Geeky Stuff You Just Can't Get Into

The big one people can't get over is I hate the Nolan Batman movies. I didn't like Begins but people were like "you'll love TDK!!" and guess what? I hated it. It's a horrible mess of a film. And I have no intention on seeing TDKR. Kinda sucks since I am a Batman fan.
You're not the only one I know thinking that way
Let's watch some "The Brave and the Bold" and that 60s TV show for great Batman fun

i can watch the films, its the fans that kill any real enjoyment i could get. they are great movies but not the second coming that the nolanites make them out to be

hell i suggested the perfect casting would be keatons batman against ledgers joker as bale while a decent waye was an extremely poor and bland batman and got an anonymous e-mail from some bat fan wishing my family would die in a fire

Whedon. I liked Dr. Horrible (because of NPH and Fillion more than anything) and Avengers looks great, but other than that, not my thing.

See, I like the 60's show, it's fun. But Burton and TAS are my Batman. There hasn't been a good Batman film since Returns.

A lot of people I talk to in real life about it don't get that I hate how they did the joker. They think I hate Ledger and that I'm a terrible person for hating on a dead guy. There's nothing wrong with how he plays it, it's just not the Joker to me. Where's the insane warpped hilarity that all other Jokers had?

And Bale is just awful as Batman and Bruce. He's just terrible.

I love what I saw of the 60s show, same goes for B&TB, that's why I invited you
And yeah, B:TAS and Burton films are my Batman as well, though I'm a fan of Nolan's films more than Returns

Depends on what you class as classic films I suppose, but here some 70s and older films I did like:

Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Mary Poppins
Any old Disney film
Jason and the argonauts
The Wicker Man
Any Bond film
Citizen Kane (kind of)
It's a Wonderful Life
... and I don't mind Charlie Chaplin's stuff

I think that's about it.

i don't really see how North By Northwest is silly... while the bond films arn't lol.

though, i would recommend Rebel Without a Cause , Sunset Boulevard, and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane for at least some great acting in older films

1. I never said it was silly. I just said it made me laugh.

2. I never said the old James Bond films weren't silly.

But Bond is always a bit silly. It doesn't take itself too seriously. I mean, there are parts of Casino Royale that made me laugh :)

If it was okay to see Hitchcock as a bit of a laugh, I'd probably be able to enjoy it more.

But it's not. It's considered a serious art form, from an incredibly talented director. Which is obviously lost on me if all I get out of it is a giggle.

I'd give anything a go :)

oh and it's true some films don't hold up over time (i find the original texas chainsaw massacre ridiculously comical) but that's ok too, they can still be entertaining. some movies are great to crack open drinks with friends, and watch for there silliness of today... (i love doing that with Barberella)

I view the original "Haloween" movie that way

A lot of Hitchcock's stuff is pretty funny though, even if it is a bit dry. North by Northwest is a very tongue in cheek and even Psycho is all about Hitchcock manipulating the viewing audience. Upon its initial release Psycho was not meant with the universal phrase it has today and most critics dismissed in the same way someone would a Saw movie today. The "Auteur" Hitchcock only came about very late into his career and after his death. Hitchcock saw himself as a director of pop corn movies, nothing else.

And even if you don't like his films, you have to admire his craft. Every one of his movies is beautifully shot and he controls the camera like none other.

Totally. I can see what it is people praise him for.

I just a totally personal thing. I find the acting bad, the dialogue corny and any attempt at creating tension usually fails so badly it makes me laugh. But that has a lot to do with the fact I just never watched a lot of old movies when I was younger, and the style of acting and dialogue and everything was just so different back then that it's hard to get into now.

RuneScape

D&D

Star Trek(Not the new movie)

Card games like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.

BattleStar Galactica

Stargate

Firefly

Anime

Doctor Who

There's really so much to name... it's overwhelming so I'll stop there.

Not a program but something that isn't nescessarily something I like to much therfore can't get into is ANY role playing game especially live action ones.

Movies starring Will Farrel or Steve Martin, except for a select few

Today's anime. The old animes are great e.i. Ruruoni Kenshin, Trigun, etc.

Warhammer

You know, I could never get into that for the longest time, then a few months ago I had a battle with a mate at our local shop and I was fantastic. Epic music playing, elves vs gobilns, surrounded by books with Dan Abnett's name on them...

If I had the money I'd get into it properly...
