Ghost Rider at Comic-Con!!

There is one thing i still don´t get and it just sounds weird to me.

Mephisto is demon, that means he is evil; but he makes a deal with Johnny Blaze for him to be the Ghost Rider, a supernatural agent of vengeance and justice?
JUSTICE?????
Mephisto is about Chaos, not justice.
To say that Mephisto "made" an agent for justice, is the same as to say an angel made an agent for torment.

But i do like "the fabled Ghost Rider" angle, because i would make exactly the same thing, to make GR to be fabled, in the likes of Jack Palance´s "Believe it or not".

The justice part is stemming from Ghost Rider not Mephisto.

Well this theme was developed quite a lot in the GRII series...and the relativistic concept of innocent blood too....
First of all, mephisto is not to be trusted:)
And maybe he cannot claim Blaze soul, not totally, because of his good purpose(in the pact he made). There is were this contraddiction come out. He need JB to sin to have his soul. Mephisto in comics is all about theese kind of tricks and choices he present to the heroes.
It's the classic Faust all along, but i'ts more convoluted than it seems.
By going phylosophic (blearrgh) i could say that by making JB a demon, he tries to have him acting like a demon; by giving him devilish powers and a violent mission, he hope/thinks they will take Blaze to commit evil.

Teaser Poster.. and possibly a shot from the movie.

But, confirmed as a new teaser poster.

hmm...where did you read it was definately a teaser poster? was there an official announcement somewhere? i know it looks like they have one behind that table in that pic but thats not for certain if they will use it or not.
they still have that "plain jane" version w/ the black background and the simple looking text for Ghost Rider...
i certainly hope it is as it would look very nice framed....and on my wall :D

On my wall, you mean.

The problem with movies is they need to really tie things in.. the radar gun should have clocked the MPH at 666 being the nature of the ghost rider...
Do I have to edit everything? :)

:ghost:

HM

Actually, 999 is the real number of the beast. Somewhere along the way it was flipped to make it 666. The reason, I'm not sure... but I'll definatly look into it.

Hey guys. I just got back from Comic Con and I SAW the footage AND the teaser poster if you have any questions.

Avi Arad, Mark Steven Johnson, and Eva Mendes were all there. No Nicholas Cage. Johnson said the teaser poster is pretty close to what he will look like in the final movie.

Now the bad news, the footage was NOT very good. It looks like they got the tone of the movie totally wrong. It looked very CHEESY :( .

Vile one I'm shocked. I never expected negative comments from you. Shame on you that's totally unlike you. :)

Give me a break post production just freaking started. The sound won't sound right, the video won't look right, the F/X are missing, and the film hasn't been edited yet. LMFAO It wasn't meant to be used as a trailer for audiences to get excited over. Just a glimpse.

I'm shocked as well blades_shades, I never expected Marvel cheerleading comments from you.

Whatever it was meant to be used as, I wasn't very inspired.

Did you even see the footage? If you didn't, shut the hell up.

And the issues I have with the footage are not necessarily things that post production can fix as far as FX goes.

Vile, was there any footage of the flames moving? I'm interested in particular in the wheels... Actually it seems GR appears maybe only a fraction of second in the teaser(the radar gun scene): how were the lightning of that scene?Did the environment had, like, some color filters(to make the flames stand out more, like...al grey/blue/black)?
How were the performances of Sam Elliot and Nick(and the policeman, and every actor)?
Thanks!

You don't really see Ghost Rider in his full glory. Not even in the radar gun clip. All you see are very quick, almost subliminal flashes of the skull, which were just test shots of a crew worker in the costume according to Mark Steven Johnson.

Don't really get to see a good shot or look of the wheels, but according to Johnson they will be covered in flames with the shadows of wheels in them. He said there were issues about making them look like they had weight and not light and fluffy.

The lighting. For what I was hoping would be a dark, atmospheric movie, it looks pretty bright, kind of like John Carpenter's more recent . . . material. I think it just comes out of moving the movie out of New York to West Texas, which I think was a bad idea. Just like moving Punisher from New York to bright, sunny Florida.

I just didn't get the sense that Ghost Rider was a creature of the night.

Performances. I got to be honest, I wasn't too impressed with Nicholas Cage. It was just . . . Nicholas Cage you know. I've seen him do much better. He had quite a few cheesy one-liners in the footage, "I'm good, my head feels like its on fire, but I'm good," (paraphrasing). Cage kind of seemed like he was coasting.

Sam Elliott looks pretty good, I got vibes from his performance in Big Lebowski.

Eva Mendes, obligatory love interest. According to her, they made her more "badass" than she is in the comics where she was more of a "victim". I guess that's ok. I don't know too much about the Ghost Rider comics, but in the movie Mendes' character is a reporter.

Peter Fonda seemed ok from what we saw. He's essentially the Devil, so I hope he's really creepy and evil, intimidating.

Not sold on Wes Bentley as Blackheart either, it looked like he was trying to do Deacon Frost from the original Blade, but . . . not as good. I'm hoping we do see Blackheart in his full demon glory at some point in the movie though.

Uhmmm about the bright lightnng, proably has to do with MSJ talks about the Horror/western mix... Was there any scenes at dawn/dusk?I think that kind on lightning could really work and bring some "Mad Max" look MSJ wanted...
God to know Eva Mendes isn't only passive...
By now BH is my only doubt, we aven't seen much of him...

Well the movie didn't look like Mad Max at all. Just like Daredevil didn't look like Se7en.

Well let's hope a year of post production will make the final movie good, don't we?

Hummm, i just noticed one thing.... you know, the new teaser poster.... do you see the blue sky in the down right background section? That blue just reminded me so much of Texeira/Saltares age...and that was a very dark one, with the great contrasts Yellow on black/blue that every GR2 fan grew up loving.
So, probebly there are as you said brightly illuminated parts of the movie, probably the daylight ones, maybe with western look, as MSJ said, but that blue reassures me that night scenes will be processed well.
And the night filming shots we saw months ago did show not so bright illuminations...and there were some documented night city shooting, so i think some of your fears are unmotivated.

lol...
should have read that text :)

good to know its officially a new poster. the other one was just boring looking...but i would probably still get it :o

just wanted say i saw the footage at the con

this one is definitely going to be at the top of my list next year
and johnson was very clear they had not finished the ghot rider effect and i was OK with that
got a free hat out of the deal too said TEAMBLAZE on the front

We'll see. This is based off the footage we were shown, so you can take it or leave it.

Damn this is getting better & better. I think Mark Johnson is one of the best directors for Marvel. He sticks to the comics not like Brian Singer.

Yup, course he does.

Regardless of how good Ghost Rider ends up actually will be, the final product will NOT be better than BRYAN Singer's X-men films.

How you know from a little teaser

Well AMW, like Batman says, "Its my business to know."

Johnson is also not a storyteller or director of the caliber that Bryan Singer is, sorry that's just the way it is.
