BTVS and Angel had a viewing audience of about 6-7 million viewers in their hey day, that's hardly "mass appeal," thats a niche audience.

First off one had nothing to do with the other. Superman has been a WB property for some 20 odd years so nothing had to be "brought in." Secondly, SV isn't my favorite show, not that I know what the heck that has to do with the price of tea in China. And third, the fact that you tried to prove your point by somehow trying to knock something you believe I like, shows you're an immature dolt.

While we're all off-track and such, I'd like to interject that I'm not the biggest fan of whedon, never got Buffy or Angel, and couldn't STAND his original screenplay for Alien Resurrection, much less his revised and then hacked up later drafts--I do recognize his hand in Toy Story, and in Speed, and the 13 episodes of Firefly were great television, and the movie CERTAINLY wasn't mediocre.

Did anyone watch it? No. But the movie was pretty critically lauded overall. Reviewers tended to like it. Certainly wasn't MEDIOCRE, as far as the general consensus went. And post viewing polls done showed audiences really ENJOYED the movie--if they got into the theater. Most of em didn't, because the marketing was ass on a biscuit. Horrible marketing. Sorta the same thing with the series Firefly. No one knew how to sell it, so they didn't. And it was DOA. Same with the movie.

But it wasn't mediocre. The movie, that is. Or the show. But I can't deny it didn't make bank at the theater, not by a longshot.

Yes it did suck, but quality has nothing to do with success (this is why the attrocious Star Wars prequels made piles of cash despite being trash). Both Underworld films were reasonably succesful, enough so to spawn sequels.

Eh, if thats how you define success.....but remember that pales in comparison to a project like Superman Returns.

So you can understand my logic when I make statements like WW will be a much smaller project and the Warners wont invest as much into it compared to Batman and Supes.

I can see it given around the same budget as Catwoman. BTW, Catwoman...total disgrace of a film but recently it was reported and confirmed that Halle Berry is in talks to possibly do another, despite her denying it a month prior.

i agree that 99% of the time, a blockbuster action film with a female lead sucks, but thats no reason to believe that it CANT be done properly, because it CAN be done. all it takes is the right team...now whether or not whedon can do it, is debatable, sure...but to say its not possible and hasnt been done before is ridiculous.

yeah, it's been mentioned. Although outside of Aliens and Kill Bill, nothing too convincing has been brought up. That said--I don't think people care all that much anymore whether the ass kicker is male OR female. for example--what stardom Michelle Yeoh had in America came from her whipping insane amounts of ass in Supercop (as it was called here) that James Bond movie, and Crouching Tiger. People will accept a female ass-kicking heroine. The story's just gotta be right. They were accepting in 79 (alien) and 86 (aliens) they'll be accepting now.

Kill Bill 1 and 2 made a combined 110 million plus, I believe. If it had been one movie as planned (and typically as viewed, from what I understand regarding home theater) I think it would have hit that amount.

You're forgetting DVD. It sold well. Just because a movie don't sell well on the screen don't mean it the same for DVD. Ever heard of Austin Powers? The first movie wasn't a big hit in theater, but it became a success on DVD/VHS that it warrant 2 sequels that were even bigger hits than the first on screen. Same for Serenity.

Alright, shes an actress. Shes reletively unknown having a reccuring role on the show Summerland on WB, then appearances on Supernatural, CSI etc

I was told on the DC movie boards, her performances were good and she was very WW-like. Shes currently 23/24, around the perfect age for a Diana origins story and that matches well with the relative ages of Routh and Bosworth. Shes around 5'8 which is the perfect height to me. The WW boots could make her slightly taller but I dont wana see her taller than Bale (just in case fans get some Justice in the future ).

No, it sounds like they had a nice little niche audience thats enough to keep a show going on a small network or cable outlet but would get it cancelled if it was on one of the Big 4.

Family Guy had more viewers at it's lowest point than either of the Whedon shows did at their peeks. I dont see how the situations are analagous, considering there's absolutley zero chance either of those shows come back.

pretty much every show that hits 100 episodes, goes into syndication. Even shows that were cancelled. It doesnt mean the show was good or had a mass viewing audience, just that it's relatively cheap programming for a network to use during slow hours.
