Probably so. GRRM might spin it so that [blackout]no one in power or among the common folk cares that Jon is a Targaryen. In the end it doesn't really mean anything.[/blackout]

A film adaption of the series isn't likely to happen. George has talked about how he's had to turn away truckloads of cash because the treatments he saw weren't up to par. It would be impossible to do as great an adaption as what's being done on television (despite some small changes here and there). A good movie, yes, but probably a lackluster adaption.

welp, peter jackson is done with the hobbit series, and is unlikely to make the silmarillion, since tolkien's family is not having that, having been screwed over by wb, so perhaps he'd like to tackle a bob's rebellion film or the blackfyre rebellions. HBO is owned by warners, and warner wants to make a king arthur epic, so why not?

Welp, I better get working on that Ramsay/Theon slashfic then.

50 Shades of Flay.

Sean Bean was on the Nerdist podcast last week. Mostly talked about his life and new show but had some GoT stuff in there too

So since my laptop is dead and in the time it took to get another one I spent a few weeks reading the books and I'm all caught up. I love what they do with Arya and I figured that was the plan since she got that coin.

GRRM better not kill Wun Wun as I love that guy.

What did you think of the Greyjoy brothers? I freaking loved Euron and think he could make an excellent successor to Tywin's role in the show.

When I told all my friends about Wun Wun they found it hilarious and are desperately hoping he'll make it into the show :oldrazz:

I'm not crazy about the whole greyjoy group in the books. I find the whole thing kinda meh. Eurons not bad though, he's a decent enough character.

I always thought the Martells were a let down. Or rather, the Sand Snakes were a let down. Arianne and Doran had some form of characterization and struggles, whereas Oberyn's daughters are all pretty shallow beyond the whole "Dangerous and Sexy" schtick GRRM gave their father.

Darkstar is the next Tywin though :o

Having recently finished AFFC myself, I have to echo these feelings. Not really that impressed with Euron so far - he talks the talk and he's as ambitious as they come, but I'm curious if he can back up that ambition with concrete results. Victarion is entertaining in how air-headed he is, but I did really enjoy the chapter where he's fighting that battle and against the young knight (can't recall his name right now). The prospect of a duel between him and Randyll Tarly had me foaming at my mouth. The Damphair is basically a ginormous fanatic, but I did enjoy the insight he provided into the inner-workings of the Ironmen. Really, I think I liked Asha the best and think she would have made a swell queen, albeit not necessarily in line with what the Ironborn are used to. But that would've been the point - I think she could've been the one to actually take them forward.

I am curious to see how Euron's and Victarion's plots unfold, though, as well as whether or not Asha will make any other significant moves as well.

I haven't got that far yet but from the way I'd heard others talk here and elsewhere I thought Euron and especially Victarion were pretty major characters. Or were they just cool guys with character but not actually that important to the plot? I never thought I'd hear that they might not be appearing in the show.

Euron [blackout]has Pyat Pree and the warlocks of Qarth as his slaves, he wants to conquer all of Westeros, sets out to destroy Oldtown and much of the Reach, schemes to steal to Dany's dragons for himself and take her on as a sex slave/bride, and is hinted in the prophecies throughout the novels as being near Satanic and the single greatest threat to Dany.[/blackout]

Victarion [blackout]invades the entire south-western coast of Westeros along the Shield Isles, and afterwards takes the Iron Fleet of 100 or so ships across the Narrow Sea to find Dany, marry her, and thrn bind her dragons to him via a magical Valyrian horn. Along the way he finds a Red Priest who heals him and potentially makes him an undead R'hllor powered killing machine dead set on destroying Daenerys' enemies as they surround her city, as well as bringing her ships to take her and her army back to Westeros. [/blackout]
