Ghostbusters 3 - Part 2

So the other day I tweeted my thoughts on a new female GB cast:

Emma Stone
Aubrey Plaza
Stephanie Beatriz
Jessica Williams

…And Stephanie Beatriz herself favorites my tweet! I wonder if she would have any interest in being part of this potential project.

I'm gonna with yeah. just a hunch.

don't care what anyone says, jessica williams looks like she could be zeddmore's daughter. i'd cast her with the new gb being the old gb's progeny.:word:

Well if it ever does happen at least he'll be there as a producer.

Stephen Spielberg's been a producer on all the Transformers films, that title doesn't mean much.

He's been there in a much more hands off capacity. Reitman said;

I am very involved. I’m a producer of the film,” he told us. “I wasn’t giving it all up. I suddenly felt that Ghostbusters didn’t necessarily need me as a director, at least I didn’t need to direct Ghostbusters, let me put it that way. Having done the other two and with the passing of Harold and with Bill Murray seeming disinterested being in it, I thought it was better for me just to produce it and to make sure we’re going to have the quality and style of what is appropriate for another version of that film.'

Got my ticket for 4:25 to see the 30th Anniversary re-release at AMC. This will be my first time seeing it on the big screen.

Looks like it's playing in my town - I'll have to try and catch it!!

It was an experience, man. Seeing the mayor office scene in a theatre was classic. I know Feig may already be on board but I feel like somebody like James Gunn knows that humor style enough to do a sequel. There were scenes in GotG that were very Ghostbusters like.

It's definitely a good idea to just start fresh. Between Ramis and Murray not being involved, you're left with Ackroyd and Hudson, and quite frankly, only half the team isn't enough to recapture a hint of the magic.

I can definitely see Ackroyd making a cameo, though, as a mentor-figure / Doc Brown / Obi-Wan type. But honestly, they should just distance themselves from the first two movies and pretend like they never happened.

My picks:

Bill Hader
Donald Glover
Emma Stone

How were the crowds for those who saw it this weekend? I haven't seen any real advertising for the rerelease, I'm not sure many people even know it's out there.

I saw the first show of the day yesterday at 2:10 and there were 50-60 people. They have it on the big AVX screen and it was just $6 (regular ticket price is $12.99, and AVX is normally $15.99).
It was great seeing this on the big screen, and the crowd definitely was into it.
It seems like such a cliche thing to say, but they really don't make them like this anymore.

Friday estimate is $490,000 on 787 screens. Should do 2-2.5m over the 4 day weekend.

Damn Bill Murray if Melissa McCarthy gets cast because of him

McCarthy I suspect will be asked by the studio irrespective of Bill's wishes anyway. She's a bankable comedy star (probably the biggest one currently) plus has worked with Feig more than once.

Besides if they dial down Melissa's schtick I've no problem with her being in it anyway.

yeah, literally the biggest one

Eh, I liked McCarthy in The Heat. Her other big roles are hit or miss. Mike and Molly was boring for example.

How predictable. Good to know the McCarthy hate from some fanboys, like the hate for Lena Dunham, has nothing (despite what they claim) to do with them not finding her funny but all to do with the fact she doesn't give them a *****.

Even if she doesn't become a part of it I almost hope Feig doesn't go down the pretty young women route with the new team just so the usual entitled bro morons can spew more crap.

Saw the 30th rerelease yesterday and I am so glad I did. I love the original film, but never had the opportunity to see it like that, and I love I'm still catching things all this time after.

I personally don't care what she look like, nor any actor or actress. I just don't find Melissa funny whatsoever.

Ebert and Siskel reviewing the movie for the first time.

Same here. :yay:

Same she just sucks & I find her comedy annoying & not funny. I avoid everything shes in. This will be included in the list if shes in it. I even gave The Heat a chance due to Sandra Bullock. But I eventually turned it off due to me not finding Melissa funny & annoying. So I learned my lesson with that one
