The reason it took a while for him to realise was because there were no repercussions or visits from the devil for years, also not to mention he turned away in the tent when the lightning revealed the devils true form.

good point

1- in the movie, he thought something was eerie but no indication he knew it was satan
2- in the movie, he didn't sign the dotted line, he just touched the contract to take a look at it
3- from your perspective, the movie did do it better than the comic
4- I didn't realize that the lead character had to illicit sympothy in order for the story to be ranked more than rubbish and even if thats true, the way it went down definately gave the vibe that he was tricked not that he made a conscience, stupid decision(like most people do everyday)
5- peter fonda rocked ass as mephisto...just wanted to throw that in there :)

Agreed with all of the above.

BTW has there been any news on GR2, i've been away a couple of weeks and missed a lot of news.

^I preferred him the way he was rather than a campy, totally OTT devil that just wouldnt have convinced. I think his calm presence made him all the more menacing, like he just knew he would get what he wanted and no one could do anything about it.

It was also cool to see that calmness challenged when he speaks to Blackheart in the desert.

The only real complaint I have is that the movie was still to lighthearted. I mean if these guys are from the pits of Hell, they should of been major bad a_ _ _ _, I mean really evil.

They should of made it more like a horror film, really hardcore and sinister.

It would've been had MSJ not written the script. And I promise you, if they use Dan Ketch, it'll much closer to a horror film...at least it should be.

^It was more the studio's fault than MSJ's, they are the one's who wanted the movie to be like that.

The goth girl was his idea. She was one of the reasons why this film lost its edge.

I liked the Mephisto in GR, except for that part where Caretaker takes the contract off with him. I mean, all he does is ride in the opposite direction. You'd think Mephisto would like teleport there or something to stop him. Not stand there like "Huh, didn't see that one coming." It is a funny part in the movie to watch because it is so lame, and makes Mephisto look really bad.

There's really no need for a reboot. Just get a new writer. I like MSJ as a person, and I even like him as a director. He really knows his stuff, but he's just not a good writer.

The worst part of the movie was Wes Bentley's Blackheart, and he's out of the picture. Bring back Fonda and let him actually do something. And bring back Cage, because he's just endlessly watchable.

And to top it off, Caretaker said something along the lines of "he out-ran the devil" :joker: .

Yep...that just makes the scene even more hilarious :woot:

Well the 1st GR movie had elements of Dan Ketch written all over it. He had Danny's dark hair (minus the mullet), the Spirit of Vengeance, the Penance Stare, Blackheart, etc.

If they were to make a Dan Ketch GR, I think that implies it being a much more darker Ghost Rider with lots of violence and minus the wise cracks and sillyness that the original had.

Although I think this formula is better for Ghost Rider...its a hard sell these days with the market flooded with PG-13 'fun for all ages' themes.

I'd be happy with a reboot or a sequel with better villians and less eccentric side of nic cage

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't want Nic Cage coz he's too old.

The goth girl was his idea. She was one of the reasons why this film lost its edge.

The goth girl was in the movie for 30 seconds, she was not the reason the movie wasnt as good as it could have been.

And after hearing Nic Cage's comments about were he wants to take JB/GR in the sequel, i hope to god they bring him back, because it sounds a lot darker.

MSJ admitted in the commentary that he knew GR fans would not like the humour she brought the film, yet he still insisted on her being there.

^But as i said, the movie had many more problems than a 30 second part for a comedienne.

Watching the theatrical cut on Sky the other day, i was actually quite shocked by how much better the extended edition is of GR, originally i though there wasnt much difference to them, but the EE definately adds a lot more to they story that helps it move along and explain some things.

Nic Cage was the sorriest Johnny Blaze. Johnny Blaze was supposed to be a cool YOUNG Motorcycle stuntman who had his whole life ahead of him and gave it all up to save the life of the one person who ever took care of him. The story of DAN KETCH in Cypress Hill in New York is waaaay more interesting. NO we dont mind that every Marvel heros backstory takes place in NEW YORK. GhostRider rides again. GhostRider II !!!!

Couldn't they just make a reboot with DK in animation form? Make it a dark R rated animated movie with plenty of thrills and suspense. They could even use it as a tie in (if possible) for another sequel.

That's be nice...at least the budget wouldn't get in the way. Kinda like Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury.

I wish Marvel can get the rights back, and reboot it with new actor, replacing Blaze with Ketch (since Cage is attached as Blaze), making it rated R, and tune down on the silliness of the first movie. Oh, and keep MSJ far away from GR 2.

Who owns the rights to GR? I thought it was Marvel...
