Remind me of that empire? I don't have my copy of WoIaF on hand...

They supposedly taught Valyrians certain magics, and built structures all across the known world made from an indestructible metal, such as the big wall at Volantis, the city of Asshai, and oddly enough, the Seastone chair in the Iron Islands.

Thanks. Did George go into detail about what made that Aeron chapter disturbing? I would imagine its probably people doing Lovecraftian things with deep sea critters, blood sacrifice or some such.

This song reminds me of Euron and his plot thus far in the books.

I'd be happy with a sequence of Vic doing his full-plate naval raid. To introduce the character. Or they could go old school S and S and just have him show up as a rugged barbarian type character with his red priest "sorcerer" buddy Moqorro.

Same here.

More Girona filming; Arya being chased by a knife-wielding Waif. Neither Maise nor her stunt double had contacts for the sequence. I'll go ahead and call it: Arya joins the theatre company to escape Braavos and the House of Black and White.

well she is going to the Riverlands this year so sounds about right lol

He didnt go into detail, because the audience at the time wanted to see what was going on with Arianne and the Golden Company. But I'd say you're not far off the mark.

Which also reminds me, we've had the Golden Company mentioned in this show before, back in season 4, with Davos mentioning them and Dany recalling that Jorah served amongst them in his years following his exile from Westeros. I wonder if anything will come of that.

I had presumed that they were deserters mentioned at the beginning of episode ten, right before they found Selyse's suicide.

Initially I was not expecting Aegon Targaryen to appear, but since they're just now going back to tackle the ironborn plotline, who knows. It may be that they'll have the Griffs turn up in Meereen while Tyrion's filling in for Danaerys (I think its still very unlikely since Varys has stated his allegiance to Danaerys). Or perhaps the Company still have some kinda fierce loyalty to Oberyn that would let Doran make use of them in his game.

An aside, I hope we get to see Tyrion managing the Harpies, King Cleon, and the Volanteen navy from ADWD. Hell, they could easily throw Euron in there too. Last we saw, Pyat Pree had taken over Qarth and if they follow the books he should be in Euron's court.

The Company roaming the North, plus their connection to the Martells, would let D&D bring their take on the Dornish plot into the fold with the rest of the series. It felt very insular last season.

Richard E. Grant has been cast

I realized something this morning: Stonesnake's whereabouts are still unknown. The more I think about it, the more it seems he's a viable suspect in the determination of Coldhands' identity, esp. since our favorite elk rider is not
Benjen Stark.

Well, I was wrong. WotW reports that McShane is not Randyll Tarly. He is playing a character in an outlaw band.

That's a shame, to get a big actor like that and not have him play one of the book characters. I wonder who will play Randyll then, or when we'll hear about it.

The comments over there lean toward a Septon Meribald character, if not Meribald himself. It is a shame, especially of Randyll gets a big role in the show. The same article said that there's going to be an influx of Tyrell knights into King's Landing, so Randyll could be there if he's not sent to defend against the ironborn raids.

If we're getting more bandits and all, I'd rather have Thoros and Beric tbh.

McShane was perfect for Randyll Tarly. Disappointed to hear this.

Whoever McShane is playing, I hope it's not a super-small part like Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbage (can't believe I didn't have to look up how to spell that) was last season.

vicky , you really expect ian to play tarly ? come on man , i dont see him as a a-hole ... ( he has the charm to pull off that tho as a lovable smuk )

i hope he's been cast as howland. they keep throwing around that stupid little break the internet nonsense. that would break the internet. not really. but i would be very excited.

"Vicky" :lmao:

Reek is dead now. bye bye.

Howland Reed could make sense if they are shooting the Tower of Joy storyline for this season. But McShane is obviously too old to play Reed during the actual tower of joy events, so he must recount what happened to another character?
