Game of Thrones General (Non-Book Related) Discussion Thread - Part 1

most probably of course, i don't know anything

How do you come to that conclusion? She's clearly in Winterfell there. I don't think Cersei will be in the battle of Winterfell. Arya could have gotten that head wound from the dead I assume.

You're right! The only other person on the list was Jaime then...?

The head wound doesn't necessarily indicate that she killed anyone on her list. She could have gotten that head wound during the battle for Winterfell in any number of ways.

I give up then!

I honestly don’t get the meaning of No one and the faces yet. And I feel she still has to finish the list, right?

No, I don't think so. I don't think she has to finish the list. She was given the idea of making a list by that guy in Season 2, even before she got with the many faced God. And the Hound was on her list, but he got taken off of it, so I don't think there's any hard and fast rule that everyone on her list MUST die. It was more aspirational. She wanted to kill everyone on her list, but there's nothing saying it's a must happen.

That's how I take it anyway. It's a dense show, so I'm certainly open to being wrong.

I'll tell you how she get that head wound... massive spoilers

little ***** tried stealing Sandors chicken... he said "no you little *****!" and back fisted her. .........in the end... Sandor got his chicken.

Idk if its true, but I've read that...
she's running because she stole the hot sauce. Hound likes his chicken spicy.

Somewhat surprisingly, Jaime never made it on to Arya's list.

I don't think she knows he was the only who push Bran but she probably knows now it wll great is she kills Jaime for it regardless of what he does in the3 battle and she kills Cercei with that face on

According to Orange Cinema Series (French TV channels) Episode 1 is only 54 minutes and Episode 2 is only 58 minutes.

Runtimes for the first two episodes of Game of Thrones season 8, revealed

giphy.gif

Somehow I feel like those are placeholders and HBO wouldn't release that info this early. Hell, didn't they not release the runtimes for GOT season finales the past couple of years until a week before the episode aired?

they announced the other ones too lol.. not one is anywhere near 2 hours.

we should sue.

HBO isnt releasing this. TV networks are. HBO doesnt have much or any control over what info foreign networks make public. And they cant really wait until the last minute to tell these networks the runtime of each episode because the networks have to schedule and plan for other shows accordingly.

Besides, treating the runtime like a spoiler that needs to be kept a secret is asinine. Tho in this particular case I can understand why theyd want to keep the runtime a secret after they spent 2 years exaggerating about the episodes runtime.

I feel it's a legitimate thing to be annoyed about as even though they haven't explicitly spoken about it, they allowed a narrative to develop about runtime being one of the reasons they were spending longer than usual completing the season.

I mean for me personally, waiting nearly 2 years....part of what softened that wait was the expectation that we'd be getting more time to live in the world they've crafted even if it was just for an extra 20 minutes.

I never expected feature length episodes but surely they're taking the piss giving us not even an hour given the amount of time they've spent crafting the season? Or maybe the writing has simply been stretched that thin.

and lets not forget the.... 4 minute titles? and the previously on... i know its only 5ish minutes but thats still a solid hit from 2 hours... and now its basically just half of a normal season.

i mean, if its not an absolutely mindblowing season, the wait was mostly bull**** lol

Yeah the quality needs to be there in every episode. They have had long enough to plan. I won't care about the runtime in the end as long as it hasn't been wasted in any way.

Yeah, I mean if the episodes are like TNT, and they are jam packed with forward moving action... then it can be okay.

But I don't see how that'll be the case. The first episode alone is going to have to spend significant time on just reunions and stuff, so I suspect it'll be more of the same. The first three fourths of the season being a contemplation of the battle that's about to come, followed by one episode of intense action porn, followed by one episode of denouement.

I always figured the "feature length" description was an exaggeration so I'm not surprised by this news. Didn't they also use that term to describe the last two season finales and it only amounted to a few minutes more?

there is a big difference between an exaggeration and a kick in the nuts. none of these episodes should be less than 70 minutes... let alone 60.

This is still a tv show, no matter the hype it gets. HBO's only paying $15 mil per episode, and that kind of budget barely works with the current runtimes.

ONLY 15 million? BARELY works with current runtimes? previous seasons were less and went 10 episodes at similar lengths. so... well ok then lol.
