who is she? I don't watch Game, just curious.

Oh, totally. I didn't really have a top choice, but the one I liked most prior to this casting was Emily Blunt.
And of the short list, I too would have chosen Olga(I think she has a terrific look for the character. Maybe even a little more than Gadot and she's a decent enough actress). But hey, we got Gadot. Hopefully she's good.
Each one each taste. But IMO Gal's far prettier than Olga. Olga would be also a good choice though.

That's great, but I wasn't comparing the two's looks and nor do I think you or anyone should. I'm a little tired of always seeing these, ''Which actress is hotter?'' debates.

I was actually a proponent of Olga before I heard Gal speak. She has such a very strong yet delicate way of communicating that I think is perfect for WW. Olga would have been great too but I don't think she has that grace about her that Gal does. Olga has more of a villianess look and attitude about her.

Gadot is pretty much in the same position as Gale was with JLM to me. Not much work to "prove" how good they are, but they did something to make their respective directors feel they worked best as the character and would gel with the other actors and won the role.

I just keep hammering that point home for a reason. I'm not saying that Gal absolutely won't suck but I doubt WB would let Snyder cast Gadot without an audition. Some people keep insinuating that she was only hired for her looks and I don't believe that for a second. This movie is going to cost over 200 million dollars and WB wants it to be good and be more well received by critics and filmgoers than the last film, you think they wouldn't care who Snyder and the casting directors picked for Wonder Woman?

Now WB and Snyder could be dead wrong but it's safe to assume that they chose Gadot because they believed that she could do a good job. Gadot is too much of a nobody in Hollywood to win an iconic major role on a whim.

Agreed. I don't see how Snyder/WB would make such a big blunder as to cast someone who can't act as the iconic Wonder Woman. It wouldn't make sense at all. That leads me to believe that Gal must have just owned her audition smashing all expectations. For such an unknown to get this role she must be special. I think she'll be awesome.

Olga seems sweet (she's very glowing on Twitter) but there is an underlying sullenness about her. I think Gal has that authoritative but graceful quality about her.

I really think that the challenge would be pulling off a sense of toughness, but if she can do that, she can nail the character within the context of the smaller role. She really just has to play herself for the "nice" scenes of the character :)

I'm not really sure what Gal is trying to achieve with all the sex-face selfies. Isn't that a bit 2012?

I'm pretty sure the duck face is still popular and that was like back during the Myspace days?

I wish the word "selfie" would just go away. I think I hear it 50 times a day.

Don't come to Sweden jojo, you wont be able to handle all the ugly women...

Enough joking around, let's get this thread back on track. Here's more beauty:

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with a couple other folks and say I'm done with the silly faces in photos. I guess she's trying to be sexy? Or goofy? Or both? Either way, she does it too much. She's 28, married and has a kid. There's no need for this tweeny stuff. She looks great when she just smiles.

All these "sexy face" selfies come off like this:

I'm just going to say that they need to hurry and release those damn suit pics so we can stop fighting over every little stupid thing.

We will then move onto who gets the most screen time and better lines :D
