:lmao: :lmao: Ah! My beloved nemesis! It's been too long! But, no, they're cutting stuff out because they want to end this thing by season 7 and not have Bran,Rickon,Arya and Sansa all be in their 20s by the time it ends. They've always maintained this. You may not like AFFC/ADWD but you aren't the vast majority, and you're certainly not D&D. (Thought if you were, that might explain why you admire the stupid filler episodes throughout last season :p )

And on that other note, they haven't even finished Jon's ASOS material, and from what we know, they're dragging their feet with that storyline for most of this coming season as well, with Stannis and co still at the Wall for the majority of the season. So, I don't think it's safe to assume they're just zooming ahead. If they did then they'd have kept Bran around for another year and gone straight into whatever their equivalent of WoW is.

If you are one of the D's, please don't let the other D have Stannis set up wildling reeducation camps where the noncompliant get burned at the stake.

Can't say I'm surprised about Stannis. I said it months ago that they wouldn't have Stannis leave the Wall and march for Winterfell immediately after arriving at the Wall. Now that it's confirmed that Tyrion will be at Mereen this season and the Pits scene is happening this season I'm almost 100% positive that the siege of Mereen will be the big battle this season. Winterfell will be next season's big battle. Maybe. I'm still not convinced that it will be a significant battle. If someone opens the gates for Stannis then it won't be a battle so much as a slaughter and that could be handled in minutes. Stannis's army charges in cut to dead lying everywhere with Stannis standing over Roose who's kneeling on the ground stannis pulls out his sword and chops his head off. Simple clean and it doesn't eat up an entire episode and a chunk of the budget.

The big question for me is, Major Spoiler
does Jon get "Et Tu Brutus'ed" this season or next?

I think it would be best
to have that happen in episode nine, with his healing/resurrection in episode ten. Because set pics would inevitably leak that spoil Jon's surviving.

Where did you guys read about Stannis being stuck at the Wall, rather than launching his campaign?

I haven't read that it's just what I think will happen, but apparently others have heard that that's in fact what happens with him this season. Who knows really? Could just be a BS rumor. If it's true tho, I think Stannis will leave the Wall at some point after episode 5. Probably episode 8 or 9 and we won't see him for the rest of the season. The first time we see him in season 6 will be the aftermath of some battle or his army bogged down in snow and struggling to not freeze to death before they get to Winterfell.

If so, its interesting that D an D are creating their own filler, when they presumably decided to condense AFFC/ADWD to trim filler.

I remember them saying something such as the ending would be pretty much George's ending but they would get to that ending by their own path. At this point I don't think we can really call it filler so much as D&D's own path. I expect a lot of changes from here on out. Like a ridiculous amount of changes.

A mixture of comments made by the Dragonstone co and set pics of Dillane with Kit.

As fas as the ending, I'm expecting it to be like Akira the movie vs Akira the manga.

Your nemesis is truth. :oldrazz:

If what you said was true, there is no way they would have spent nearly 2 years on ASOS. If they really like the material, they make room for it. There is a reason they started changing their adaptation style once they got to these books.

And I don't have to be the majority. The idea that many do not have a problem with AFFC is just ignoring reality. ADWD was more well received, but not nearly as well as the first three books. And there is no wonder. Those two books are one large bridge novel full of filler.

When it comes to Jon, I have my theory for why they are handling it the way they are. And I think it has everything to do with him being the overall "hero" of the tale.

I think the "end state" will be the same. All the major characters who should be alive, will be alive in the "right place".

They've been changing stuff pretty much from season 2 onwards, and with each season they change it a little more, so really it's no wonder that we've gotten to a point of divergence. In truth we crossed that last year with the Night's King. It's why we got virtually nothing from the House of the Undying; they've been playing fast and loose with whole sections of the series from the get-go because they need this whole thing done quickly and without any heavy mythology to confuse the GA (the same lot who for whatever reason insist Daenerys real name is Khaleesi...)

I'm not saying AFFC or ADWD were beloved by the masses, but they weren't universally reviled either. The fan base is divided over them more than anything, and In fact, if you watch the GoT season 1 commentary with Benioff and Weiss, they make note that they were pleased with ADWD, particularly the Essos elements (god knows why). So it's not just a simple matter of them dismissing the books. There's a bigger idea at work here.

Tell me your Jon theory. Personally I think the show might even ignore his true heritage (unless we get a boatload of Bloodraven induced Flashbacks in season 6) and just sort of vaguely have him be acknowledged as Azor Ahai and "The Chosen One" and leave it at that. I'd be happy to be proven wrong though.

In the first season, it felt like they really knew what they were doing with Jon. They were building him up as the new Ned, the one to pick up his mantle imo. Then it went off the rails for the next two season. I feel the problems with Jon's story in season 2 and 3 were two fold. The filming locations were nightmares allowing for only a certain amount of filming. The second season, Kit hurt himself pretty badly so that limited him as well.

But last season they are back on the other side of the Wall, and suddenly Jon's story picked up again. All the develop that should have been done in season 2 and 3 came thick and fast. The added material especially emphasized Jon's leadership abilities.

Last season I was sure the season would end with the vote, but of course it didn't. I think this is because they might be planning on booking end next season with Jon, who will take a more central role similar to Ned in the first season. It could be also why they plan on keeping Stannis there, along with potentially Davos. I don't think they emphasized that look from Mel for no reason.
That way, when the assassination attempt comes, more the audience might not only care about Jon, but will also fear the worst actually happening. After all, it will probably happen in episode 9. This could make his potential resurrection all the more powerful. The first time one of these deaths was actually taken back.

that story of Kit getting hurt is hilarious

How tall is Sophie? She almost seems to still be growing.

She's about 5'9, so fairly tall. Gwendoline Christie is about 6'2ish. And Kit is very short...like Peter Dinklage and a half.

Kit is as big as Pompeii. dont hate. M'lord

I remember reading that Sophie was between 5'8 and 5'9. But next to Christie she looks even taller then that. Perhaps it is simply the heels.

Yeah, could be the heels. I know she towers over Aiden Gillen and John Bradley in real life.

It was better than Dante's Peak

If they ever do show a rematch of the Cleganes, I wonder how they'd shoot it given that Rory is taller than Gregor's actor. Would we get Peter Jackson trickery?
