Yep. I was honestly surprised by how choked up I got in that third act, it really gave me a Saving Private Ryan feeling.
They are lucky we know what happens with these plans and made sure we remember with those last 3 mins. :funny:

When the rebels destroyed the shield allowing the transmission (and the escape of some of the rebel pilots)....I was holding out hope that they would get a last second rescue.......but I got teary eyed at what happened instead.

The “Your Father Would Be Proud” track on the soundtrack is brutal. :csad:

The one that also gets me are the Rebels in the corridor screaming “Help us!” when Vader is running through them all. Then the one holding the plans out yelling for someone to take them. And that guy who got the plans tripped and fell trying to get out there. It was pure Vader nightmare fuel.

I think you might be the only human on Earth that cares about that guy. Because the rest of us were a bit too busy giving into the Dark Side in that moment.

The moment that hit me way more then I could have expected was Jyn reacting to her father's message. I could feel the years of her waiting for something. I got a bit choked up there both times I saw it.

Jyn watching the message was extremely touching I agree. Felicity did a wonderful job in that scene.

That was pretty horrifying. I loved that scene for it, it made it feel so *real*

Chalk me down to getting a bit misty eyed as well during the hologram scene. She really sold it. I can't for the life of me see the bad acting some claim this movie is riddled with.

Yeah I originally was a little nervous about her but she really pulled it off.
I was a naysayer for a bit, and started getting a little worried with some of the clips. But she is pretty great in the film and fit the role very well.

Yeah, the only thing that I would even consider for "Bad acting" in this movie is Whitaker, and he was more weird then anything. Which fit his "damaged" personality well imo.

I enjoyed the film and I thought their review was hilarious.

They made some valid points. Some of the references in this were necessary and felt natural to the story but some were not. The two Cantina guys did not need to be there, for instance. And I might be in the minority on this but I found R2 and C-3PO's appearance to be distracting. Would've rather not seen them honestly. We already knew they'd be on the ship at the end.

Whitaker did seem a little...off in this one. Especially with the way he delivered "Save the
Rebellion. Save the dream!"

But I don't think the acting was bad?

I didn't mind Whitaker. The "Save the rebellion, save the dream" line, on the other hand, not so much. Not only did it remind me of "save the cheerleader, save the world" from Heroes, but it also reminded me of the immortal words Harrison Ford said to George Lucas: "You can type this s**t, but you can't say it." It's better suited for a tagline than an actual line.

just got back WOW this movie was awesome!!!!

all i will say is this movie could of sucked big time but the end vader scene would of saved it lol

my favorite scene bar none of 2016

Yup, on repeat viewings I found Whitaker a lot less jarring. Saw's basically a wreck of a man at this point and if you take into account everything he lost from the Clone Wars to the time of Rogue One, he's barely keeping himself together.

Yeah, we are talking about a guy who has basically spent the last 21 years fighting one war or the other, his body and mind all but gone. It is why I buy his [BLACKOUT]not going with them when they escape. He was done.[/BLACKOUT]

Some people like to make final judgement based on a trailer or a clip. That's where that comes from. We live in an age when people are so hopelessly reactionary and sensational.

Where Felicity Jones got my heartstrings was at [blackout] the end with the hug. That scene got me. So much better than the very obvious other take, with a kiss. Felicity and Diego nailed that ending so much.

While the stuff with her father got me, it is hard to tell if that was because of the performance or real life stuff[/blackout]

...how'd you find them distracting? I'm not starting a fight, I'm actually curious.
I was so interested with everything else I barely noticed them to focus on them alone.

The guys from RLM do a very good job breaking down why movies don't work, however, I disagreed with their review. I thought Rogue One was well done with the exception of a few scenes and really did something different when it came to SW films. It seems like they just wanted more of the same SW material.

Yeah, the end scene with Darth Vader completely removed the stink the prequels had given him. One of the best sequences in all of Star Wars, IMO. That and the whole beach assault/space battle.

Speaking of which, the moment Captain Andor returned to shoot Director Krennic and save Jyn, someone in the theater shouted, "Oh thank God, he's still alive!" Kind made me wonder what they then thought when both of them end up dying anyway.

Also, I liked how the movie also turned the exhaust port "plot hole" into a subtle "screw you" towards the Empire from the very guy who helped them build it. And it happened twice! Because remember, the Death Star had the same hidden design flaw in Return of the Jedi and the Empire still didn't catch it.

I do think they had a valid point about the characters, though. If you remember their Mr. Plinkett review of Star Wars the Phantom Menace, and that one section about describe the characters without saying what they look like, what kind of costume they wore, or what their role is in the movie was, I actually have trouble doing that with some of the new characters, except K-2. Smart alack most definitely comes to mind with him. :woot:
