George Miller says Justice League not affected by strike

To be fair, the whole thing started when Miller himself said it would have a name change. So it's not entirely far-fetched.

I want a quote from Miller himself! Miller was heard saying this(regarding both the name change and that JL would not be affected by the writers strike) or Bale was overheard saying this doesn't cut it for me. Usually it does, but there has been so much BS flung our way regarding this movie, if I don't hear it from the horses mouth, then it didn't happen. :o

I think this would be what the general public would think when they hear the phrase "American Heroes". It might be a good decoy title during production.

:funny:

In the worst case scenario imo the movie has a shooting name a la Rory first kiss :cwink:  :woot:

http://www.moviehole.net/news/20071211_its_that_new_of_a_title.html

that's exactly what i was thinking.

i dont know why its such a big deal about JL being "retitled". its obviously in similar vein to Superman Return's "Red Sun"-- its a working title, doesnt mean that thats whats gonna hit the theaters. :whatever:

Updated: Ain't it Cool has more info about the alleged retitling. A scooper for that site heard Christian Bale refer to the project as 'American Heroes'. This mention by the 'Dark Knight' star may be the root source of this talk. Now, apparently the Justice League comics were released in European markets as 'American Heroes' years ago and it could be that that's then name that stuck for Bale.

would only work if theyr'e gonna go up against GI Joe.
speaking of which, makes you kinda wonder how they're gonna market that movie.

If Miller really said that, he is actually probably refering to a title change from Justice League of America, to Justice League, this was reported by some sources previously.

In regards to Red Sun, that was the title of the script and the project, similar to Rory's First Kiss, that being said the movie was called Superman Returns from the beginning and it stayed that way.

Now that I realized Bale had called the project American Heroes, this has nothing to do with Miller's supposed name change comment.

Where did Bale grow up? As stated "American Heroes" was the name of the Justice league in foreign countries. So if Bale grew up in one of those places, to him they are known as "American Heroes" and not the Justice League.....

he grew up in Britain and the US.

honestly, its the first time i've ever heard of JLA being called American Heroes.

Yeah I've never heard of that either, but apparently Bale was their "source", if that counts for anything....

Lin plans to develop alternate ways to make projects under his long-term pact, the first three years of which are exclusive. Exec, who worked on pics such as "The Departed" and "The Aviator" for Warners, is expected to continue shepherding projects such as George Miller's "Justice League" for the studio.
Robinov said he would be happy with "one good-size movie a year out of Danny" under the pact, stressing Lin's wide-ranging taste and ability to work with high-caliber directors such as Martin Scorsese and Miller.

just a nice little tidbit.... now just waiting for the cast...

I seriously doubt that the Justice League was ever called American Heroes and published that way. That would sound like a very rare comic that would be trading on EBay right now (and it isn't). I think the title American Heroes is reserved for characters like GI Joe, Buford Purser, and Ralph Hinkley. Morris must have pulled that one out of his back pocket or it is just a shooting title.

PEOPLE, READ THIS POST.

Honestly, this is all there is to this story. Bale called it by it's overseas name because that's what he grew up knowing. That's all. My dear jebus.

Sun_Down, your statement is so wonderfully emphasized by your signature.

PLAY SAGA #1: CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS (Italy) (1990)
AMERICAN HEROES #1 (Italy) (Nov 1991)

In 1990, a big change: Edizioni Play Press, which already published some Marvel series, started new DC books: JUSTICE LEAGUE and GREEN ARROW. At last, some DC title well published. They contained the recent post-Crisis relaunches of JLI (with the LEGENDS prologue), FLASH and WONDER WOMAN (JL) and GREEN ARROW, BLACKHAWK and GREEN LANTERN (GA). There were introductions, mail pages, notes for the new readers... Not bad. The only true problem was the... Er, I don't know how you call it... Brochure? I mean, what makes the difference between a normal comic book and a tpb. The books weren't bound, but pasted, so the pages could fly away, if you didn't pay attention.

Then other series arrived: PLAY SAGA and PLAY EXTRA, which contained miniseries (PS #1/8 were CRISIS), AMERICAN HEROES, a magazine containing TEEN TITANS, DOOM PATROL, ANIMAL MAN and other series. But Superman and Batman, the big ones, were still at Rizzoli's. Besides, they weren't published anymore... Rizzoli owned the rights, but didn't used them. The only exception were a special Superman story produced in North Europe, which I have never read (if Lars and others can tell me something more, it would be useful!) and a new Batman title, published not by Rizzoli, but Glenat (a sort of Rizzoli's international branch, if I recall correctly). This new BATMAN was hated by readers, because there were stories published with no order... In the same issue, you could find stories released in 1990 and 1940!

So far as we know, Miller didn't say that, some writer did. And it's unclear what the writer meant.

We also have a writer saying, "Miller said JLA not affected by strike" but we don't have an official quote from Miller saying this. So perhaps we shouldn't believe this either.

i really doubt the film will be american heroes if they thought jla was to american sounding well this title is way more then jla. It is most likely going to be the filming title with the film being jla in us/north america and jl in international releases. I doubt think they would not want to be cashing in on the jla brand name for merch.

I've been calling it just JL longer than George Miller I'm sure ;)

Yea if anything American heroes like others think will be shooting title and us/north america will be JLA title and JL for international. I dont see it being superfriends or anything else.

Im betting they get rid of the "America", and add a sub-title...

something like Justice League: The Beginning
