About as fun as it was to watch mini Robin Hood put an arrow through Ygritte's chest. :o

so, it's likely we'll get the trailer next month, right?

We got the first trailer for season 4 on January 12, 2014 so it's a safe bet that we get a trailer next month.

I always look forward to hearing which song they use in the trailer almost as much as I look forward to seeing new footage.

What month do the new seasons usually start?

Premiere dates of previous seasons:

Season 2 - April 1, 2012
Season 3 - March 31, 2013
Season 4 - April 6, 2014

Great, thanks.

They have a formula: "edgy chick song", rinse repeat.

For the season premiering before any of the others, I seem to recall the S3 trailer coming out pretty late. I thought it was, like, late February/early March.

Yeah, season 3's first trailer was late. There was a 50 second teaser on February 24, 2013. Then we got the first full trailer on March 2, 2013. I remember I was pretty perturbed that they waited so late. Not sure if it was production issues or what, but I think that's the only season that's happened with. Hopefully it won't happen with season 5.

Got the World of Ice and Fire book today. Loving it.

Last season we had "All Men Must Die" with the three-eyed crow and a literal storm of swords falling from the crow. Guesses as to this season's logo and tagline?

Tagline "The Mummer's Face is Over" / "The Farce is Over" is the best I've got. The promo image is trickier...direwolf and three-headed dragon? I had envisioned something like a fourway:

Baratheon Flaming Heart Stag vs Bolton Flayed Man vs Ironborn Kraken vs Targaryen Dragon...though this doesn't quite work with this season's cast.

the Logo will be a womans eye, bloodied with cuts around it... with the reflection of a kraken being hung... with they tagline "Yes, we said 'f*** the book readers.' trolololol"

They won't use Mummer's Farce, because it's a little too specific for casual viewers to get, also, the Manderlys have been cut.

Does anyone have an idea behind the rationale to focus almost exclusively on the Dornish plot to the extent of dropping fAegon/Connington, the Greyjoys and the impending Great Northern Cluster****... which we'll probably only get a watered down version of?

I mean, I love the stuff that goes down in Dorne, but the goings on in the Iron Islands and subsequently Victarian's weird and wonderful nautical stylings is some of the most compelling, depraved, hilarious, farcical and straight awesome stuff I've ever read. Would be cinematic as hell.

Similarly, I'd hate for the Northern storyline to lose the core of its nuance and plotting, which looks to be the case. I mean we have about a dozen different houses scheming and plotting away. I get that they'll absolutely have to condense all of this, but to what extent? Political intrigue seems reserved only for the events of King's Landing and the rest of Planetos basically gets condensed, straightforward, A-->B plots.

I get that they made the decision to prioritize some plots over the others, some characters over the others, etc. out of necessity, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any insight into the reason behind D&D's decision to focus so heavily on Dorne. Yes, the show is the show and the books are the books, yada yada yada.

And don't get me wrong, I think the show is really excellent for what it is, but sometimes, I swear, I just wanna don that ****ing impregnable Kraken helm and...

D and D said they're giving Stannis more screentime, and we've got a role called Winterfell Worker whose actress could pass for Arya...so the politics will be there, just a bit more streamlined. We're still getting the sparrows (my only real draw to the King's Landing plot), and there's a fan theory that Doran is running a massive game behind everyone' backs...seems that D and D believe this is more important to the endgame. It also lets them take advantage of Oberyn's popularity with the unsullied.
