Just a random thought,,,
The more I watch the show the more I feel Conan of Cimmeria would fit perfectly in the Game of Thrones world. IMO it's closer to realizing the Hyborian Age than any other attempt to date.

Combine Ned Stark, Bronn, and Sandor Clegane into one character and I feel you have a fairly accurate Conan. Adding of course the savage panther-like physique.

Curious... Why do they recast SO many actors on this show? The most recent recast was the Night King, which I suppose isn't a big deal; the character has yet to have any dialogue and he's wearing a ton of makeup. But it's weird how often they just give actors the shaft on GoT. The Mountain, 3ER, Daario... If I was an actor on GoT, I'd be really worried about my job security,
You don't have any job security unless you're Dany or Jon. You could die at any minute.

Seasons back there was about 100,000 wildlings under Mance Rayder's rule north of the wall. I realize that many got killed storming the Wall and then killed by Stannis's troops, but how did they only end up with only 2,000 fighting men that Tormund said could help Jon Snow against the Boltons???

he's right. there is sexism against males. not much of it but it's there.

want proof? try to get a job waiting tables at Hooter's.

Thats not sexism. Hooters is a brand promoting one gimmick. Female ****. Last I checked men dont have female **** unless theyve had surgery so why would Hooters hire men to wait the tables? If they did hire men to wait tables then they would be like every other non hooters bar and that wouldnt be Hooters.

Hooters shouldnt have to hire male waiters anymore than Chippendales should have to hire female dancers and strippers. Same with any strip club. A female strip club doesnt have to hire male strippers and male strip clubs dont have to hire female strippers. And they shouldnt have to.

Hardhome was a pretty big hit...

the 100,000 were just people, not soldiers, right?

Misandry is a real thing. I even see it on the Hype from time to time.

I'm not sure there were more than 100K people at Hardhome. Since we were told so often that Mance was the only force holding the Wildlings together, I imagine they split up after Stannis burned him.

100k before the war at the wall... before Stannis... before hardhome...

and who said ALL the wildlings fled to hardhome? the people south of the wall are the ones who were saved...

I don't see the confusion.. there could be thousands still beyond the wall, or the walkers could have gotten them

A lot of times the actors aren't available during shooting. So they have to recast. Most parts on GOT are really small compared to other shows due to the amount of story lines Especially as the story has diverged more over the last few seasons. So actors take other jobs over GOT.

I think they've been lucky to get so many actors back after their characters have been absent for years.

Jack Bender says Season 7 will indeed be 7 episodes.

When asked if he'd return to direct future episodes of the series in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, frequent director Jack Bender verified that the next season of HBO's premiere show will be shortened to just 7 episodes, saying

"I don’t know the answer to that. They’re only doing seven [episodes], and they’ve got their regulars who have done it forever."

Yeah and a few months ago they said Season 8 would have only six episodes. Variety and other sources wrote:

According to Benioff and Weiss, the shorter seasons are required to spend more time on each episode and continue delivering the highly cinematic look and feel fans have grown to love. To live up to the standard they’ve set, Weiss and Benioff said they can’t continue to produce 10 episodes of the show in the show’s usual 12- or 14-month time frame. “It’s crossing out of a television schedule into more of a mid-range movie schedule,” Weiss said.

I would guess that this has much to do with post-production work and special FX due to more requisite screentime with the dragons, white walkers and wights, action from Ghost and Nymeria(?), big battles, etc. needed to wrap it all up.

Well on the bright sides I guess those remaining 13 episodes will be juggernauts.

I hope that's enough episodes to tie up all the plots they've got going.

well... in all honesty, they could have finished the series in 6 seasons had they cut out half the ******** with Qarth, Dorne, etc... I don't really get their rush all of a sudden unless they have some big **** planned (extended episodes, maybe a 2 part finale kind of like 2 movies, etc etc)

On the one hand they could have decided to only give us 10 more episodes. Thirteen episodes is better than 10. But on the other hand they could have given us 20-21 more episodes spread across 2 or 3 seasons.:argh:.

Yes it is a bit strange with the fat in earlier seasons that we get less time for the really important stuff at the end.

everybody gets turned into white walkers. the end.
see how neat and tidy all those plots can be to tie up? lol

In the beginning they were probably trying to allow GRRM time to finish the damn story. At the end of season 3 they probably decided that he wasn't going to make it so they had to go back to him and ask him what his plans were and then take that info to the writers and let them plot out an ending.

Makes sense. I don't think there's any need to rush from here on out. I want to savour all these strands coming together and all the main and side plots getting resolved one by one. Dany has to be in Westeros for more than a few episodes and the first all out attack by the White Walkers I would think needs to happen a good amount of time before the end of the show.

I don't think it was the case of them going slow to give GRRM time, I think A Storm of Swords naturally required two seasons to tell the story. It's just that GRRM only told them major storylines relating to five main characters (Jon,Tyrion, Dany, Bran, Arya) and when it became clear that they were going to surpass the novels (Season 5) they decided to do things their own way and tie up plotlines in ways they wanted as opposed to how the novels would move.

Keep in mind that D&D first conceived the show as an 80 hour story. Not in terms of season arcs and all that. We are in the final third of that 80 hour story which means we are already moving into what is essentially the climax and resolution section of the story. Think of it like an 80 hour movie. Most stories pick up pace in the final third of the story. So it makes sense things are happening more quickly and the pace is increasing. The pace we are seeing this season is only going to increase during those last 13 episodes. The time to "stop and smell the roses" is passed.
