I just really hope they darker with this one more than anything, I actually liked the first movie, but there is no doubting it had huge problems, mainly the villains which I hope are improved this time.

I hope if we do get a comic-book villain they at the very least faithful.

Some nice casting there.

I like that there's no reference to Scott M. Gimple and Seth Hoffman, writers of the lackluster May draft, it says Neveldine/Taylor wrote the script. Same Goyer story, of course, but I still cling to the hope that the shooting draft will be better than what I read.

Wasn't the Devil in the first one, well Marvel's version of the Devil?

So....are they even gonna use any other characters from the comic? Or is this 'those' adaptations when the only character you'll know the title hero, and the rest were created for the film?

The "Devil" is that...Devil. :woot: (they replace Fonda - i don't know why - with Hinds).

Ah, there is another villain in the movie. From the comic-book.

I actually really enjoyed Fonda as the devil in the first movie so I am bit dissapointed they have brought him back, unless this is another type of devil or something. Either way not a fan of this news.

Well...In the script they said he's the one from the first one...

So if it is in fact Mephisto that is going to return but with a new actor maybe they will show his true form since they didn't bother to in the first film.

Then why not get Fonda back? Why cast someone else? It just doesnt make sense to me, if you are going to re-boot it, re-boot it, if not, some continuity would be nice.

Agreed. Especially since I thought Fonda was great in that role.

I'm really just hoping this is a much darker film than the first. Ghost Rider needs to be extremely dark and demented

cause he's the devil, why would he choose the same appearance everytime he comes to earth. he's suppose to be a deceiver. I'd acutally love to see a different actor play him every movie.

This guy was probably cheaper

Here's hoping the Devil ends up looking frightening, and not, ya know...stupid.

Same here, I thought he was really menacing in the role and played it well, dont know why they didnt bring him back.

Idris Elba and Johnny Whitworth are in negotiations to join the cast of “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,” Columbia’s sequel to the 2007 hit.

The movie, with Nicolas Cage back as the demonic biker anti-hero, has Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor behind the cameras. Based on the Marvel comic, the pic is set to begin shooting in late November in Romania and Turkey.

The story sees Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider (Cage), hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the devil (Ciaran Hinds), who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the kid’s birthday.

Elba plays an alcoholic warrior monk tasked with finding Ghost Rider. Whitworth plays a criminal who is recruited by the devil to find the boy and is later turned into a demonic creature.

Neveldine and Taylor also wrote the script, working off a story by David Goyer. Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Michael De Luca, Ashok Amritraj and Steven Paul are producing.

Columbia will release the film in North America, and Hyde Park Entertainment has international distribution rights.

Maybe it was because I was pissed Saturday, but when I watched Ghost Rider again I was so angered by it I wanted to chuck the dvd out the window. Moreso than usual. After that, I'm really disappointed Sony is making this, hoping the rights would revert to Marvel and he could at least make a cameo before getting FUBARed.

I'm totally guessing here, but the Marvel Scarecrow?

Maybe Fonda didn't want to do it? I don't know. But it is a shame he's been replaced. He was one of the best parts of the first movie.

Ashok Amritraj also produced LEGEND OF CHUN-LI.

LOL the first Ghost Rider was a big budget B-movie. Fonda's performance was freaking CHEESE. I was never scared or frightened by him at all. Johnny Blaze was a freaking doofus who deserved to be a tool of the devil for being an utter moron.

The best part(s) of the movie.

So who has the film rights to Daimon Hellstrom? Maybe it's his father, isn't he also considered one of Marvel's devils? Maybe he's the son.

Christopher Lambert ("Highlander" movies) revealed on the official "Highlander" Facebook page that he is in talks to play a character in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. He did not reveal what role he would play.
If the deal goes through, he would be joining Nicolas Cage, Ciaran Hinds, Violante Placido, Idris Elba and Johnny Whitworth in the February 17, 2012 Sony Pictures release.
Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Gamer, Crank) are currently in pre-production for the film.
