I don't have any gripes about Cruise being in it. I think he is a poor excuse for a human being but that doesn't change the fact that he is a hell of an actor. PSM just has me highly excited for it. He is gonna own that role.

I agree with you Retro,the overreaction more so on the haterweb has been ridiculous,the only thing he has done that i think was wrong was his outburst about psychology and drugs,he really shouldn't be making rash statements when he isn't a professional,the rest of the stuff is just star nonsense and not worth any more than a giggle

Why do you doubt it will be released next year? A first draft of the script has been done.

I know that most of you are unhappy about this.. its mean its a longer wait.. I don;t know if you have noticed, but the summer movies is a very tough competition. and alot of films do surffer because the studios lack the breathing room for it. I think this will work better for ghost rider. most people are not familar with ghost rider unlike say spider-man or hulk..
specialy when a movie is number 1 for one week and then a new movie is number 1.. its very rare when a movie will be number 1 for a while.
the only other time I remember a movie being delayed for a while was the first zorro movie back in 1998. they delayed it fora year or so.. I remember seeing trailers for it all the time on video and theatre long before it was released.

this will give it the time to promote the movie.

Daredevil did OK with its February release, but the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this announcement was Elektra.

In looking for a silver lining, I'll agree with Kevin in the hope that this added time will allow some additional fine-tuning to make a better film.

Yeah, it's somewhat disappointing to have to wait a 1/2 year longer but the move makes sense to me. As MSJ said, there are a slew of tentpole genre films coming out next summer and GR would likely have gotten a little lost in the noise. A longer shelf life means better returns and better chance of a sequel happening.

And I hear you, Biggun. But like I said, President's Day weekend is actually one of the biggest weekends of the movie year. DD opened to a $45 million weekend on that date and it was the biggest snowstorm on record, shutting down the East Coast. "Hitch" was the last big hit Sony had and it was also released on President's Day weekend. It's a great date for the flick. But it's a long way off and no doubt folks will assume the worst. Truth is they love the movie and they want it to do great. We just need the time to do it right and to really put together a great campagin.

Yeah like you said the studio becomes obsessive with the issue to make movies shorter. Did you see Fantastic Four they cut it literary to death. In the Making of book it has the full movie in script form and even Tim Story said he wanted to do a Director's Cut which I'm really looking forward to.

I just heard of this, and I'm not sure what to think. Sure I'm mad we have to wait another 1/2 year, especially since the release date was so close to my birthday... but I (kind of) understand why they are doing this, and if it also serves to make the movie better, then that's it.

Guys this is good news that it moved. If it came out 1 week after Pirates 2 it's box office would have been smothered and the hopes for a continued franchise would be diminished if not wiped away. Let them make the movie perfect. Nobody else is going to have a big summer type action flick ready by next February.
