Does anyone have an idea behind the rationale to focus almost exclusively on the Dornish plot to the extent of dropping fAegon/Connington, the Greyjoys and the impending Great Northern Cluster****... which we'll probably only get a watered down version of?
I mean, I love the stuff that goes down in Dorne, but the goings on in the Iron Islands and subsequently Victarian's weird and wonderful nautical stylings is some of the most compelling, depraved, hilarious, farcical and straight awesome stuff I've ever read. Would be cinematic as hell.
Similarly, I'd hate for the Northern storyline to lose the core of its nuance and plotting, which looks to be the case. I mean we have about a dozen different houses scheming and plotting away. I get that they'll absolutely have to condense all of this, but to what extent? Political intrigue seems reserved only for the events of King's Landing and the rest of Planetos basically gets condensed, straightforward, A-->B plots.
I get that they made the decision to prioritize some plots over the others, some characters over the others, etc. out of necessity, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any insight into the reason behind D&D's decision to focus so heavily on Dorne. Yes, the show is the show and the books are the books, yada yada yada.
And don't get me wrong, I think the show is really excellent for what it is, but sometimes, I swear, I just wanna don that ****ing impregnable Kraken helm and...
