Vile, was there any footage of the flames moving? I'm interested in particular in the wheels... Actually it seems GR appears maybe only a fraction of second in the teaser(the radar gun scene): how were the lightning of that scene?Did the environment had, like, some color filters(to make the flames stand out more, like...al grey/blue/black)?
How were the performances of Sam Elliot and Nick(and the policeman, and every actor)?
Thanks!
You don't really see Ghost Rider in his full glory. Not even in the radar gun clip. All you see are very quick, almost subliminal flashes of the skull, which were just test shots of a crew worker in the costume according to Mark Steven Johnson.
Don't really get to see a good shot or look of the wheels, but according to Johnson they will be covered in flames with the shadows of wheels in them. He said there were issues about making them look like they had weight and not light and fluffy.
The lighting. For what I was hoping would be a dark, atmospheric movie, it looks pretty bright, kind of like John Carpenter's more recent . . . material. I think it just comes out of moving the movie out of New York to West Texas, which I think was a bad idea. Just like moving Punisher from New York to bright, sunny Florida.
I just didn't get the sense that Ghost Rider was a creature of the night.
Performances. I got to be honest, I wasn't too impressed with Nicholas Cage. It was just . . . Nicholas Cage you know. I've seen him do much better. He had quite a few cheesy one-liners in the footage, "I'm good, my head feels like its on fire, but I'm good," (paraphrasing). Cage kind of seemed like he was coasting.
Sam Elliott looks pretty good, I got vibes from his performance in Big Lebowski.
Eva Mendes, obligatory love interest. According to her, they made her more "badass" than she is in the comics where she was more of a "victim". I guess that's ok. I don't know too much about the Ghost Rider comics, but in the movie Mendes' character is a reporter.
Peter Fonda seemed ok from what we saw. He's essentially the Devil, so I hope he's really creepy and evil, intimidating.
Not sold on Wes Bentley as Blackheart either, it looked like he was trying to do Deacon Frost from the original Blade, but . . . not as good. I'm hoping we do see Blackheart in his full demon glory at some point in the movie though.
