Geeky Stuff You Just Can't Get Into

Oh, these people have absolutely betrayed geekdom. But in terms of importance, I'd rank King above my geekdom.

I'm not saying he's a terrible writer. He's a very prolific writer that has done more for modern American literature than any other writer. I just don't find his stories that interesting, at least not enough to read the books.
At least he writes his own material, unlike James Patterson, who has people ghost write for him and he edits their work.

-RPGs (video game or otherwise)
-Most action games
-Anything Joss Whedon did other than Firefly and Astonishing X-Men
-Costumes
-Electronic music
-Listening to video game music outside of the games (even the stuff that's really good)
-Collectible card games (I like playing them but I couldn't get into them extensively)

Thought of some more:

Alien movies
Predator movies
Any old horror movies, cult or otherwise
Hitchcock
Any old movies in general TBH (which film geeks seem to take REALLY seriously!)
Graphic novels/comics that aren't to do with Superheroes

I can't to find that Scott Caan meme, but that's about how I feel right now.

Hitchcock? ****ING HITCHCOCK?!?! :cmad::cmad::cmad:

Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Star Trek (aside from JJ Abrams's film), D&D, a lot of anime, WoW.

Geeky things I am into though (almost as far as obsession): Batman, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Halo, Assassin's Creed, Tekken, Prince of Persia, Smallville, Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Spider-Man, X-Men, Superman ...well pretty much anything comic related.

I really cannot stand Doctor Who. At all.
Me neither. And I tried. Don't get the hype...

Also Stargate. Never got into that at all really.
And I never really was a "gamer" so not into Halo as much though I played and like the game

See what I mean! People get so upset with me for not liking old classic movies...

But i'm SORRY. I watch Psycho, it makes me laugh. I watch The Birds, it makes me laugh. I watch Vertigo, it makes me laugh... I absolutely can't take it seriously.

I can totally see why it was loved in it's time though, if that helps.

Oh an while i'm on the subject of old 'classics', I may as well add old classic sci-fi shows to my list.

I.e. Twilight Zone, Lost in Space, Outer Limits, Six Million Dollar Man, Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, The Prisoner, Mystery Science Theatre etc etc.

Also Stargate. Never got into that at all really.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Stargate.

Seconded.

You should watch North by Northwest. That will just give you the giggle fits. :o

Stargate:The Movie was good, but the series I just can't watch.

I can understand that. Personally, I only enjoyed the seasons with Ben Browder and Claudia Black, but that's mainly because I like them. Many people dislike those seasons.

Sci-fi television like Star Trek and Doctor Who. I guess it mostly has something to do with the fact that I don't own a personal television.

I'm not really that into video games, I play them but in no way to I sit for housr play WoW or whatever the in MMORPG is these days. I can't stand Harry Potter, books or films. Books are full of awful "and then" writing and the films just fail to impress me in any way.

Don't like Star Trek apart from the new film, which I'm told, isn't very Star Trek-y. Although I am enjoying the current IDW comic series and I'm looking forward to the new movie. I just can't get into it, it's so dull.

The big one people can't get over is I hate the Nolan Batman movies. I didn't like Begins but people were like "you'll love TDK!!" and guess what? I hated it. It's a horrible mess of a film. And I have no intention on seeing TDKR. Kinda sucks since I am a Batman fan.

Do you like any classic films hopefulsuicide?

Depends on what you class as classic films I suppose, but here some 70s and older films I did like:

Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Mary Poppins
Any old Disney film
Jason and the argonauts
The Wicker Man
Any Bond film
Citizen Kane (kind of)
It's a Wonderful Life
... and I don't mind Charlie Chaplin's stuff

I think that's about it.

Even though some of those are near unwatchable to even hardcore fans?

Like what?

I can't think of any Disney films that would be unwatchable, and as for Bond, I don't own any, but if one's on TV i'll watch it, regardless of which one it is.

I just don't get the appeal of Japanese entertainment and culture. Their ancient culture is pretty interesting, I suppose, even though it's not really my main interest. I'd like to see some Japanese theatre from the medieval period some day. But the modern culture and entertainment really just doesn't interest me.

Whether it's anime, games, manga, art style, music, or anything else, I can count on maybe one hand the amount of things I actually like.

Japanese entertainment kind of prides itself on being kind of campy and kitschy these days. Very tongue in cheek even when it comes off deadly serious. Like "haha, we know how weird this is, we're in on the joke but we'll never actually SAY we're in on it."
